Thank you for your question.
I am aware of a program for people that cannot afford Auto Insurance and make less than 250% of the federal property level and meet many other underwriting criteria.
I am aware of various homeowners programs for people whose homes reside in high fire risk areas and insurance companies will not take them. Both of these programs are state specific though.
But, I am not aware of a program to assist in this matter, when you cannot afford to pay your home insurance bill. It is possible that it exists and I do not know of it.
Do you have a mortgage? Be careful if you are considering dropping your home insurance. If you do, its not as simple as just dropping your insurance not being insured any more. More than likely the lender will place forced placed insurance on your home. This insurance is likely to cost more than you are already paying.
Have you reached out to an independent broker or agent near where you live to inquire about the lowest possible rate? You could consider lowering a few of the coverage options and raising your deductibles. You may inquire about some discounts. Im sure this sounds obvious, but that is the best advice I could give you.
