Your 401(k) plan would have to allow what's called an "in-service distribution" for you to do so. Most plans don't have that exception before a certain age (59.5 for example). The plan's Summary Plan Description (SPD) will tell you if it's permitted or you could speak with HR. As an alternative, if your plan doesn't already include a Designated Roth Account, urge your employer to add that feature as soon as possible. It's a best practice these days for 401(k) plans to have a Roth option designed right into the plan.
