How can I figure out mutual fund performance net of fees?

Mutual funds are required to report their performance net of fees...so their published returns already have all fund expenses deducted. "What you see is what you get." Having standardized reporting like this makes it easier to compare one fund's performance with that of another fund in its same category.
Most funds will then also report their performance over different time periods in relation to the market benchmark that's most appropriate for their fund. They usually include benchmark returns right next to fund performance in their literature.
