There are many different paths to becoming an insurance path.
One of the better paths is to first off, go work for either an insurance company or insurance agency. This way you can learn some terms, phrases, general rules, and meet some industry people. Also you may quickly find out that 'insurance' is not what you thought it might be.
After about 6 months, start studying for your state insurance exam. Many states break the exams up into life/health and property/casaulty. They can be broken into still more licenses.
Pass the exam and consider studying and taking any other state required exams as well.
Congratutaltions now you are licensed to sell insurance as an insurance agent. However that does not mean that you can yet begin selling insurance. You will first need to set up your own company or work for an exisiting insurance agency. You probably will either need to be listed under someone else's Errors and Ommissions Insurance or you will need to purchase your own.
From here there are still more options and directions to go.
Best of Luck to You!
