United MileagePlus elite status earned this year will expire on January 31, 2024. After you earn any MileagePlus status level, you will keep it for the rest of the current calendar year, the next calendar year, and January of the following year.

To be able to reach the first United MileagePlus elite status level (Premier Silver), you need to fly 8 flight segments and earn 3,000 PQPs (Premier Qualifying Points) or fly 4 flight segments and earn 3,500 PQP. You must satisfy a given status level's qualifying requirements between January 1 and December 31 to reach or maintain that status level and enjoy its benefits.

United Airlines has a travel awards chart that you can use to determine how many miles you need for various flights. Select your country of departure and destination, and you’ll see the award mile requirement for each class of travel and award-type.

United divides the awards chart into two award types: One-way Saver Award and One-way Everyday Award. The award-type depends on the route and availability. Saver Award flights require fewer miles than the Everyday Award flights because they have less availability. So if your dates are flexible, you can benefit from a cheaper Saver Award flight.
