Our online process takes 5-10 minutes including set-up, funding and getting your new account number. In-person it can vary between institutions depending on how many accounts, joint vs. individual, etc. I'd budget 30 minutes for an in-person appt and possible more if you have to wait in the lobby. If you're comfortable using online stores such as Amazon, eBay, Netflix, etc. then I recommend opening an account online as well - faster and more convenient for most folks!
