Hi! Not to be a Debbie Downer, but why must there ALWAYS be some kind of problem with every business transaction made? Now-a-days it seems as I should rejoice everytime something actually goes without a hitch.
I am not sure if you've been doing direct deposit for these employees for a long time and there was just a problem this time or if you've just started doing direct deposit. If you've just started, you are exactly right that your direct deposits, if they went to nine should have gone to the tenth with no problem. However, even if all ten of your employees have the same bank, it may be that the incorrect routing or account number was inadvertently entered for the tenth employee and so the electronic connection couldn't be made.
If you've been doing the direct deposit for awhile, it could be that the bank to which the deposit went was bought out or had a change somehow. My company uses First Citizen's Bank and when they underwent some kind of a change, the routing number changed. We were not notified of it, and didn't figure that out until funds didn't come our way. It took a bit of dectective work to figure out what the deal was.
The inconvenience will take time to resolve - which if you are like all of us, you don't have -but hopefully it will work out and go smoothly in the future. Thanks for writing!
