Hi! Thanks for writing. If you do an electronic submission or efile it usually takes 7 to 10 days to get your Federal tax refund. Sometimes it takes longer to get a state refund.
I am worried...have you not gotten your refund yet from an April filing? Did you efile? Even with a paper return you mail in it shouldn't take more than 6 to 8 weeks. You can go to the IRS website and check on your refund here or and request a tax transcript here to see what's up. You can also call - 800-829-1954, 24 hours a day.
Several things could happened. If you mailed your return, maybe it never got there. If you e-flied perhaps there was a transmission glitch. Maybe you typed a number incorrectly for your direct deposit account. If you had a tax pro do your return, maybe something happened there. Or maybe you are a victim of fraud and someone has your identity and filed before you did and got the refund. Sorry for the worry and hassle - hopefully you will be able to get an answer soon using one of these methods and have your tax refund in the bank. Best wishes to you.
