The United Explorer Card benefits include a free checked bag on United flights, a 25% statement credit on in-flight purchases and 40,000 bonus miles when you spend $2,000 in the first 3 months. You’ll also get 2 miles per $1 spent at restaurants and hotels.
There are several United Explorer Card travel benefits, too. They include rental car insurance, trip delay reimbursement and airport lounge access. You’ll also get purchase protection and extended warranties on items you buy with the card, among other perks.
Here are the United Explorer Card benefits:
Free checked bag: Applies to cardholder and 1 companion on same reservation.
Priority boarding: Cardholder and all companions on same reservation are eligible.
25% statement credit: On all United in-flight food, beverage and Wi-Fi purchases.
Up to $100 fee credit: For the Global Entry or TSA Pre-Check application fee. These programs expedite airport security.
40,000 point initial bonus: For spending $2,000 in the first 3 months. Another $100 statement credit for making your first purchase.
United Club Passes: 2 one-time lounge passes per year (when you open your account and every anniversary).
Rental car insurance: Covers vehicles up to their cash value. Certain vehicles and situations (e.g. reckless/intoxicated driving) are not eligible.
Trip cancellation / delay insurance: $1,500 per trip for cancellation by something out of your control (e.g. sickness or injury). $500 per ticket for trips delayed more than 12 hours.
Luggage insurance: $3,000 per passenger for lost luggage. $100 per day for baggage delayed for 6+ hours.
Purchase protection: Up to $10,000 per claim and $50,000 per year. Applies to items you buy with your card that get damaged or stolen.
Extended warranty: 1 extra year of warranty on items you buy with your card that start with warranties of 3 years or fewer.
2 points per $1 spent: On restaurant and hotel purchases. 1 point per $1 on all other purchases.
Annual fee waiver: $0 fee for the first year, $95 after.
No foreign transaction fees: You won’t have to pay extra if you buy something from a foreign merchant in person or online.
As you can see, there are a lot of United Explorer Card benefits to take advantage of. If you use them all, you should get back much more than your $95 annual fee in value each year.
The card has a lot of travel benefits: free checked bag, 25% back as statement credit for in-flight purchases, no foreign transaction fees, priority boarding and concierge services, to name only a few.
