I've been calling PNC and they said it's only $5 at the ATM or 3% when purchasing at a store. Has anyone experienced both fees? Reply 23

That’s correct, PNC charges a $5 fee for foreign ATM transactions and a 3% fee of the transaction amount for international purchases. If you use the ATM and use the debit card for purchases in a foreign country, you’ll be charged both fees.

What should I take into account when using foreign ATMs? Will I get reimbursed by PNC for all or any of the foreign ATM fees? I have the Virtual Wallet Performance Spend account and am in Thailand. Reply 1

The fee for using ATMs in a foreign country is $5 for each transaction. PNC reimburses only the first two international non-PNC Bank ATM transactions at the end of the statement period. Fees in excess of two per statement period will not be reimbursed.

I simply LOVE Virtual Wallet. I have the apps on my phone and tablet, and I'm set up with online banking too. I've never had an issue, and they offer incentives all the time for things I purchase. They also have a great referral program! I'd recommend this to anyone looking to watch their budgeting and track their money management better!

I have never had a problem with my PNC virtual Wallet account except for when switching to it and ended up overdrafting my old PNC account. The bank representative was very nice and helpful in refunding me the charge. The web site and app makes it extremely easy to monitor and manage my money.

I am in LOVE with my PNC virtual wallet performance spend account. The account comes with 3 accounts linked together, 2 checking accounts and 1 savings account. The primary checking is your regular account that you spend money with your debit card or write checks from. The secondary checking is a great place to hold money that you would like to save, but aren't quite ready to commit to putting it in your savings account yet. And of the course the savings account is a higher interest earning account. The online banking for this account has MANY unique features and tools to help you manage your money and track your spending. You can compare month to month spending based on categories and find out where you save money. You can easily transfer money back and forth to your accounts with a click of a button. This is an amazing account for college students learning to manage money and also professionals who want more control over their accounts.

I have my day to day checking account with them, and I'm fairly happy. The drawbacks are that there aren't many locations close to me, which can be a challenge every once in a while. Also, the fees can get a little over the top sometimes, but, service is decent, my company also banks with them. All in all, I'm pretty satisfied with them. There are other banks with more locations, such as the big banks, but, bigger banks don't have the quality of service that you would find here.

I really like the virtual wallet. My company banks with them as well so I also am eligible for workplace checking. i have minimal fees and the customer service is phenomenal. I did have an issue with a fee once and the representative at the branch in Jenkintown, Pa went above and beyond to get the issue resolved. I am very happy with the account. The hours are great there is even a branch locally that is open on Sunday. No complaints here.

Little fees, but the fees they do apply are applied rather arbitrarily it seems. I find it much easier to transfer money between bank accounts at other banks with my PNC account than with other banks I have been a part of. Their hours are great, being open on weekends especially. I do sometimes have issue with my card being accepted at places-there seems to be an error with their debit cards that triggers a security lock which is why I still have my backup bank accounts. This is not a frequent issue, though.

I started using a PNC checking account when they had representatives at my college. The representatives were very friendly and clearly outlined everything I wanted to know about the account. Later in the day I decided to go to a PNC bank to open an account and all of the people working there were so friendly and helpful. Also the convenience of online banking was very enticing to me because I am on the move a lot.

We have used PNC Bank both in our personal and professional lives. We have Virtual Wallet, and a standard business checking account. We have loved the specialized customer service we receive any time we stop in the bank. The tellers know our name and even remember our little dog whether she is with us or not. I find the website very user friendly and always up to date with in seconds of making a purchase. I have never had a frustrating experience with PNC in any capacity. They are a joy to bank with.

I have been with PNC now for about 8 years and have had a Virtual Wallet for the last 5 years. I love the convenience of online banking, and PNC makes it super easy. Their site is user friendly, and makes it simple to keep track of your finances with a Spend Calendar, Bill Pay, Transfer to other Accounts, and even has a way that you can set aside money within your Spend Account for a specific purpose, like saving up for a trip.

I joined PNC when I saw a promotion for their Virtual Wallet. They offered a cash bonus for opening a checking account and doing direct deposit. I decided to give it a try, and have been very pleased. The Virtual Wallet is extremely helpful, and allows me to see all my activities on a graph. I get email alerts whenever I have a deposit go in, so I'm always up on what my balance is. They recently ran a promotion for their Visa Checkout. I signed up my debit card with them and received a Visa gift card in the mail within a week. So two thumbs up for a bank that has excellent customer appreciation and service.

PNC has been a great company to my family and I in all aspects. We have had our accounts since before they bought out National City and were worried about what changes would come from it, as well as if we would have to switch companies. The switch went so smooth we decided to stay with them, and we are glad we did. They have ATM's in a lot of places, which is great for us, always being on the go. Their staff is always kind and helpful whenever we need them, and we're on a first-name basis with our local branch, which is comforting. Highly recommend PNC to any one who needs to open a bank account, or switch to better company.

PNC Virtual Wallet is a great account to have if you want to manage your checking and savings account all in one screen online. The online interface is easy to learn and easy to use. It's very easy to transfer money between all your PNC accounts, including checking, savings and PNC credit cards. It is also easy to send money to outside accounts through PopMoney. You can set up BillPay to pay one time and regularly occurring bills.

Overall, this is the best checking account I've ever had. And on top of all of that it's free as long as you meet the balance requirements.

The one downside is that you are limited in the amount of in-bank visits you can make before you get charged a fee for each time you use services inside the bank. Online banking and ATM banking can be used whenever you like.

I have been with PNC for over 10 years. I upgraded my checking account to a virtual wallet a few years ago and it was a great decision. I love the website and being able to track my spending using the calendar. Being able to see what you have as well as what is going out soon is so helpful. I also use online bill pay and it is fast and easy. The customer service is always great if I ever have any questions. If you are looking for a new checking account I highly recommend PNC Virtual Wallet Spend.

I cannot say enough kind things about the checking service by PNC. Their Virtual Wallet with Performance Spend option was the first thing offered to me when I got a new job with direct deposit, and of course with the direct deposit they waived the monthly fee. I do not think I would pay 15 dollars a month for the online service knowing that there are free ones elsewhere, but I like it because it's free. What I like is easy transfers from checking to savings by "clicking the pig". He's very cute. I appreciate easy printouts of paperwork I need for taxes too. The app can be buggy. Sometimes the app refuses to open on my Android phone for no reason, but they do update it often and fix the problems every few days. Best part of PNC checking is being able to take pictures of checks and deposit them using my phone. Makes checking so, so easy!

I switched from a Chase checking product almost two years ago, and I couldn’t be happier. The online virtual wallet interface is one of the best online banking products I have seen, and it helps keep me on top of my finances. The interest rate for the performance account is small, but nice, however, the lack of a checkbook is a bit annoying (You can buy one, it just isn’t included). This coupled with the PNC Savings account I have, makes a very powerful and convenient online checking and savings tool.

I've been a member of PNC for 10 years now and they have certainly kept up with the times. They offer what amounts to be a free checking account if you use your debit card 5 times a month, which since most people don't carry cash and use a card is very reasonable. Their online interface is easy to understand and informative.

I have been using PNC as my bank for 4 years now and by far they are the best I have had any dealings with. I like that they offer a checking account along with two additional savings accounts, one short term and one long term. There is also a feature to monitor your spending habits, which helps to see where all your money is going each month and where you can make changes to save save more money. For the most part these accounts are free and you don't find that every where now days. ATM charges a refunded if you have to use a non-bank atm, and most all additional features are free to customers. I wouldn't change banks for anything at this point.

I've been using virtual wallet for several years now. It is an easy way to manage my money, and has been linked to my savings account so I never have to worry about over-draft fees. The interest rate is one of the best you will find on a checking account. They refund any ATM surcharge you may experience from using a non-PNC ATM which is always nice when you are in a jam and need money quickly. Overall, I have been very impressed with PNC virtual wallet performance spend.

In the past, I have banked at a few other banks. After moving, I decided to switch banks. I started an account with PNC, and I have been pleased ever since. They are there for me when I have questions regarding my account. If there is an issue, the issue is always quickly resolved. The customer service is excellent, and they have helped me plan for my financial future. I talked with a representative about my finances, and they gave me advice to help secure my financial future.

Recently, I just applied for an trial online service. It turns out to be a scam. I tried to contact them to cancel the service but most of time, there is no reply. Finally, It lets me cancel the service. But when I check my account, I see i keeping charging me $10 per month. So, I contact the PNC customer to block it from charging my card. Then I hope it will work this time.

I switched to PNC after moving to a city that no longer had my old bank branch. However I had no clue what I was missing out on by having a bank that actually cares! They have worked with me on several occasions to help me maximize my benefits as well as giving me adequate time to clear up any mishaps that happen. I now have multiple accounts with them and could not be happier, plus their mobile app makes online banking really easy!

I love my PNC Virtual Wallet but that $15.00 monthly fee can be a bit tricky. There are some months where I do deposit more than $2,000 but it is no always consistent. Sometimes I get charged the fee and sometimes I do not. I wish they had a better option so I would not be charged the fee. I also think the over draft charge is a little high. I try to be a good consumer and not go into overdraft but there are times when my math has been off and I went into overdraft. A 24 hour grace period would be nice as well.

In general I really like the Virtual Wallet, the only issue that I've had with it is the online banking. I find that it really doesn't work too well with Google Chrome. I often can see only the front page but can't get in to see the actual account activity. If I open in Internet Explorer it works fine, but since Internet Explorer is not my preferred internet browser, this kind of makes it a pain to log into. I also have had more fraud occur while using my PNC Debit Card then I ever did with any other bank. I don't know if that's just coincidence, since I have heard there's been a surge of debit card fraud lately, or if it's something with PNC's security.

I have the PNC Virtual Wallet with Performance Spend checking, but I'm here to talk about the growth (savings account). The interest rate is, like most accounts available, terrible, but what makes it worse is that I have to maintain 15,000 dollars across ALL accounts in order to gain a higher rate. If I don't maintain that exorbitant amount, I not only get poor interest but massive monthly fees. It is convenient because of the online banking, but that doesn't outweigh the negatives of the savings account.

I switched my checking account over from TCF Bank after I graduated from college. Comparing it to friends, relatives and my previous experiences with checking accounts, it is the best checking account/banking solution. The only negative thing I have to say is that at least in Milwaukee, where I live, the locations are not particularly convenient, but there are so many online and mobile resources I hardly need to go into a bank at all. The features I like most are unlimited ATM fee reimbursement, integrated savings account and credit card account all on the same screen, mobile check deposit, and the online interface. I would recommend this account to anyone.

I've been a member of PNC with a Virtual Wallet checking account for over four years now. I began banking with PNC Virtual Wallet Performance Spend checking at least two years ago. I have really enjoyed using PNC as my primary bank because the Virtual Wallet platform, mobile banking apps, and many locations are very convenient. The Performance Spend account allows you to earn higher interest on your purchases, and rewards me for making debit card purchases by giving my "Growth" (savings) account a higher interest rate for the month. I do not pay monthly fees for my account due to the amount of money I receive by direct deposit into my account each month. Compared to other banking accounts, this checking account is by far the easiest to use and one of the only accounts that does not charge a monthly fee (if you meet the criteria). One downside of this account is the debit card purchase rewards program--you are offered certain deals and must "click to activate" and be eligible, but I never shop at those places and so I don't receive anything for that. Otherwise, I really like it!

I've been a PNC Virtual Wallet member at the Performance Checking level since late 2008. While every bank has its issues, I've been extremely happy with PNC for my checking needs. At the Performance Checking "tier", there are very few fees (and most are reimbursed) and all of the convenience of the integrated "Virtual Wallet" experience. Customer Service has been friendly and helpful any time I've had an issue. I've looked at a lot of other banks, but for checking, I'm happy to stay with PNC.
