To avoid the monthly service fee of $7 your need to have a minimum balance of $1,500.
I started to sign up for online banking and towards the end it asked for my payment. Does that mean I am approved?

The Wells Fargo Preferred Checking account earns 0.01% interest on the entire balance, when the balance is $500 or more. You must maintain a minimum balance of $500 each day to obtain the interest. The account will not earn interest on any day the balance falls below $500.

What is everything I need to open a checking account? Can I use my tax return to open the account? I do not have an extra $50 to use to open it. Would I be able to get a debit card, not just an ATM Card? What's the minimum I have to have in my checking before charges or being closed? Is there a way around the monthly fee?

I have been banking with Wells Fargo (and formally Wachovia) since I graduated high school. I have always enjoyed the customer service and warm smiles I get, every time I go inside. I have never had any issues with my account. I wish, instead of letting my account overdraft for $35, that it would simply decline my card. I have really enjoyed using the App, as well. I am able to do mobile banking, including depositing checks straight from my phone and having some of the funds available immediately. Many of my friends, who bank elsewhere, are very jealous of this and are also jealous that I can make cash and check deposits at the ATM.

I have held a wells fargo checking account since they purchased Wachovia. As an account holder at Wachovia, i was a little worried about the change, but I couldn't be happier with everything wells fargo has done. I was able to keep my account number and "Way to save" account linked. My debit card is linked and i recently received the new card (complete with the chip for more security. This is a good thing, because my card number has actually be stolen many times. Customer service has been great, as they quickly reach out to me with any questionable purchases on my debit card and quickly erase any unwanted/stolen charges (no questions asked). I couldn't be happier as a wells fargo customer and will continue to be a loyal checking account holder of theirs for the future.

Overall I have been extremely satisfied with this checking account. The customer service has been fantastic. The tellers at the local branches are courteous, polite and efficient. I went in two weeks ago to my local branch and asked for some rolls for coins. The customer service rep advised as long as I am a checking account holder I can have all I want. I asked her if there was anything special I needed to do when I deposited the rolled coins (like write my account number on them or have a deposit slip) she advised as long as I have my debit card I could swipe it at the counter and then hand her as many rolls of coins as I had. Truly great customer service with a smile.

We have been banking with Wells Fargo for many years and this account type has definitely served our needs. We have never been hit with a fee because the requirements for maintaining the account are minimal: essentially, if you are working even part time with direct deposit, you should be able to meet the requirements to have the fee waived. In other news, the customer service we have at Wells Fargo is fantastic and we feel comfortable speaking with our banker about our needs.

I like banking with Wells Fargo since there is always an ATM around to use and plenty of branches to go to in person. The account is very basic and not a lot of bells and whistles. I was able to get some of the fees waved by making sure I had direct deposit. I like that there is no fees to transfer money to others. I have had good customer service but I have had my card frozen due to "suspicious" at in opportune times. I make a lot of online transactions and their security is very sensitive to multiple purchases in a short amount of time. I like having the security but think its too much some times. It was easy to fix but the timing sucked.

I have been with Wells Fargo for 7 years. I have always had great customer service and absolutely no problems with them. They're a great bank but the only thing I don't like is the monthly fee. Lots of banks have gotten rid of their monthly fees. If WF ever increases it, I will switch banks. $84 a year is a lot to be paying just for having "access" to their bank.

I used to have a Wells Fargo checking account a while back. It was horrible. I mean, the actual service provided wasn't bad, but their fees made everything just not worth it. They charged you a fee for everything. I mean, they even charge a fee to pay your bill online...who does that? After checking out how much money they take out of your account just for using them as a bank, it really feels like they are a huge rip off. I decided to leave wells fargo and take my business elsewhere.

What can I say about Wells Fargo Value Checking. This company is the reason I left and went to a credit union. Everything they can charge you a fee for, they will. Pay your bill online? There's a fee. Receive a statement in the mail? Another fee. Monthly fees, debit card fees, atm fees. After seeing all the ways they wanted to nickel and dime me I left that company and didn't look back.

My husband and I have an account here for about 4 years now, and I have to say that we are very happy. Usually with banks we have had in the past, something was went wrong, whether it was fees that weren't disclosed or poor customer service or slow processing time. But with this bank, everything has been very good. Recently, we fell into a rough patch during the month and one of our debit transactions made us go overdrawn. We reached out to customer service, who offered (Without us asking) to overturn the fee because they saw that we had been loyal, good customers. This is something that never would've happened with our previous banks.

I have had this checking account for quite some time now and the biggest issue that I have had was the fact that someone had stolen my information and purchased items using my money. The wonderful thing was within a weeks time they had refunded my money and I was overall surprised at how quickly it was refunded. Other than that one incident I have no other complaints. I get direct deposit so I don't have to worry about the fees that could apply. All in all I am happy with my checking account.
