WoodForest is the worst bank Ive ever dealt with. I got a direct deposit at wood forest for my unemployment benefits from new mexico, and for some odd reason, wood forrest refuses to release the funds to me and wants me to prove to them that I was elegible to receive another states benefits. Its not their job to verify unemployment claims, its none of their business whether im on unemployment or not or under what conditions I qualified for said benefits. Im not sure if they are even allowed legally to demand personal documents in regards to dealings I have had with other entities or companys. They wont call new mexico to verify the funds either. I dont think they have the right to pry into a personal matter such as unemployment or taxes. Its none of their business, they should veriufy the funds are there and release the hold immediately after funds post. Im speaking to a lawyer in the morning and we will see what my next plan of action is. I have everything they rae asking for but I just feel like they crossed the line by sticking their nose in my personal matters and acting like they will be the ones who deide if im eligible for new mexicos unemployment. Obviously new mexico thinks I qualified, but woodforest thinks they she just double check for therm,,,,what a joke

I am very disappointed as of lately. I am just learning from Wood Forest in Coal Township PA that I am being charged $6.95 each month due to not having a direct deposit from my employer, which my employer does NOT do direct depost AND because I can't keep $100.00 in my bank account each day when I AM living from paycheck to paycheck. I was a valued customer of Wood Forest since 2011 and opened an account with out direct depost and now all of a sudden customers are being charged this fee. Now I am rethinking of being a "valued" customer because of this ridiculous fee and looking toward switching banks after 5 years with Wood Forest. Yes, to some it's a small fee but not when you live paycheck to paycheck. Very unhappy here. I only gave Wood Forest 1 star because of being open on Sundays.

When I went to the local bank here to inquire about an account this was the first one they presented to me that I was qualified for. At first everything was great for the first few months and then every few months I would notice my account would be debited $36. At first I thought it was overdraft fees but then I asked the bank manager and they said they were miscellaneous charges kind of like a monthly fee except they may due it quarterly. So I only kept it open because I had bills that were automatically drafted from the account every month only to be informed by one of the bill companies that they hadn't received any payment from the bank account in over 2 months. Went to the bank to find out why and was informed that the account had a negative balance despite my depositing over $1500 a month; due to the fact that they tried to process there fees 5 times and each time they charged me a $36 overdraft fee. So I had to close the account and after finally sorting out everything I was refunded my overdraft charges. If you sign up for this bank please get them to explain your fees and anything else you have any concern about because they will change your account without ever noticing you first.

Woodforest is a fantastic bank. I love that they are always open and always in convenient locations. Every time I have had questions or needed help their staff is quick to help. Opening my account was a quick, simple, painless process. I do not have to deal with fees or anything out of the ordinary. My debit card was mailed to me quickly and without issue. I love this bank and recommend them to everyone I know!

I love Woodforest Bank. I'm self-employed and I get a lot of checks from customers, usually in the $100 to $500 range. Other banks usually made me deposit those even though they were made out to me personally, unless I had enough in the account to cover the check if it bounced. Woodforest has always allowed me to just cash the check, even when my account was pretty new. Did I mention they're open on weekends?

At first I didn't like the monthly service fee, but once I signed up for direct deposit with my paycheck it's no longer an issue. Their customer service is almost always pretty good, usually resolve any issues quickly. I also like how its really convenient that they're located inside walmart, so there's always a location nearby and you can stop and do your banking stuff on the way out from grocery shopping.

As a Wal-mart employee, one of the best things is receiving your check a day early. This has always helped. The bankers are very friendly and helpful. One thing I do not like is they have a program that allows you to over draft your checking account. This can be useful, however, I am not signed up for it, and it allows me to overdraft even though it's not suppose to.

Woodforest wasn't the best experience for me, unfortunately. There were always little problems that we had to deal with, such as balances that weren't accurate, which led to my wife and I not being able to access our money. And, even though we were customers of the bank, they did almost nothing to help us when their ATM shorted my wife $240 when using a card from another bank. We didn't keep it very long.

Exactly. I also had an instance in 2016 to wear their ATM shorted me $20 and they made me file a dispute claim because I did not use their ATM card. Also I wrote a review recently March 24th 2018 and I told what happened when I got a $10 bill from their ATM when I had requested $500 and all 20s came out ( they only give increments of $20 bills) except for that show more

I think Woodforest is a great place to have a checking account. They have more reasonable fees than some other banks and if you use direct deposit they waive the monthly fee. They sell money orders for 25 cents, which is helpful for paying bills. I had no issues banking there whatsoever. I found the staff and customer service to be friendly and helpful. I would recommend this bank to my friends.

Woodforest National Bank is my one and only bank. I absolutely love it. The service is exceptional. My checks come in the same day it is pending into my account. I once had a authorization hold on my account for my phone carrier charging me 6 times! That totaled out to be over $600. Any authorization holds that are on my debit card were released within a day once I spoke with Woodforest. The application for a revolving line of credit loan was the most simple process and took only a couple of days. Everything about Woodforest National is quick, concise, and a pleasurable process!

I love this bank. I started out with not so good credit, and they helped me get my good credit back by opening an account. Every experience I have had with them has been positive. They are the best group of people. I have had my account transferred to another state, and back as I have moved around. It was a simple process both times, and the staff at both places were very courteous. I love the app, as it has proven to be beneficial and reliable.

My biggest issue with the bank is that I was told if I took the GPS test and passed we wouldn't have to pay any monthly fees anymore and after we took the GPS and brought in our tests we are still having to pay the monthly fees. A bit disappointed about it but overall a good bank.

I recently opened a checking account with Woodforest National Bank located nationally in Walmart.
The best thing about the account so far is the convenience of the bank to my home. I am concerned though about avoiding ATM fees when I use my ATM card at other locations. It may cause me to even use the ATM less! I am very pleased however with the fact that I can overdraw my checking account by $100.00 and as long as it's paid within a certain amount of time, I wont be charged terrible overdraft fees! I'm sure once I learn where all the surcharge free ATM's are located It will be easier to use. Love the fact that their direct deposit is able to be set up quickly and effortlessly!
