WORST Account Opening Experience Ever!
I opened an online account there on 12/5. They took 2 days to "approve" my account then sent me a letter with the only last 4 digits of the account number. You need the full account number to log on the first time, so this was worthless. I called and had to be transferred three times and go through the full ID process each time. Everyone I spoke to was unfriendly and robot-like. When I finally lost it when asked to ID myself the third time, the guy lectured me about how I was speaking to him but finally provided me with my account number. After going through a lengthy registration process with more disclosures, I get to my account and find out that there is no trace of the transfer I requested when I opened the account six days ago. And the account I transferred from isn't on the "transfer from" account list. I called and they told me it takes 5 - 10 days to complete and online transfer. SERIOUSLY? Most banks take no more than 3-4 days and my primary savings bank, PurePoint Financial does it in 1 day! UPDATE: It's 12/13 and still no sign of my opening funds transfer...a transfer the rep verified thy have...who wants to bet it happens?
PNC's rate is currently .2% above PurePoint's but it's NOT worth the aggravation I have had to go through. I'll leave the $100 I funded the account with (if it ever shows up that is!) in there for the 180 days to prevent the $25 "early closure fee." I was going to move a lot more money when I opened the account, but PurePoint Financial wasn't on the list of banks I could transfer from...I should have realized that it was a sign NOT to do it...well I know now!
Horrible bank, horrible service and hold your money hostage, stay away! They wanted to keep my money after opening my bank account and held my money for one month with no reason and took forever to get my funds returned. BAD bank!!
I am trying to redeem a CD for my aunts estate. 10 days after I gave them an original death certificste and copies of Letters of Admin, they still cannot find the signature card for the account. And they claim to be professional. Wrightsville Beach Branch, WIlmington NC.
They won’t get my business.
Low rates and horrible customer service in Princeton, New Jersey. PNC told my wife she cannot cancel the renewal of a CD over the phone or online. She has to personally go to the branch in person. We live far from the branch in another state, but they know her there from many previous visits. They insist it is for her security and all banks must do it. Our other banks and financial institutions routinely take this kind of action over the phone or online. PNC is in the dark ages.
My experience with my PNC savings account has been superior and excellent. They have provided me access to the Virtual Wallet for online and mobile banking and they frequently send me updates regarding my balance. I would highly recommend utilizing PNC for a bank savings account. My previous experience with other banks has been substantially subpar compared to my current and ongoing experience with PNC. At any time if I have a question, their customer service answers quickly and efficiently and I am located near several branches if I’d like to walk in and have a face-to-face with an actual person any time.
I have a PNC savings account which I have had since I opened my account back in college, in 2003. It has always served its purpose, save my money and it does it well! I love the easy access to it and how it is linked to my checking account. I am able to access it with the mobile app and my life is absolutely better having a savings account at PNC. The customer service at this bank is also very good. I have had other banks before which I have had issues with previously and thankfully at this place I have been more than ok.
As mentioned before, the Virtual Wallet is a very unique type of banking that PNC offers. Within the account, they also provide a savings account for members to place money in known as a "Growth" account. The standards for the Growth account are very lenient, as nearly any sum of money placed in there will begin to gain a miniscule interest.
PNC doesn't take funds from your account or membership fees in order to have this account in place, even if it does not contain sufficient or massive amounts of funds inside. The customer service is great and the bankers are knowledgeable and provide every customer with a great starting pathway to saving their money and building their wealth at PNC.
I have a PNC Bank statement savings account. I've had it for about 3 years. I like it because it connects with my other PNC accounts and I get a higher interest rates provided I make extra deposit into my checking account. I don't make a lot of money on it but I don't actually think anyone makes any money on their savings account. I have a couple transfers I can withdraw from my savings your moms free of charge and it is of course FDIC insured. Every time I have any questions about any of my accounts with PNC Bank customer service representatives are always very nice and very helpful. I really like that they offer mobile banking and I can deposit money directly into my savings account from my smartphone.
To be honest, I am very disappointed with this savings account. The monthly fee for having below $1000 in the account is pretty annoying as it amounts to 1% at minimum of my funds in the account. In addition, the interest rates don't change enough based on the amount of money in the account. The breaks are at $100, $10K and $25K and those are huge jumps for the increased rate of return. This account seems to be for people with a lot more money than me although PNC pitched this account to me as ideal. I am disappointed.
I signed up for PNC accounts about 8 years ago and I've been OK with their savings. The interest rate is very poor, but the features are good otherwise. I signed up back with National City using "work perks" because my office actually has an ATM in it. Since I'm currently trying to eliminate credit card debt, I'm not keeping a substantial amount in savings so I don't work on the additional features much but I do appreciate the online access which is straightforward and easy to use. The mobile app works well on Android and iPhone but no love for my Windows phone.
In the event that in a given week, for this product, there were multiple applicable rates in our database based on different criteria, the above graph reflects the lowest interest rate recorded.
