I've had a Union Bank Regular Saving Account for several years and I'm fairly satisfied. It's a basic account but I opened the account because I only needed an initial $50 deposit. They have a tiered variable interest rate so I've earned more money as I've built up my savings. I've kept enough money in the account to avoid the monthly fee which is definitely an added benefit. The only real problem that I've had with the bank is that it takes a while for deposits or transfers to be credited to the account and appear on my online banking statement. I have other accounts and my deposits/transfers appear the next day but it usually takes several days with Union Bank. It's not too big of a problem but it's not convenient either. I've only had to call their customer service line a few times and though the waiting time was longer than I'd prefer, their representatives were very professional and informative.…show more
This savings account has served me well for over 15 years. The interest rate on it is fair, and Union Bank has been an amazing company to cooperate with. I have had no problems with my account in regard to customer service. There are little to no fees for keeping my savings account, which is one of the best things about it. It is also very easy to manage the savings account online, including transferring money in between accounts, such as to and from a checking account. If I had to do it all over again, I would choose Union Bank everytime.…show more
My daughter just moved and we wanted to open a checking account for her that had a local branch. Specifically near her house. Her adventure led us to Union Bank, which apparently specializes in corporate asset management. So I guess I wasn’t that surprised when they really tried to stick us with a buttload of fees. The tellers and representatives act more like salesmen. Their customer service is a joke and their facilities are poorly maintained. Their security, or lack thereof, would make most of us laugh. An 80 year old “rented” cop isn’t going to do much to stop an assailant. Back to the point, I would not bank with Union Bank even if it was my last option.…show more
I have my business, personal and soon to be home mortgage with UB. The personal, responsive, and helpful customer service have made them stand out from all previous banks I have worked with. To top it off, there are NO FEES for having money (hint: WFargo), using or not-using (hint: BofA) my money. No fees for talking to a live person (hint: WFargo). And when I wanted to modify my online banking experience to access all my accounts in one portal, they made it happen and I received live-follow up courtesy ensuring everything set-up as I requested. If I walk in, they even know my name - I live in the Bay area. All they need now is an HSA plan option, and they can have all my business. UB has raised the bar in bank customer service - finally!!…show more
I've been with Union Bank for a few years now. I use them primarily for an extra savings account for an emergency fund. They are very easy to work with and let me open a regular savings account with just $50! While no savings account earns a great deal of interest, this one has served me well for my rainy day fund. Union bank has always had friendly, knowledgeable customer service reps available and they really try to make the banking process as straightforward and easy to understand as possible. I have had a great experience banking with Union and I'd recommend them as either a primary or secondary bank.…show more
