Horrible company! Allows contractors to commit blatant fraud, drags the dispute on for 90 days, and then sides with the contractor who has OBVIOUSLY submitted fake "evidence". Doing all of this while continuously asking for more documentation, that has absolutely nothing to do with the case. How is a person suppose to get a "refund authorization" from someone who is a scam artist?!?!? That makes absolutely zero sense. Way to be incompetent. My dog has more common sense than your "investigators".…read more
The worst bank ever! Your money is unsafe with this bank, when you will have hard time and ask this bank help you they will make your situation even harder, and they will try to cheat you if they could. So don’t have any deals with this bank even if it close to your house but if you already a customer leave this bank as soon as possible before you get hard time and this bank will take advantage on you! I had account in this bank more than a year and what I’ve experienced. Someone took about $300 from my account in Japan without my card, so don’t be impressed that this bank says that we have secure cards with cheap, the account security is so weak that hackers don’t need not you, not your card for grub money from your account in this bank. And security system so stupid that it can’t figure out that if I pay with this card a few hours before in Miami I can’t be already in Japan. And after I report about this fraud in this bank they said that they will investigate this problem and if all OK I’ll get refund within 10 business day! It sounds like this is my problem that Citibank gave my money someone in Japan! And I guess I’m lucky that they didn’t took all my money because it would be hard be without money within 10 business days! And they try to cheat you if they can! For example I pay nothing for use my debit card if I make at least one registered transaction, other way I have to pay $10. So I created an auto payment for my phone so I didn’t worry about this. But in several month I saw that I was charged $10 as monthly payment. I contacted bank throw chat but they said this is because your money was sent later so it wasn’t in my cycle period and refused refund me my money! Like this is my problem that this bank sent it later though money was available on my account and it was the auto payment, so bank sent it itself! And only after I called in bank they refund me money. And the worst thing from this bank is that if you have a problem get your money and ask Citibank to help you with this they will make you time harder. For example, I won some expensive lot and was a little short in money for pay for it but I thought, not a big problem tomorrow I will have a pay day and I have $300 available right now and $200 on next day as usual. I was need $400. So I asked bank on chat if they can give me $400 immediately after deposit my check, he said I have to ask it in bank. So next day I went to Citibank bank deposit my check and saw that now available immediately not $300 but only $100! When I asked what happened they said the bank changed its policy. I asked why? They said bank can do it when it wants and how it wants without any notification of clients. I asked help me because other way I will have to pay late fee if I will not pay now but they help me nothing. You may think it is happened sometimes. When I again had the same problem and asked bunk again help me cash my check faster they said it is federal law and they can cash my check up to 7 days! So they gave me nothing on next day and said I have to wait till Wednesday for completely cash my check, though I said I need pay my rent and I need this money as soon as possible! So my recommendation never have any deals with Citibank and if you already customer of Citibank leave it as soon as possible for you and your money safety!…read more
I like being a Citibank Citigold customer, but did you know that effective November 1, 2016 the minimum balance (includes linked accounts) of your savings, investments, and retirement accounts in total will be $200,000! If you are a Citigold customer now but you don't qualify on Nov. 1st they'll convert you to another package! Good luck with the $200K minimum. Looks like I may be looking for a new bank!
I signed up for the $500 bonus on 50k if you keep the balance for 90 days. I completed 90 days on 6/11 and am still waiting for the bonus amount. I called citigold customer service and talked to them 2 weeks ago, they said that i would receive an email in 2 days and it will be looked at. I did not receive any email, called them back, the rep tells me that the case is open will take a week. Today i celled them back and this lady tells me that it will be more than 30 days for investigation. I dont understand why it would take 30 days to verify that my account meets all requirements. On top of all, the customer service has no apology, i asked for the superviser and she was rude and cold. This is it and you ahve to wait. i should ahve just opened an account with Chase, you dont even have to follow up on bonus with Chase. They auto credit it and it is all hassle free. Here i am sitting calling them over and over with no clear answer onw hen it will be resolved. DONT GET FOOLED!! Just to chase. Never coming back to CITI and mind you it is not a small amount. 50k and you dont get an aplogy.…read more
If I could do zero stars I would. I signed up for the account in connection with the 50,000 AA mile promotion. It has been the most incredible hassle to figure out--even after I was assured I met the requirements, I was then told nevermind, you didn't, and now it's too late. Don't waste your time. I have never had such a terrible experience with a bank. Don't trust them! You'll get a different story from each agent.…read more
Terrible banking experience and a fraud. I signed up for their 30,000 AA Miles promotion back in September and made multiple calls along the entire process to ensure I qualified for the promotion and met all the completion requirements. After being assured by 3 different agents on separate occasions that I had completed all requirements, I was told that I should expect my miles by February at the latest. February came and the miles were nowhere to be found, made another call and was told that this time they'd hit my account by March. I called them around March and was told I was missing a W9 form on file with them, so they could "verify" my account. After submitting the form 4 different times to 2 different fax numbers, and mailing it to 2 separate mailing addresses, they finally "found" my form. I was told they had to conduct an investigation as to why I couldn't be awarded the miles and the "investigation" lasted 2 months, at which point they told me that I didn't qualify for the promotion. They wasted my time and money, telling me I qualified at first, and assuring me I had completed the requirements only to drag it on and tell me I didn't qualify half a year later. Worst banking experience I've had.…read more
Same as the last reviewer. A complete farce and scam. I completed my promotion requirements back in january albeit without the $50k deposit and been waiting for my 50000 thank you points ever since. Have to pay a $25 fee every month to keep the account active but apparantly the bank manager who opened my account opened a regular account package instead of the citigold package. So in lieu of the 50000 thank you points I was suppose to receive I got 20000 after a little hassle. I went back to the branch where I opened my account and the manager apologized and tried to credit me the remaining 30000 points. Needless to say they gave me the run around after waiting patiently for over a month and and a half they collected another fee before telling me too bad and you're stuck with what you have. Oh by the way you also never had $50k in your account so thats why we cant no longer work with you. What account? The one that was never opened since I was given the wrong one to begin with. And where in the promo says that it was a requirement? They couldnt give me a straight answer except to tell me move along before I get someone in trouble. Totally unprofessional and unacceptable. Take my advice go to other banks for more honest and reliable promotions. Because when it looks like it's too good to be true, it definitely is with these guys.…read more
I recently joined Citibank and opened an Access Account to deposit my funds from my online business. In the week I've been a member their customer service has been fantastic and I am so pleased with my account. You don't see service like that often.…read more
Citibank is not the bank I chose originally, but when my girlfriend and I combined finances, this is the institution she used. Putting me on her account was easy, until I tried to use my card anywhere. The banker put my name and card info with a weird mix of an old address with her mothers zipcode that took forever to figure out. Once we got that figured out, we ran into new problems: the hours of the bank. If I need to do anything at the bank before or after work, I'm out of luck. Our local branch is only open 10am-5pm weekdays. Going in means either hoping for an odd weekday off or requesting time off of work. We still use this bank, but once we move out of Bakersfield we will probably be switching to something that has more customer service in mind.…read more
I've had nothing but good experiences with Citibank. I had to set up an account since my other bank account started charging me an annual fee for not having a set minimum balance in my son's account. I found a Citibank account which was made for students and set one up with them for my son who's just starting college. He's had no problem accessing the account and the minimum required in the account is incredibly low compared to the one thousand I had to keep in checking in the previous. I haven't had to call their customer service because I haven't had any problems with them so far.…read more
Citibank Citigold is without question the worst banking experience I have ever had. Nothing else remotely comes close.
Citi offers a $400 bonus for opening an account with $50K and leaving it in the account. Good luck ever collecting it, though. The promotion is a total sham.
I opened my account in February, it's now September, and no bonus. They claimed it would be paid 90 days after meeting the account opening requirements, but that milestone came and went months ago. I call them and I get bounced around the phone banks from one bumbling and useless account rep to another.
There are tons of really good and competent banks out there. TD is great, as is B of A. Schwab offers a banking service that offers everything Citi does with much lower minimum required balances.

Out of the 3 years that I have banked with Citibank, I have had very few issues, but, the issues that I HAVE had, were very problematic and I had a hard time getting them resolved. The main problem I had was direct deposit. I had set it up correctly, but my money was not getting deposited. After talking for hours on the phone, we determined that the numbers that were given to me on a sheet of paper from the bank that were needed for direct deposit, were the wrong numbers. Other then that though, it's been a great bank to bank with.…read more
Citibank really does a good job and cares a lot about their customers. Whenever I have a problem or there is a charge that I don't recognize, Citibank is always there to help. They offer low fee checking accounts which is great since we make every effort to avoid fees. In addition to this they have a great selection of credit cards to choose from with fantastic rewards programs. The only thing I wish that they would change is there online interface could be a little easier to use and the could integrate it more with the rewards program so you know exactly how many points you have in order to use. When it comes to which bank I will be using for the rest of my life, I think citibank is a safe bet.…read more
Citibank is big bank with many locations. I have been a member for around 5 years after switching from a local credit union due to a move. Citibank does not have the same kind of family feel that my old credit union had, but it gets the job done. I am able to pay and keep up to date with all my accounts from my computer and even pay them off, which I have to admit is pretty convenient even for a dinosaur like me who barely understands technology. The only thing I wish is that the checking or savings account would actually accrue money, however I understand this is more an issue with our time than the bank. Overall nice bank, gets the job done, and always is there when I need to ask questions.…read more
I recently traveled overseas and my Citibank account was not being used for some time. After a while, I decided to check my balance using online banking and I was shocked to see my account was a few hundred dollars overdrawn. While my account was inactive, Citibank had kept charging me some fees and my account got overdrawn, then the fines for overdraft kept augmenting up to hundreds of dollars. I immediately contacted the bank's customer service via chat to get clarity and the lady was so understanding and friendly. She also was able to wave more than half of the fee, which reduced my negative balance. I was so happy with the way my problem was understood and taken care of that I recommend Citibank to most of my friends and relatives. Their customer support is excellent.…read more

Citibank has a lot of products, but they clearly think of their customers as numbers, rather than their clients. Recently, they began charging me a $25 per month fee because I don't have enough money. Apparently they feel like those who are rich are more important than those who are not. They will not offer any exceptions to that rule. Personally, I believe they looked at their balance sheets and saw how much extra money they could make, and made the appropriate move. Their products are good, and their online banking website works very well, but I certainly feel like I am staying with them because it is difficult to move to another bank, not because I like them.…read more
Citibank was always been a very reputable bank and because of this I have been a loyal customer for the past 5 or so years. I live in a fairly big city in south Florida and when I first opened my account with Citibank, there were plenty of branches nearby. In recent years, Citibank has closed many of their branches here. Right now there are only 2 Citibank branches left in my area and they are both about 15 miles or more from my house. This is extremely frustrating for me because I don't have the time to travel that far to go to a bank.…read more
Citi Bank is probably the most frustrating and insane bank I have ever dealt with. I originally signed up for them because my brokerage company was also a Citi property and I was promised an ease of transfer between the two. This was not true. In fact, it made no difference whatsoever. It was a flat out lie. Secondly, their fees are out of control! They charge high overdraft fees. AND! They charge you a high fee if your checking account dips below a certain dollar amount, which kept me in a constant state of paranoia. Third and finally, they make it impossible to close an account. I had two accounts with Citi and wanted to close one. What followed was two weeks of customer relations hell. This is big evil Wall Street at their worst.…read more

Citibank's Basic Banking Checking account is pretty good in some ways but there are a few downsides.
On the upside, you can sign up online and there's no minimum balance required. That's pretty convenient, most banks you need to sign up for in person. They provide good services otherwise as well, this is a great checking account/bank for someone just starting out.
There is a monthly fee though you need to be careful of. You can avoid it with a large enough balance in your account but this can be difficult if you're a student or have a lower income.
Overall, it's a pretty good checking account with some unique convenience features, I'd recommend giving it a look.…read more
Recently I just opened a new checking account with CitiBank. I am very happy with it for a number of reasons. I was able to set it up online and the best part was I did not have to make an initial deposit. The customer support through the process was phenomenal and I would highly recommend Citi to anyone!
The application process takes a long time. It takes nearly 2 to 3 hours to just set up a checking account. When I have problem, and I call customer service over the phone, they are not helpful at all. However, when you have a dispute about a charge, you will be able to get a temporary credit, and the bank will reverse it within 30 days if they found it to be invalid. A lot of promotion with digital product, and definitely not a bank that you expect to do things in person.…read more

I opened a checking account with Citibank a little over a month ago. I received a debit card, and am very pleased with the service so far. There is no minimum balance required, and no fees. It's almost too good to be true thus far. They have ATM's in every 7-11 I've been in, which makes getting cash at any time very convenient. I've banked with Citi for a number of years. If I go into a branch, they have been very nice and usually helpful. But, there customer service over the phone is terrible. I've never had a company give their customers more of the run around trying to resolve an issue. And I don't understand why the first real person you speak to on the phone can't help you and always needs to send you to a supervisor. I used to be a customer of Citibank until recently they closed down all of their smaller, local branches and moved to one large branch that is several hours away. I had been with Citibank for almost 10 years and for the most part it was a reliable bank. However, I have had several issues with the bank throughout the years that I felt weren't handled the best way that they could be. The customer service from the tellers was excellent but because of some bank policies their hands were tied when it came to resolving issues quickly and efficiently. All in all I don't regret my experience with Citibank and I would cautiously recommend it to a friend.…read more
