1 star rating is over rated! terrible bank! I use to be citgold, but there was forgery on my check and ciitbank did nothing about it! They let the forgery happen with all my signature specimen with them and they let the thief go. DONT TRUST CITIBANK! they are THUGS!
Signed up for a promotion and had my money "locked" into an account with them for 3 months. After I didn't get the promotional money added to my account, they said I never met the terms of the promotion, so essentially I lost $200 due to their disorganization. Getting in touch with an actual person was almost impossible as well. I would never recommend this bank.
Horrible company! Allows contractors to commit blatant fraud, drags the dispute on for 90 days, and then sides with the contractor who has OBVIOUSLY submitted fake "evidence". Doing all of this while continuously asking for more documentation, that has absolutely nothing to do with the case. How is a person suppose to get a "refund authorization" from someone who is a scam artist?!?!? That makes absolutely zero sense. Way to be incompetent. The worst bank ever! Your money is unsafe with this bank, when you will have hard time and ask this bank help you they will make your situation even harder, and they will try to cheat you if they could. So don’t have any deals with this bank even if it close to your house but if you already a customer leave this bank as soon as possible before you get hard time and this bank will take advantage on you! I had account in this bank more than a year and what I’ve experienced. Someone took about $300 from my account in Japan without my card, so don’t be impressed that this bank says that we have secure cards with cheap, the account security is so weak that hackers don’t need not you, not your card for grub money from your account in this bank. And security system so stupid that it can’t figure out that if I pay with this card a few hours before in Miami I can’t be already in Japan. And after I report about this fraud in this bank they said that they will investigate this problem and if all OK I’ll get refund within 10 business day! It sounds like this is my problem that Citibank gave my money someone in Japan! And I guess I’m lucky that they didn’t took all my money because it would be hard be without money within 10 business days! And they try to cheat you if they can! For example I pay nothing for use my debit card if I make at least one registered transaction, other way I have to pay $10. So I created an auto payment for my phone so I didn’t worry about this. But in several month I saw that I was charged $10 as monthly payment. I contacted bank throw chat but they said this is because your money was sent later so it wasn’t in my cycle period and refused refund me my money! Like this is my problem that this bank sent it later though money was available on my account and it was the auto payment, so bank sent it itself! And only after I called in bank they refund me money. And the worst thing from this bank is that if you have a problem get your money and ask Citibank to help you with this they will make you time harder. For example, I won some expensive lot and was a little short in money for pay for it but I thought, not a big problem tomorrow I will have a pay day and I have $300 available right now and $200 on next day as usual. I was need $400. So I asked bank on chat if they can give me $400 immediately after deposit my check, he said I have to ask it in bank. So next day I went to Citibank bank deposit my check and saw that now available immediately not $300 but only $100! When I asked what happened they said the bank changed its policy. I asked why? They said bank can do it when it wants and how it wants without any notification of clients. I asked help me because other way I will have to pay late fee if I will not pay now but they help me nothing. You may think it is happened sometimes. When I again had the same problem and asked bunk again help me cash my check faster they said it is federal law and they can cash my check up to 7 days! So they gave me nothing on next day and said I have to wait till Wednesday for completely cash my check, though I said I need pay my rent and I need this money as soon as possible! I like being a Citibank Citigold customer, but did you know that effective November 1, 2016 the minimum balance (includes linked accounts) of your savings, investments, and retirement accounts in total will be $200,000! If you are a Citigold customer now but you don't qualify on Nov. 1st they'll convert you to another package! Good luck with the $200K minimum. Looks like I may be looking for a new bank!
I signed up for the $500 bonus on 50k if you keep the balance for 90 days. I completed 90 days on 6/11 and am still waiting for the bonus amount. I called citigold customer service and talked to them 2 weeks ago, they said that i would receive an email in 2 days and it will be looked at. I did not receive any email, called them back, the rep tells me that the case is open will take a week. Today i celled them back and this lady tells me that it will be more than 30 days for investigation. I dont understand why it would take 30 days to verify that my account meets all requirements. On top of all, the customer service has no apology, i asked for the superviser and she was rude and cold. This is it and you ahve to wait. i should ahve just opened an account with Chase, you dont even have to follow up on bonus with Chase. They auto credit it and it is all hassle free. Here i am sitting calling them over and over with no clear answer onw hen it will be resolved. DONT GET FOOLED!! Just to chase. It has been the most incredible hassle to figure out--even after I was assured I met the requirements, I was then told nevermind, you didn't, and now it's too late. Don't waste your time. Terrible banking experience and a fraud. I signed up for their 30,000 AA Miles promotion back in September and made multiple calls along the entire process to ensure I qualified for the promotion and met all the completion requirements. After being assured by 3 different agents on separate occasions that I had completed all requirements, I was told that I should expect my miles by February at the latest. February came and the miles were nowhere to be found, made another call and was told that this time they'd hit my account by March. I called them around March and was told I was missing a W9 form on file with them, so they could "verify" my account. After submitting the form 4 different times to 2 different fax numbers, and mailing it to 2 separate mailing addresses, they finally "found" my form. I was told they had to conduct an investigation as to why I couldn't be awarded the miles and the "investigation" lasted 2 months, at which point they told me that I didn't qualify for the promotion. They wasted my time and money, telling me I qualified at first, and assuring me I had completed the requirements only to drag it on and tell me I didn't qualify half a year later. Same as the last reviewer. A complete farce and scam. I completed my promotion requirements back in january albeit without the $50k deposit and been waiting for my 50000 thank you points ever since. Have to pay a $25 fee every month to keep the account active but apparantly the bank manager who opened my account opened a regular account package instead of the citigold package. So in lieu of the 50000 thank you points I was suppose to receive I got 20000 after a little hassle. I went back to the branch where I opened my account and the manager apologized and tried to credit me the remaining 30000 points. Needless to say they gave me the run around after waiting patiently for over a month and and a half they collected another fee before telling me too bad and you're stuck with what you have. Oh by the way you also never had $50k in your account so thats why we cant no longer work with you. What account? The one that was never opened since I was given the wrong one to begin with. And where in the promo says that it was a requirement? They couldnt give me a straight answer except to tell me move along before I get someone in trouble. Totally unprofessional and unacceptable. I recently joined Citibank and opened an Access Account to deposit my funds from my online business. In the week I've been a member their customer service has been fantastic and I am so pleased with my account. The monthly fee is low and it is easy enough to have it waived just by having a qualifying direct deposit or paying a bill. Citi's fantastic customer service is enough to make me a loyal customer!
