My mother passed away December 2022 and had a trust account. I have had to be in touch and meet in person with a banker at least 6 times, each time informed of another form that they will require. My mother has been gone more than 2 months, and I still don't have access to this trust account. Once all the hoops have been jumped through, I will be withdrawing all monies from this terrible institution.

Worst financial institution ever. They locked me out of my account for trying to make a $6 purchase after letting some thief steal almost $600 from my account and then hung up on me twice because I was ticked off and upset when I called to try to fix the situation. After having to go there personally the kid at the branch gave me a hard time and sent me away without even letting me know if he was filing the claim to get the money back, and I can't check because I'm still locked out of my account. Worst financial institution ever. If someone recommends this place to you it has to be because they don't like you and want you to have the worst banking experience you'll ever have in your life.

A purchase was fraudulently made on my credit card in November. I immediately went to the bank to cancel my account. They refunded my money. In the meantime the fraudulent package arrived at my house and I did a return to sender and sent it back. The company told American Heritage that the package arrived and that I was responsible for the payment. The company admits the product is back in the warehouse but will not refund my money. American Heritage took back the money they refunded and refuses to do anything stating they can only file a dispute one time. I'm out $160 dollars and endless hours of frustration over fraudulent activity.

ZERO stars. do NOT open an account here. They screwed me over with my account, refusing to give me a new card for free when my old card expired. Seriously? They try to charge you for EVERYTHING possible. I switched to TruMark. Today, they sent my 7 month pregnant sister crying and would not explain to her why she cannot cash in change to a negative account when the money was for me. I (her sister) had to call and demand an answer. The customer service here SUCKS and all of their policies do. GO TO TRUMARK. We will be closing her account next week just like mine. I'm not one to write reviews, but I am so disgusted with this location. This review will not get me my money back, but hopefully save someone else from theirs. My entire family will be switching to TruMark.

If not a member, refuse to cash their own cashiers check unless you pay an additional 5.00. More like the American Heritage Check cashing store. Thought I was dealing with a money lending store in the hood, not a likable credit union.

I have banked at American heritage for the past 17 years and I've never had a problem with them before today. I even got a mortgage through them and have always raved about their services to my friends. But like i said today was different. I called to take the protection fee of $5.00 off of my account after finding out my friend, who i recommended to American heritage by the way, pays way less for overdrafts than i do on his same kind of account that i have. And i was told that this is what the protection fee was for. Anyway, i called and spoke with Randall who as soon as i explained my reason for calling acted like he wanted to rush me off the phone. I asked him to explain the difference of the accounts with and without the protection fee and he gave me a simple answer that i already knew, "One has the protection fee and one doesn't". Yea well i already knew that! After he told me he made it where he took the the fee off my account in the future, i asked him to reverse the money they already took which was only yesterday, he said he couldn't do it. And with a nasty attitude like it was his money. I immediately asked to speak to a supervisor because i knew that wasn't true. After a couple of minutes he got back on the phone and said he spoke to his supervisor and she said it was okay to reverse the money. After today because of that one call i can see the service here is going down the drain. It only takes one.

I applied for membership online. Then they had sent me a blank application, a notary form and other vetting forms to fill out. I paid $15 for the notary and submitted $25 for the deposit. Today, I received a rejection notice saying that I was denied due to inquiries on Chexsystems. So why would they have me do all that crap for nothing? I wasted $15 for the damn notary that they didn't plan on using anyway.

Yeah I’ve been denied by them also. I applied to Trumark FCU was approved for checking and I opened a credit card. Take your money elsewhere if they don’t want it! Good luck!

I've been a member of AMHFCU for about three years now. I switched to the credit union after dealing with multiple banks and their fees for too long. What I like most about AMHFCU is that there is no monthly fee for the Checking or Savings account. Also their customer service is great when you go into a branch, someone is always ready to help you.

Unlike most of the reviewers, I am a customer of American Heritage but not a new one. My experiences with AMHFCU have not been enjoyable. To begin with, they require an entirely new application each time you open another account. That is completely ridiculous and a waste of time. They misspelled my name not once but twice on my checks; not a huge deal but having to deal with it is very annoying. My debit card randomly worked: sometimes it would say wrong pin, sometimes it would work. I had to drive to a branch that is 25 miles from me, because my local branch could not fix it. This happened three times in total, once to my wife, and twice to me. When I call customer service about it, all they say is go to your branch. They are not able to change a pin at the customer service center? What is that? Want to open a business checking account? They ask for so much unnecessary paperwork that I decided to leave it and go to a “big bank”. Aside from interest on my checking accounts, I have not seen a single benefit at this credit union over other financial institutions and will not be back. Their rates aren't much better than other institutions, and the customer service is also not any better either; I would venture to say they are worse than what I have experienced elsewhere.

I was only a member of American Heritage Federal Credit Union for a short time (2 years), but the time I had with them was nothing but positive! I should start off by saying that the reason I 'left' American Heritage was because of a move and it was no longer convenient to use this Credit Union. The branch that I was a member of is very well kept and is beautiful. I had a 'Totally Free Checking Plus' account with them, which I enjoyed. I am not one to like accounts where you need a certain balance or you get charged a fee, so this checking account was perfect for me. I also liked their 'Holiday Savings Account' option. I took part of that both years that I was a member, because it really helped come Christmas time! So if you need a place to put money away for the holidays definitely look into that option. Every time I needed to go to the credit union the service was quick and pleasant. The tellers were friendly and readily available to help me and made sure I had all answers to my questions. The application process was painless. As a customer, I look for quick and friendly service. American Heritage has all that plus some.
The only negative aspect is their hours for service, both by phone and lobby. They are closed on Saturday and Sunday and most days only open to 5 or 6. Plus, if you need to use the Call Center you need to get all your questions in before 6 or 7pm, because then it just turns to an automated machine. So in that aspect it was frustrating, because sometimes I needed to deposit something over the weekend and just didn't have that access. If you don't mind depositing through ATM machines, then that wouldn't be a problem for you. I didn't have any official problems, as I wasn't there long enough, but any questions I was curious about were answered efficiently. If I didn't relocate, then I am sure I would still have my account here. I felt happy with American Heritage as a customer and would recommend them to a family or friend that were looking.
