Chemical Bank is a slow bank. I would highly recommend going to any credit union or even any other bank over Chemical Bank. If you want to wait almost a week for your funds to be available from a mobile deposit (they don't even give up to a certain amount), then this is the bank for you. Most of the time that might not be an issue but in those rare occasions that you need the money to be available within a couple days, you could be in a world of hurt. Luckily I have a credit union account also, so I see much better customer care. Even if it's not better customer care, it has that feel. Chemical Bank has a feel of they will only give you money after they are 100% sure they will get the money first. I know money is what "makes the world go around" but we also need our money in a timely manner and at this day and age, it shouldn't take that long. So adios Chemical Bank.
DO NOT USE CHEMICAL BANK, they rely only and i mean only on unreliable e mail to do there relations with you, They just made a change in there online system and blew out all my info and stuff it took hours to type in. When called i was told you should have got e mail, I DID NOT, if they are going to make major changes to your account any good bank would still use the good old United States Post office or make a call to you on phone for such major chages, Save yourself a headache pick a different bank
Our checking account is upfront and easy to understand. If thats all you want you will be in the right place. Trying to set up a rewards card account associated with the checking account is a joke and customer service is no help.
Chemical Bank in Sanford, Michigan is an excellent bank to do your business with. They have great customer service and a friendly atmosphere. When I went in a few months ago to set up a checking account the banker that worked with me was very helpful and patient. She even went out of her way to help me set up E-banking and download their app. She let me us her computer in her office and helped me through the process. Very good bank to have.
I have been a Chemical Bank customer for over 12 years now. I opened the account when I was younger and have kept the account through to my adult life. Their customer service is outstanding! They have always been there for me as my bank and have helped me make sound financial decisions. I obtained my first loan from Chemical Bank a number of years ago, and have been using them as my banking institution ever since!
If you're a Michigan resident this is a pretty good checking account. Compared to their ChemBasic version. This version offers an interest rate on whatever you have sitting in your account. This interest applies to any account balances 1 dollar and up. Chemical Bank has impeccable customer service that makes you feel like a valued customer. It's as easy as walking into a branch to sign up, you don't even have to meet with a banker they'll do it right at the teller window. I've never had a bad experience with these guys, if you live in Michigan check them out.
I have moved around a lot, and I have had checking accounts with many different banks. Chemical Bank's basic checking is by far the best. First of all, there are no monthly fees at all, no matter what your minimum balance is. You can't find that anywhere else. Second, I have gotten the best customer service help from Chemical Bank representatives. On a couple of occasions, I have even been able to have overdraft charges reversed due to oversights on my part. When you have a good explanation and are willing to work with them, Chemical Bank representatives are willing to work with you. Other banks, in my experience, have been more "strict" as far as fees and things, even when the error was very minor. I simply appreciate small-town, community oriented atmosphere and the win-win approach to problem solving taken by Chemical Bank's representatives. Couldn't ask for more.
Can't beat banks actually based in your own state. I had a problem with my checking account once. I went to pull some money out only to find that there was a hold on my account. This was strange because I didn't have any outstanding debt or any reason for that to happen. A banker sat down with me, we looked into it, and it was a computer error which they immediately fixed. I'm not going to fault them for making a mistake, glitches happen. What's important is they treated me with respect and helped me immediately. Great customer service is what keeps people coming back. Beyond that, the account itself is also good. No monthly fees, good interest rate, and good online services. If you're a Michigan resident, Chemical Bank is the way to go.
I have had both a savings and checking account with Chemical Bank for several years and had been pleased with the service. They even helped me four years ago with obtaining a mortgage. The biggest issue I have with Chemical Bank is in relation to my checking account/debit card, which has had three instances of hacking/fraud in less than 18 months. Most recently, Chemical Bank deactivated part of my debit card usage with NO WARNING; therefore some of my bills did not get paid. They issued me a new PIN, but failed to issue me a new Debit card within 10 business days, yet deactivated my current card anyway. Needless to say, I am glad that I opened an account at a new bank before the 10 days was up, and I will be removing the small remainder of money from Chemical Bank and CLOSING the account permanently. Customer service has gone downhill fast over the past 2 years or so, I feel no connection with this bank at all, even after 9 years.
Talmer Bank recently bought out First Place bank where I had a previous account. Soon after switching to Talmer, I get a letter in the mail saying I had a check that did not go through or had bounced that I wrote at my hair salon! I knew this was not possible because my best friend is my stylist, and I had her wait to cash the check until I transferred the money over (the next day) - she waited almost 4 days to cash the check at which time I had plenty of money in the account and the statement does not reflect a bounced check at all or any overdraft charges, etc! This makes no sense at all! I am waiting to hear back from the teller to see if she can figure out why I received the letter.
