One of the worst banking service in the US possible, I do not recommend anyone to have accounts with them, not surprising they are closing their branches, I had opened my checking and saving accounts with them, all the accounts are 6 months old, anytime I make check deposits , the accounts are hold for 12 days , they block my accounts from any access and then even an hour before of 7 business days they won't unblock accounts. 3 times in a month. My account has been frozen twice over the past five months. Citi takes forever to process the information, and the estimate of 4-5 days happens only after you contact them about it. My account is still currently frozen, and has been for the last few weeks. Right before the first time my account was frozen, the rep who I was in direct contact with ghosted me hard and made up these lame excuses as to why she couldn't help.

Poor Customer Service, Low Saving Interest Rate, Slow Process Last several years, Citibank customer service (banking) got worse and worse. The telephone customer service is the worst in the banking industry. Most of time, the holding time is very long. Many reps are not knowledgeable. They transfer you to different reps different departments back and forth, but could not get simple questions answered. You need to call back a number of times and spend hours and hours on the phone for the same issue. You try to open an account? 3 weeks later you receive a mail and find they open a wrong account for you. Or, a week later when you call to check the application status, they tell you they could not find your application. Also, the products are not competitive and the saving interest rate is extremely low. In addition, the external transfer takes 3-4 business days to complete. It takes 1 business day for other banks (even the small local banks) to complete the external transfer. Overall, Citibank entire system needs big and significant change.…show more

This bank has terrible customer service. I looked online on my accounts and it showed a $0 balance ( I freaked out because of how much money I deposited in it and it was missing. ). I called customer service, after waiting 10 minutes on hold the rep. they proceeded to tell me they closed the accounts. She could not tell me the reason why but I knew why. Almost 18 months ago I made money off of a cash bonus offer from opening up an account through them. There was another cash bonus offer last month so I did the same this time and of coarse I read all the rules to make sure I could get the cash bonus. So I know they black listed me but of coarse I can not prove it. I contacted their online chat and that rep. told me they closed the account due to not receiving the proper documents they requested. I opened a new account online and assumed everything was alright. Received my debit card but not my PIN. I called in to check the status and was told that it should be coming the next day. It did not. I called back in and was told that there was a hold on my account due to the power bill I sent in. No one had bothered to call and tell me this. I sent in the next months power bill and was told that the hold was released and guaranteed that my PIN would arrive Saturday, so I switched my direct deposit information to Citi. Again, it did not. I got a phone call the following Monday (yesterday) informing me that the couldn't take what I sent in because it was a pre-paid utility. I faxed over my paystub and called back in to try to get answers but no one gave two shits. I repeatedly asked for a supervisor but would not be transferred, instead I was told that I could verify my phone number and a manager would call me back within 24 hours. I still have not received a call back. And now, my entire paycheck is sitting in the account but I can't access it. I keep being told that it will be 24-48 business hours, which puts me out of money for a week. I have bills to pay and was lied to repeatedly by your employees. I will NEVER recommend CitiBank and plan to close the account as soon as my money is available to me. This is ABSOLUTELY ridiculous and the customer service is HORRIBLE. 1 star rating is over rated! terrible bank! I use to be citgold, but there was forgery on my check and ciitbank did nothing about it! They let the forgery happen with all my signature specimen with them and they let the thief go. DONT TRUST CITIBANK! they are THUGS!
Signed up for a promotion and had my money "locked" into an account with them for 3 months. After I didn't get the promotional money added to my account, they said I never met the terms of the promotion, so essentially I lost $200 due to their disorganization. Getting in touch with an actual person was almost impossible as well. I would never recommend this bank.
Horrible company! Allows contractors to commit blatant fraud, drags the dispute on for 90 days, and then sides with the contractor who has OBVIOUSLY submitted fake "evidence". Doing all of this while continuously asking for more documentation, that has absolutely nothing to do with the case. How is a person suppose to get a "refund authorization" from someone who is a scam artist?!?!? That makes absolutely zero sense. Way to be incompetent.
