Started out great with DCU , had no issues whatsoever . Eventually I did my car loan & personal loan with them . Once I hit rough times, they offered to help thier various programs, but they WILL lock your debit card up of you fall behind on your loan payments! Totally unacceptble and should be an illegal practice !
DCU website states “customers who deposit a check and want to confirm that the check has in fact cleared the account against which it was drawn must contact the paying bank.”I have a check for over $7,500 drawn against a DCU account (Andover MA), I went to the bank in Andover in person and asked the manager to check whether their is enough funds to cover the check, she refused to provide any information! She argued that since I do not have an account with DCU then I am not entitled to their services!!!!
I deposited the check and two days later went back to the bank and asked the manager to “please confirm whether or not the funds cleared their account “, once again she refused to provide the info! She stated I need to ask the financial institution where I deposited the check (Santander Bank) to call DCU in order to get a response. Santander Bank called the same manager and asked her whether or not the check has cleared, still DCU manager refused to provide any answer!…show more
I've been a customer for about 5 years and They don't allow you to use your hard earned money to make crypto purchases. It's not like I'm doing it with a credit card...who are they to decide what I do with my money. Should be sued honestly
I have no problem at all with DCU. I deposit my payroll check every friday and the funds are available in less than 30 minutes. They also approve my son for a car loan with a very low interest rate. Thank you DCU.
Awful experience after being a customer for 10 years. Told me that they had revoked my overdraft and had emailed me and called me, except they never did! I am closing my accounts! So disappointed in there customer service
I had an account with them for just a couple of months. They closed my account, w/o providing me the reason. I have some debt that I'm paying off. I have a credit score ~700 and never missed a payment since 2011. Probably they want customers who keep a lot of money in their accounts.
Before I receive their closure letter, I deposited $200 into my DCU checking using another CU's ATM. I was not aware of the fact that they already closed my accounts. Now It's almost a year and I still have to spend a lot of effort to find where is my $200.
Since they already closed my access to their online page, I cannot chat, send a secure message or send them an email. Therefore, the only way that I can reach them is through their call service which is not available after 5 pm EST. So I have to take personal time off to call them. I had a bad experience with them and don't recommend them to anyone.…show more

This a customer review of: (1) Web-site user experience and (2) Customer Service agent
Web-site user experience: - I made several ill-fated attempts to update my phone number on the website. The site did not allow me to update my phone number.
- when I called customer service, I was told that there was a flag on my account to verify my address, and thus the site wasn't allowing me to update my phone number
- I informed the agent I(her name is Alison), that the site did not recommend that I call in, she asked me "Why hadn't I called in? After my update phone number didn't work, I should have called the branch. The website was not supposed to provide any more information". So, I should try to update, and if it doesn't, then I should have automatically figured out that my next step should be call the bank.
- I tried to update my settings several times on the website for about a week, sent a secure email to the bank requesting for the change (which was unanswered and unacted upon). Alison had no empathy for a customer such as myself who had been struggling.
- From talking with her, I ended up feeling that it was my fault, that somehow I didn't get it. And I work in IT, building websites for a living...
- I've decided to part ways with DCU and end our association of the past 6 years and wanted to share my experience. I hope this helps someone make an educated and informed choice.
I currently hold DCU's Free Checking account. This checking account is quite amazing as it has a few features that my previous checking did not. DCU's free checking account offers a free FICO score that is updated every 30 days to its account holders who bundle their services. Personally, this works out great for me as I also hold multiple savings accounts and a small loan with DCU. The thing that I love most about my DCU Checking account is the lack of fees. I don't get charged for not having a minimum balance in my account, and there's no monthly maintenance fee(s).…show more
I've been a DCU customer for 5 years, and I love it. No fees for anything, higher interest on checking and lower on Visa than the big banks, friendly and efficient service, they refund your ATM fees from other banks, they have free bill paying and a full service website, etc. I've bought 2 cars with DCU loans, they always have the lowest rate. We no need to maintain minimum balance and no monthly fees for the checking account. They have free Online Banking and Online check Deposit. Even though I now live in another state, distance has never been a problem with this. They have an online feature which allows customers to scan in checks for deposit. We will get the amount within 24 hours.…show more
