In 3 words: Antiquated, Glitchy, Poor. 1. Antiquated, as in, Systems go down regularly and when you need to pay bills you cannot have an unreliable system of online banking. Also, went on vacation and had to call 800 number and speak to two people to notify them I'd be out of country so my credit card would work. My other credit cards? I went on their apps and did it myself in two minutes. 5/3 customer service travel specialist? "well, we're working on introducing that feature." Behind the times by about 4 years fellow! 2. Glitchy, meaning lots of little problems that add up to frustration. Such as little fees like a $6 monthly fee and another fee that I'm not supposed to have that I have brought to their attention on 3 occasions and each time was told they were "fixed". Well they weren't. 3. Utterly poor customer service phone loop from hell 800 number for everything. You can't call your local branch. On a branch level, the employees are fantastic. But as a corporation, 5/3 is one of the worst. And on consumer reports out of 680 reviews 5/3 has a 1 Star rating. Buy a Clue - 5/turd you suck.
Closed my account at 5th/3rd bank, I was given a cashiers check. Went to the branch on Clybourn and Damen was told is valid For 7 years, a 2nd rep over the phone tells me the same thing, but she wasn’t sure so I asked for a supervisor and the supervised had to ask her supervisor to tell me, it’s valid for 90 days, now this check has no kind of expiration date written anywhere, like other banks show “void within 7 years” or “void within 90 days” this check has none of that, so I kept it cuz is my savings and today I was told my check is expired. 5th/3rd bank customer service really needs to get proper training. Will close all my accounts and go to a better bank with better trained staff.
Our bank was bought out by 5/3 and it has been a terrible experience. Never received 5/3 cards that were originally sent out. Got a notice that our old bank cards were turning off in 5 days. Called and stated we never received our cards in the first place. They wanted me to pay $30 to expedite cards we never received. They were supposed to send out 3 total cards. One for my individual account and two for my husband and mine's joint. They sent out one. Back on the phone, trying to get the other two cards ordered, and again they want to charge me for the expedite fee. We receive the two missing cards and they are both in my name instead of mine and my husbands. Another phone call. Meanwhile, my husband placed an order for new checks at the branch. They never showed. While on one of these calls regarding the cards, I mention the checks. They look into see they were ordered but stated "something happened to the order". They assured me they were rebooking the order for the checks and we would have them in 5-7 business days. Those checks have never shown up either. The icing on the cake. My daughter opened up her own account to deposit her payroll checks from her first job. They are Village of Bartlett checks for under $300. The one she deposited on the 13th is on hold until the 26th for additional verification. Seriously, you are gonna hold some kids payroll money for almost 2 weeks? She is so bummed out and I am beyond livid. Of course their amazing customer service can't lift the hold, can't go outside policy, there is no one hear you can plead your case too, this is just the bank policy. Soon as her check clears, we are closing all 3 accounts and opening up an account elsewhere. Absolutely terrible experience with this bank from the moment they bought out MB Financial. Hey 5/3, I didn't ask for you to cut in....so if you're gonna, you could at least not step all over my feet.
I have been with this bank for over 10 years and I cannot wait to finally change from this outrages bank. I am pretty sure they have a system in place that let them know when you have low funds to process charges that are not even supposed to hit your account for another few days, this way they have the ability to charge the DAMN overdraft fees. I am currently facing an economic hardship and they want to charge me everything under the sun, I am pretty sure that with all the fees that they are charging me and I've paid over the years I sent the CEO's kids to college. I cannot expressed how much hate I have towards this bank. Please DO NOT even consider this bank for ANYTHING trust me you will REGRET it. OUTRAGES
I received a coupon to open a checking account and receive $250 in 60 days. I visited a branch in Oswego IL. I was waiting for the personal banker, Patricia Martinez while she finished with a customer. About 7 minutes into my wait another gentleman walked in. When she finished she approached the gentleman first to help him (she knew him) and told me to have a seat. After discussing non fee checking options, she then went to ask the Mgr a question and I could hear her conversing with a drive-up customer. She clearly was not interested in assisting me and stated " I am sure you are just opening this account for the $$ and then you will close" I stated not if a non fee account. She said perhaps a non fee account was available on-line and advised me to check. I did go home and check and yes, non fee account is available, however you are instructed to visit a branch or call a toll free number. You CANNOT apply online. Patricia never asked my name or if I was a current customer. I have a small savings account and previously held my checking with 5/3. She reaffirmed my decision to move my checking account business to another bank. Very poor service. Patricia needs a lesson in customer service.
You better keep your paperwork when you open up an account for a special promotion, because they don't want to honor it. 1st time I call, they tell me it should be credited soon. It qasn't, then I email them & they tell me something different, that I'm not eligible for the promotion. Then, when I call the 800#, he tells me a 3rd & different story. BEWARE, seems shady.
The only thing FIfth Third Bank is good at is stealing your hard earned money. They stole my entire paycheck after turning off my debit card for fraud and still let payments go through, leading to $30+ for every payment I thought would be okay to pay. No groceries, no gas money, just defeat. It is my personal endeavor to make sure that everyone knows that these people will smile and pat each other on the back as they trick you into giving them everything you have. Beware.
I was locked out of my online account and was told to call the customer service number. I called and was told to wait for the next representative on the line, waited 15 minutes and then the call automatically ended. I called again and the exact thing happened. I was told to wait for the next available representative and then after 15 minutes of waiting the call just ended. All I want to do is access my online account and not wait 15 more minutes just to be disconnected on their end.
