Terrible credit union. Don't do business with them. They don't care about customers at all. I have twice scheduled appointments and no one has ever bothered to follow up. Only after sitting on hold for 20mins was I told the status of my application. Not a good business.
When I signed up for FECU, they told me that there is only one fee which is the one-time membership fee of $5. I specifically asked if there are maintaining balance, a checking fee or savings fee, they said "No, just the one-time membership fee." I put in my initial deposit and never did any other transactions or even looked at the statements until this month (May 2017). First few months, no fee was deducted from my accounts. However, starting Jan 2017, they started charging me a Checking Fee. I called Customer Service, and the WORST Customer Service, not helpful at all. I asked if they can reverse the fees, she "No", just like that. Ok I thought. So, I asked her if I can just close my accounts, she said "Oh, I cannot do that, you have to write us a letter that you want your accounts to be closed," She might be telling me the truth that she cannot close the accounts, but I wish I had that conversation recorded, because the tone of her voice sounded like she DOES NOT REALLY CARE and that she will still get paid even if she doesn't give good customer service. WORST! WORST! WORST! WORST! WORST Customer Service!!!!!…show more
I quite enjoyed signing up for my First Entertainment account during the big move away from national banking a few years ago. The customer service was extremely helpful and explained any issues I might have from the start (ie the length of time they might hold a check for the first few months while verifying things, until you become known as a regular/reliable customer). I've now been there a few years and had no issues or problems the whole time. It's a great set-up and they have fantastic online customer service as well as phone service.…show more
My wife and I switched to this CU from an online-only bank, so the products offered here are similar to what we had before, with other credit unions and a wide ATM network propping up a CU with few physical outlets.
The experience with the union itself has been wonderful, and we've received great customer service at every turn. Signup was painless, benefits explanation was thorough, and everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful. The only drawback I've encountered thus far is a minor delay in receiving checks after signup.…show more
First Entertainment was the first bank I ever used. I have never had any problems with them and have always felt secure in banking with them. The only thing that did end up bothering me was the accessibility to cashing checks in another part of the region. When I lived in Oakland I had to go to the boonies in order to cash a check.
I really love First Entertainment Credit Union. They are always there to help me with anything that I need. They are very pleasant in person and over the phone. I have been a member for the past 10 years and I don't think I would ever leave them unless I moved out of state. I once received a car loan through them and it was very reasonable and they didn't try to stick it to me like so many other places have tried to do in the past. My friend told me about First Entertainment Credit Union and I am sure glad she did. I would recommended First Entertainment to all of my family and friends.…show more
When I first moved out to Los Angeles, I knew I needed a new bank and decided to take the credit union route. I did some research and found that First Entertainment Credit Union had great rates and suited my needs quite well. Opening an account with them was a breeze and everyone I dealt with was really nice. I had one small personal issue but was able to work out a small loan with minimal fees and interest. They really worked me with on that one! I do, however, wish that they had more branches. My office is located close enough to one, but if I'm off or working some where else for the day, it can be a bit inconvenient trying to find a branch. All in all though, it's a great credit union.…show more
After setting up an acct with First Entertainment Credit Union, I then initiated a fund transfer. I called beforehand to make sure it would be ok since the 30 day time frame to deposit was approaching. I was ASSURED that as long as I initiated the transfer before 30 days, it was fine. I waited patiently for several days but received nothing from First Entertainment.. no e-mail, no phone call. I signed onto my acct. and now my balance showed a NEGATIVE dollar amount instead of zero. When I called them, they said my acct had been closed because I didn't deposit money in time! BUT.. they had taken my money from my other bank! Incredulously though, they said at the same time that since the acct. was closed that they DIDN'T really have my money! My “old” bank confirmed the monies had been sent to First Entertainment, MORE calls.. they have NO idea where my money is or how to get it back! I go into my “old” bank and they actually spend a LOT of time helping me figure it out although they had NOTHING to do with the problem. With the information (ACH tracking numbers that ally wouldn't bother looking for) from my “old” bank, I call First Entertainment AGAIN (I don't even know how many times I called at this point). This time (after mentioning perhaps banking authorities might be notified) they miraculously are able to find the money! I am STILL waiting for the money to be returned to my “old” bank. Funny.. their claim to fame.. being an ultra modern, high-speed, web-based bank.. sure seems like BS when you consider it has been over TWO WEEKS and I STILL don't have my money back and they weren't able to find, track, or identify ANYTHING!…show more
My husband and I had accounts with First Entertainment Credit Union when he worked in the entertainment industry. We enjoyed banking there, the tellers were always friendly, and there was never a wait. I think it was $5 or $10 to open the savings account to join. In addition, people were always impressed when I used my debit card. The card had movie spotlights and was just a beautiful graphic are a debit card. People thought I was famous or married to someone that was. I agree with the other reviewer, there aren’t enough branches. When we moved up state, we had to find another bank.…show more
