Flagstar Bank Checking Accounts

This bank is very bad at online systems. I have had to call customer service numerous times because the software is poorly written and account management doesn't work. Today I finally decided to give up on banking with them and tried to transfer my checking account balance. The system broke and I have to wait up to 48 hours to get my money. If you read this post, don't do it... do not go to this bank - you will regret it, just like me.

There loan process was so tedious - coming back asking for more and more paperwork, I almost nixed the HELOC I was requesting... such a dumb mistake - all the signs were there that the bank would jerk me around, and the did. They jacked up they jacked up the interest rate - so I called to close it and they charged all kinds of fees.

Buyer beware, they probably make all there money on fees and not actually being a real bank lending money and getting repayment.

Flagstar Bank has online bank - and it is THE WORST system imaginable. I’ve been a Flagstar customer for over 10 years, but recently, they moved my online Debit card account to something called “Treasury Access” - which only allows me to see 1) the Date of a transaction, 2) the Amount and 3) your my Balance. WORTHLESS! Multiple trips and calls to try to find out where my money is going when it is being deducted, and their system cannot show that very necessary information. Now I’m left with either changing all of my Automatic bill payments, or wondering where my money is being siphoned off to. REALLY BAD!! No, HORRENDOUS.

So I used to be a member of Flagstar Bank Simply Checking. I got tired of all the fee's and hidden costs associated with the account. They even charge $2.00 to receive a bank statement in the mail. That's just absolutely ridiculous. This particular account didn't have any monthly fee, but it also didn't generate interest. The ATM fees were eating me alive as well. They don't refund them either. At the end of the day, there are much better banks out there for checking, and there's no reason to put up with unnecessary fees and charges any longer. I can't recommend Flagstar to anyone.

I have been banking with Flagstar for several years now. I have been more than happy with them. Their customer service is top notch. They know my whole family by name. The setup is different than most banks, because usually you will be invited to a small cubicle/office are and have a seat. Usually the banker asks if I would like a cup of coffee, but my kids like using the Keurig, so they are in charge of getting that for me. Our branch almost always has cookies sitting out. This just emphasizes that this is a bank that cares about it's members. When I have had a problem, even when it was my fault, it was taken care of quickly. If I do accidentally become overdrawn on the account, they send me a notice and let me know I have a few days to fix the problem. This is so much better than my previous credit union that started charging fees as soon as an overdraft was made, thereby increasing the chances of the fees and overdrafts snowballing before you even notice. (Obviously, you shouldn't count on something to cover your overdrafts good account keeping is important). We are very happy we switched over to Flagstar.

Flagstar Bank was always a very helpful bank to me and my family. I opened the account when I was younger (16) and had my mom co-sign it for me since I was legally a minor. The process was extremely easy and I got approved within minutes of signing up, all of the customer service were very nice people and helped with any and all the problems I had. I had one issue with an overdraft fee but I went in and explained the situation and they completely understood and reversed the charges. Great bank and I would recommend them to anyone that loves great customer service and great banking! Thanks Flagstar.

I have had a Flagstar checking account for several years. Sign-up was very easy and the staff was helpful and friendly. On the few occasions where there has been a problem, the staff is quick to help me find a solution. They are very courteous and willing to work with you to resolve any issues even if the cause is your own oversight. They have a wonderful referral program that often involves monetary compensation. I have referred a few people who are now happy Flagstar customers. They also offer online banking and their site is very easy to use. The site also has a program that analyzes your spending habits and gives recommendations on how you could save money. I am a fan of this feature and have used it to help create a budget for my family. Flagstar has been very reliable and I will continue to do business with them for many years!

I’ve been a member of Flagstar Bank for about 4 years. I’ve always been happy with them. They offer free checking, which is nice. My money is always available to me as soon as it’s direct deposited, so no waiting time. It was a little upsetting when they did away with the rewards, but I still use their debit card, which is very convenient. Whenever I have a problem, they are always willing to help resolve it in a timely manner.

I use the online banking system a few times a week and I’m very happy with its convenience. I do wish they would offer an easier way of logging in. They either have to send an email or a text. I only use the system from home, so it would be nice if I had an option to log in without that extra step. I understand why they do it though and I appreciate the security, so I don't let it bother me.

The only con I see about Flagstar is the waiting time for large withdrawals. The wait usually takes about half an hour, which I think is way too long.

Overall, I'd say I'm happy with this bank.

I am a huge fan of Flagstar banking. I used to be a member of a credit union before I joined Flagstar. I had to switch to Flagstar because I moved and didn't have access to my old credit union. After switching to a bank I realized all I was missing with the credit union. The personalized service is very good. They offer an overdraft protection that I really like. Also I have made mistakes before and by mistake incurred the overdraft fees and they are normally lenient in helping their customers out. In summary I highly recommend Flagstar for their personalized service and great features.
