I must have paid hundreds of dollars in fees to this crooked, greedy bank. They charge fees on top of fees so you can never get sqaured up and close your account. They prey on people who don't have a lot of money.
Hancock Bank was once a small- town, friendly bank. Since the merger with Whitney bank, it is now just another ugly, big corporate bank - Fees, gotcha gimmicks, underhanded surprises... maximizing profits for shareholders rather than taking care of customers. All my money is moving to Navy Federal Credit Union - a financial institution with ethics.
Hancock Whitney bank does not care about it’s customers. The bank uses creative accounting measures to justify charging multiple fees. I’m tired of giving away my money. I work too hard for it. I’m going back to my old bank. At least they cared.
Opened a new checking account still waiting for my debit card 2 weeks . It cost me 50 dollars to open the account with approved credit to make it free also you half to hold a minimum daily balance and have their banking app but to set that up you need your bank card, that has yet to come going on 2 weeks , and then you half to wait on temp pin for the card, so whats up???? Is it even comming so i guess my account is not free in the end. DOG SHIT BANK TAKING MY MONEY OUT AND CLOSING THE ACCOUNT!!!!
WORST BANK EVER IN EVERY WAY. The processing, the fees, the lies. Don’t worry about opting out of overdraft protection bc it is not honored anyway. Cash put in your account is like putting a check in your account. Sometime it takes 1 day and others up to 2 days, but any debits come out right away which could cause overdraft fees. CHOOSE ANOTHER BANK IS THE BEST ADIVE I CAN GIVE TO ANYONE.
Took three weeks for my debit card to arrive. When it came, MY LAST NAME WAS SPELLED WRONG. I called immediately, they couldn't figure out how that happened and told me they were ordering another one. I called three days ago (a month maybe more after they claimed they were ordering it). The woman on the phone said the debit card was busy but she would get with them, find out where my card is, and call be back by the end of the day. She didn't. I called them AGAIN today and was informed that THEY HAVE NO RECORD OF MY CARD EVEN BEING ORDERED. I'll be cancelling my account immediately. Please don't waste your time with them.
I opened a checking account merely to have a local bank to do future business with, based on the merit that my employer did business with Hancock Bank. Long story short, they initially never ordered my debit card, and listed my account at an address that I had not lived at for 15 years. I attempted to close the account, but another branch manager asked for a chance to make up for the mistakes made, update my information, and order another debit card. 2 weeks later, still no debit card. I needed to withdraw funds one Saturday night and the temp ATM card had been canceled leaving me with no access to my cash until the following Monday. There is no 24Hr customer service line. I have since withdrew all my cash, and canceled my direct deposit, still waiting for that to finalize. They charge a fee for early closing, but the manager said she would waive all fees based on my experience. I mean after all, who charges a fee for cancelling because they couldnt get it together in the 1st place?!?! Good luck collecting it if she didnt offer to waive it! Needless to say, I cant reccomend doing business with Hancock Whitney Bank.
There are only 175 Whitney Bank locations, and they are only in 5 states - most of which are in Louisiana. Meaning, if you have a personal checking account through Whitney Bank, and you travel pretty much anywhere outside of the state of Louisiana, be prepared for additional hidden ATM fees. Also, be warned about their “Overdraft Consideration” policy. From my experience, means that they’ll allow any automated transactions to be charged to your negative account, and they’ll slap you with a $36 OD fee for each of them. Additionally, they’ll slap another $36 Sustained OD fee for every 9 days that your account is in the negative, when CAN and DOES snowball on you. I opened a personal checking account with Whitney Bank just before moving out of state, and have had it for only 7 months. In that short amount of time, my account has accrued a whopping $800+ In hidden fees and overdraft charges. Their customer service is not only unhelpful, but also at times flat-out rude. I DO NOT recommend this bank to anyone.
This bank had a new account $400 promotion on their website but I called to check on the amount that was deposited in my account and I was told that the code that I was sent was for a different promotion. I signed up on the website by clicking the $400 promotion which was the only one on the website at the time. The customer service rep told me that the $400 promotion was not offered at the time. Then why was it on the website? They would not give me the additional $100 that was offered through the promotion that was listed online. I am very dissatisfied. It is not my problem that the promotion that was listed online and the code they sent me did not match. I held up my end of the bargain by opening my account by the expiration date of the promotion as well as all of the other requirements to get the bonus, but the bank decided to rip me off. I will be closing my account.
This is an awful bank. Maybe its service to US based customers is at best average, but if you are resident overseas they are DREADFUL!! The reason for awarding two stars is because the staff in the local branch are delightful and helpful, otherwise it would be no stars if that were possible. Twenty years ago we became customers of a small bank and all was well for many years. Then HW took it over. The list of 'difficulties' is far too long to record here, but the worst was that our account was interfered with and our Userid changed - but not by us. HW denied the change, were unprepared to tell us,,or did not have the necessary audit trail, to work out who had changed it and when.. I'm sure there are US banks who give good customer service and take care of their customers' accounts but Hancock Whitney is not one of them. Keep well away.
