I became a member of the Jackson VA Federal Credit Union (now Magnolia Federal Credit Union) over 20 years ago. I have sung their praises over the last two decades to anyone moving their bank account, opening a new one, or looking for a loan. Twenty years I ago I had every confidence in the world in this credit union. As it stands today, I not only would NEVER recommend this credit union again, but advise anyone I consider even a friendly acquaintance to close their account and find somewhere where your membership and business is appreciated. The employees at both the Flowood location and the main branch are no longer friendly or helpful as in years past. I think the business has gotten too large and money-hungry to provide the amazing service they used to have.
Little by little the policies have changed and good employees who actually cared about their members have drifted out the door. I have fought to keep my business with MFCU - even as they did away with shared branch banking and created policy after policy that makes it near-impossible to do business with them from Copiah county (one of the counties they are SAID to serve. Most recently I came to them trying to move more money into my MFCU account and needing assistance in the transfer. After speaking with five different people including a branch manager and a member service manager I was FINALLY offered a semi-solution. However, it couldn't be offered without the manager repeating "I don't HAVE to do this" and "this is a ONE TIME courtesy IF I do." Thanks. Great. I have been a member for over twenty years, sung your praises, fought to keep my business with you, and I was repeatedly denied any help until I absolutely became distressed at the situation, and you want to speak to me like I am a piece of trash.
I will beg no one to allow me to do business with them. My deposits, future loans, and whatever other financial business I may have will be with a credit union or bank that appreciates their long-time customers.
