PSECU is awesome! General banking is great. Credit Card lending is great. I’ve never had a better banking experience in the 25 years I’ve had a bank account. Everyone I’ve ever spoke with has been friendly, knowledgeable and professional. I can’t recommend them enough!
I initially had no problem with PSECU. That was until I found out SEVEN MONTHS (7!!!) after the fact that after a check was mobile deposited into my account, it was also physically deposited somewhere else. All PSECU could tell me was that it was my boyfriend's check and it was put into a Bank of America account. Neither of us have a Bank of America account. This incident overdrew my account and NO research was done. I was not contacted in regards to this issue prior to the overdraft. There was no investigation and I wasn't even given the option to investigate. Needless to say, I took my business elsewhere - to a bank that has mobile deposit PROTECTION and a system set up to make sure things like that don't happen to their customers.…show more
My experience as a PSECU customer has been excellent. At first I was somewhat skeptical of the fact that the closest branch was in Harrisburg, roughly 200 miles away. But the online banking is very easy to use and has all of the features I need to manage my daily finances. I especially like the app. It allows me to freely move money between my accounts, and the mobile deposit feature is extremely convenient. I would definitely recommend PSECU to anyone who is considering opening an account.…show more
I've been a customer of PSECU for about 6 years now after switching over from a traditional bank.
I was referred by a friend who swore up and down that PSECU was great so I figured why not? I tried it and haven't looked back since. Here's my lists of pros and cons:
Pro: Mobile deposit, this was one of the huge draws that brought me to PSECU, I can deposit a check any time and anywhere with my phone. It's great and I've never had any problems with it (except for one time when my wife signed a check over to me to deposit into my account, apparently you can't do that with mobile check deposit, this is my only negative experience as the customer service rep was kind of rude with me when I called and asked why *note, people have signed checks over to me for years and this is the first time it happened...must be a new policy as of November of 2014.)
Pro: Great customer service. I've only had one problem, ever and it was with an abnormally snippy rep, but aside from that it's all good. There is NO HIDDEN FEES/COSTS/JUNK like ridiculous fees for "large deposits" or "transfer fees" to transfer money from savings into checking.
Pro: Great rates on consolidation loans (3% on credit card transfers for almost 2 years!) and no atm fees! No fees to deposit foreign checks either!
Pro: Online system is GREAT and very user friendly.
Con: If you want to talk to anyone you HAVE to call they have no "branches" which doesn't bother me any.
Overall if you're a "modern" customer, they're great. If you were an old topper who isn't too into technology, this wouldn't be your bank, but I'd still invite you to try and I think you'd love it.…show more
I have had an account with PSECU for more than five years now. I opened it with my daughter in college as a quick way to get money to her. PSECU had absolutely the best features for what we needed at the time My daughter is out of college now and PSECU gave us the best rates on a car loan so we could get her on her feet now that she is working. I have dropped off my daughter’s account and I no longer need to maintain my account for its original purpose, but I love the service I get from PSECU. I thought I would hate using an online bank but I realized that I really need to go into a bank physically. I just have not closed the account and I do not think I want. The PSECU people are friendly and always so helpful.…show more
I've had an account with PSECU ever since I attended college at Bloomsburg University of Pa. Their customer service representatives are friendly and very helpful. One time I forgot my account number and they were very helpful with helping me to obtain the information so I could use the online banking. It was also really easy to make a deposit at their atms or in person at any one of their several branch locations. I have never incurred any additional fees either.I would recommend this credit union to anyone and have done so.…show more
PSECU is a very good credit union. I found them while attending Mansfield University of Pennsylvania, as they have an office on campus. They offered a promotional fifty dollars to any student who opened a checking account with them, so I did. After a few days, the fifty dollars showed up in my account. They sent me a debit card, along with checks. Overall, PSECU is a very friendly and reliable credit union, and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a credit union.…show more
I had an account with this bank while I was in college and a student group I was an officer in also had a group account and for both accounts I always received excellent service. The application was simple, there were no hidden fees (really no feed), and they always dealt with me fairly and promptly. I also really appreciated the full service 24 hour ATM near my apartment, which allowed me to deposit checks and do most other banking quickly and easily whenever I needed it.…show more
I was able eligible to get an account with PSECU because I was a student at Harrisburg Area Community College in Lancaster, PA. This was wonderful because I wanted an account with a credit union. I was able to apply online. This process was fairly simple and when I did need help a customer service representative got back to me quickly. The only downfall in Lancaster is that there is only one actual branch and that is at Millersville University which is somewhat out of the way for me. This makes it inconvenient to do some of my banking but I like the credit union so much I don't mind.…show more
I've been banking with PSECU for many years now. I really like that they send out important information regarding financial legislation that is going on that I wouldn't know about otherwise. Their website is really good, clear and concise and I think they explain things really well, in terms that the everyday person can understand. I would like to see more branches, but I understand why they are moving away from physical locations.
