I've had a checking & savings account with PNC for over 10 years with minimal problems. I budget my money very well so I’ve never had an issue with overdraft fees or anything. The issues I’ve had are few and far between, but were very frustrating at that moment. Overall, they’re a pretty good bank and it’s not worth the hassle of switching banks as I’m sure the all have issues from time to time. I just wish they’d open a branch in the Hudson Valley area of NY so that I have a brand nearby should these issues arise again… My main issue is with the mobile app. Unfortunately, my current employer doesn’t have direct deposit so I get a paper check every week, and the closest PNC location is at least an hour from me, so I use the mobile deposit every week. There were 3 weeks in a row this year where the mobile deposit didn’t work at all on Friday evening, which is a pretty inconvenient time for it to go down when most people get paid at the end of the week. This has happened sporadically before, but for almost a month straight, it really made me consider looking for a different bank. Most of the time there are no issues though, so I hope it stays that way. Another small issue I had recently is with the customer service not being properly trained and giving incorrect information. A check that I deposited via mobile deposit into my account bounced (insufficient funds on the end of the person who wrote the check). Not a big deal as I had funds to cover the loss. Customer service told me I had to wait 48 hours and then I could deposit it again via mobile (or come into a branch location, but I’d have to travel an hour plus). I didn’t see how it could deposit the check again because that check number was already counted as a deposit and figured it would reject it as already deposited. But, I waited 2 days per her advice, tried again, and (no surprise) it said I couldn’t because the check had already been deposited. I called customer service again, and was told “I’m not sure why she told you that, but that’s incorrect.” I could have gotten the replacement check from the issuer and had my money 2 days sooner had the first girl knew what she was talking about.
Trying to use the app from my phone has many many glitches and constant problems. I have my username and password saved and still it tells me it's wrong. This happens frequently and causes me to wait until I can contact someone or reset things from my computer. I can't tell you how frustrating it is. This app completely sucks.
I wanted seamless banking and all I'm getting is headaches, I've never over drafted my account there is also money in that account always its a business account and I'm not doing to bad for myself . I was promised my deposits would never be put on hold and guess what that was a lie! IM SWITCHING BANKS ONCE AGAIN !
Terrible Customer service regarding overdraft fees! I have not had an overdraft fee for 8 months. By a miscalculation, I woke up to 4 overdraft fees of $36 each. Called the bank and they said we tried to refund them but "the system" wont refund them. I asked what the reason was the system gave and she said it has to be 12 months between overdrafts to have it refunded. One of my debit card transactions was $2.12 and I was charged $36 for that. I have been a customer for 19 years. All of my family have PNC accounts because I put in a good word for PNC to them over the years. This is ridiculous!!!!! do not go with pnc for your banking. Go to a bank that doesn't have an overdraft fee. Greedy!!!! Greedy! praying on peoples mistakes!
I have been using PNC's debit card for over 5 years and I never met problems on either purchases and deposits. My parents also wired money from China to the U.S. pretty often. The money usually gets showed up in my account within 24 hours. They also provided some specials for college students on using Virtual Wallet. Other than checking account, you get 2 other accounts for free: savings and growth. I definitely recommend using PNC's services if you are trying to open a checking account as a student.
I've been with PNC for over 20 years.i was never ever charged a fee for not having a minimum balance.I had the option years ago to have 25.00 transferred from my checking to my savings every month to avoid fees instead of having the min balance..Somewhere along the line, that changed.I noticed that today when there was a 15.00 fee on my checking account. When i called about it,the agent said that i was in their "performance" checking account that required over $1000.00 balance.Really? When did i agree to that? Never! I get all kinds of emails from them but never anything about this .My association with PNC is now over. Ive never had a problem with them until now. They were always very nice on the phone if i had a question. If i lost my atm card, they never gave me a hassle about getting a new one.The down side of this is all my direct deposits. They take weeks to change evrything over but it will be done cause im done with this bank!
Slow to load. ALWAYS errors out. It is a piece of crap. I keep it because this bank account I opened in D.C. only has 2 branches in Norfolk and no place else to make deposits. Taking pictures of my check is a nightmare too. Usually takes at least 30 minutes of entering the same stuff over and over to get it done. I plan on switching to a bank with more branches. PNC in Norfolk VA and this app both suck. Anybody looking for a bank in Norfolk, avoid PNC. You can do better and I will too.
Pnc Bank is a joke. Customer service is horrible. I am changing banks and will tell everyone I know not to deal with them. I had a dispute that somehow closed without my consent and they tried to say I closed it. then tried to reopen it and the lady was giving me a hardtime about it.
Hey my names shara lively. I've been banking with PNC for a couple years now, up until now my experience has been good. I was charged an overdraft fee but didn't receive a notification until the next morning at 3am, the same day my paycheck was deposited into my account. I was told by the bank account manager that I would not get a refund for the overdraft fee because it is my responsibility to make sure I don't go into overdraft. Which is right but I didn't receive a notification until it was to late, and I check my account twice that day and my account never went until negative status, so I couldn't correct this issue to not receive the overdraft fee. I am very dissatisfied with the customer service I received as a loyal customer of PNC.
Wish I could give it zero stars. Apparently, whenever you use a new transfer service the first time, they block the transfer. Once when I was in California and in desperate need of money in another bank account, I tried to use their interbank transfer. They just blocked my transaction. I called them 3-4 times to remove the block. They kept telling me that I have to go to a branch to verify myself. I tried hard to drill into those dunderheads that there are no PNC branches on the west coast. I pleaded with them to remove the blockade as I needed money urgently. But, they were totally unsympathetic and rude. This was not the only time I had such an experience. Sometime later, when I wanted to transfer money to my friend using their zelle app, they blocked me again. If you want your money to be available to you based on your needs, and not on their whims, DON'T open an account with them.
