They have stretched themselves financially too thin to cope with Covid-19 crisis. After a week of trying to pull our money out of Golden 1, and at least 5 hours a day of sitting on hold with customer service, I was hung up on without anyone ever answering. I took screenshots and wish I could upload here but there isn't a place to do so. We opened accounts elsewhere and will never have a decent word to say about Golden 1. Laurie Forst in customer service was late on returning emails and communicating in a timely manner. Laurie Forst single handedly forfeited my desire to stay a member at Golden 1 (after 10 years) through her unbelievably inappropriate, slimy and deceitful manner and business practices.

Golden 1 CU doesn't work in the 21st century. They don't allow you to link your checking account with Venmo or PayPal. They use an archaic popmoney and their external transfer process, when it works, takes days to transfer money. Additionally, they limit you to two savings accounts. I will never understand why I can't have more accounts if I have money for them. I like to save for different purposes in different accounts. Between their ridiculous savings account limit and 19th century practices, go somewhere else.

I went to my Golden one Branch here in Fresno on Shaw Ave. to verify correct e check procedures in advance. I'm disabled and the Meds I need are $1280.00 in this USA,. in Canada The same Meds are $149.00 including shipping. Golden One told me to give them my account no and my routing no. They bounced my check for $149.00 when I had $5500.00 in savings and $2000.00 in checking because they should have given me a draft no. not an account no. There error defamed my character with the Canadian co. and Wasted another 2 hours of my time straightening out there mess. Again they refused to reinburse me for lost time. They say they care about there members, this is bullshit. they care not for there members and even less for there disabled members. DO NOR USE GOLDEN ONE THEY WILL LIE TO YOU AND CHEAT YOU!

We opened an account hoping joining a credit union would be better than our banks. It wasn't for us and then tried to close the account. First off, the spelling of my name was wrong and was unable to change it without opening a new account. Then a deposit of 200$ check didn't clear for 2 weeks. The online system is clunky, as is the app and I got locked out almost every time despite having my password saved. (you have to call in and wait on the phone during business hours to unlock your online access). After deciding to close, It took 2 months of phone calls to close it. Thankfully, I pulled out all but a few dollars but am still waiting for the check. Calling customer service means waiting on the phone, taking time off of my work day because they are not 24/7. I kept getting told that one little thing was pending and it would close in a few days....Not so. I finally escalated the case after 7 phone calls but have yet to see the final closure. Absolutely terrible experience.

I deposited a fairly large check {over $5k} here on a couple of occasions from a trusted 401K acct. I gave them verification paper work and everything they needed to verify it was NOT a counterfeit check but they held the check on BOTH occasions for the FULL 7 biz days even though, on both occasions, they received the funds from my 401K acct the day after the deposit. I have been a cust since 2007 but I am still treated like a potential risk cust off the street. Terrible cust service here.You cant even get the phone # of a specific branch all calls are to the corporate HQ. My wife changed our regular bank to my work credit union, wow what a difference. Steer clear of these guys.

Been w/ Golden1 since college years n had my 1st Student Credit Card w/ them...Everythin was ok, nothin bad 2 say about them except the atm charges @ other locations...They took my whole $$$ i had left in the bank, cuz i gues their computer never deducted it out last month...Instead of notifying me 1st, they took it out n my acct went negative...Acct specialist acts like its my fault n would not do payment arrangement or cover the over-charge fees...So i gues, i have 2 cancel this bs Golden1...Good lucc w/ them, any bank can treat u nice or like family...Cuz they taking ur $$$

This bank deposited my check from my other bank and put it in hold for 9 days even after it cleared my other account My bank even faxed them a copy saying the funds had already cleared there bank with the BOFD # !! so basically they tell me the money just vanishes until they say it's available to use such bullshit seems pretty shady so if you make any deposits by check hold your hand on your ass and sit back and wait for them to decide when you can use your own money Talked to 5 reps in 1 day and everyone was inconsistent in there excuses 5 out of 5 doesn't seem like they hire very competent people

I recently became a member of Golden One Credit Union and I could not be happier.The products they offer are great. I like the fact that I can do mobile deposits through my Android phone just as easy as going to the ATM. I live out in the foothills and I cannot express how much this service simplifies my life. No more getting in the car and driving 20 miles to make a simple deposit. The customer service staff is very helpful. They take the time to make sure your needs are met and are personable. This is my first time belonging to a credit union and I am glad I chose Golden One.

I have been banking with the Golden 1 Credit Union for over 30 years. I am a big fan of their checking accounts, because they provide free checking with automatic deposit. They don't nickel-and-dime you with fees. You can receive a paper statement or an online statement monthly. Their online banking is easy to use and I've never experienced a problem with it. I use it frequently to check my balances, see if checks have cleared, make transfers, etc. I have also used Golden 1 over the years for loans - personal, auto and home (mortgage) loans, and have been pleased every time. When we purchased our first home, they approved us for a mortgage and were easy to work with. However, when we wanted to refinance a few years ago, we were looking for a 20-year mortgage and they didn't offer one, so we opted to go with a different company. Another benefit to being a member is that they offer discounts to various places. Their Disneyland tickets are usually about $20 cheaper than the box office price, so it's a good deal.
The only negatives that I have with Golden 1 are that 1) they don't usually have a lot of tellers working at any one time. You would think that at busy times of the month/day they would have extra tellers working, but nope. I try to use the ATMs or bank online as much as possible to avoid having to stand in line. Also 2) when I tried opening minor accounts for my two teenage sons, we had problems trying to access their accounts at home on the computer, and it took several phone calls and return trips to the branch to get them working. Their customer service reps are polite, though, and do work hard to help you. Overall, I give them 4 1/2 stars, and would recommend them to anyone living in California.
