They only make $200 available upon deposit at the ATM, and it takes an insane amount of time for checks to clear. I made a deposit last Thursday, it is now 7:15 on Tuesday, and I'm STILL waiting for my funds to become available. I'm fed up with the 15 minute waits on hold with customer service, and 4+ day waiting periods for checks to clear. I'll be closing my account next week.
Umpqua Bank does NOT manage their own ATMs. Something went wrong with your deposit? People at the branch have zero power to fix it. You'll just have to wait until the third party company gets around to mailing your check back to you (which could be weeks by the way, they apparently have not heard of standard 2 day mail). Planning to use that money to buy Christmas presents? Sucks to be you. The only answer you'll get out of the bank is "we don't manage the ATMs so we don't have access and we can't help you"…show more
I moved into a new neighborhood with an Umpqua bank and decided to transfer to this bank. I moved my checking and savings account. So far, I am unimpressed. Even though I like having a local bank, I dislike the fees associated with my checking account. I spoke with a customer service agent about my concerns, and found out that even though there is a monthly fee just for having the account, my deposits and checks up to a certain amount are free each month. She said there was nothing to waive the monthly service fees which was disappointing. The customer service agency was very helpful and personable which is a nice change from my last bank, but I just wish the policies of this bank were different.…show more
I have been a customer of Umpqua Bank (Formerly Sterling Savings Bank and then just Sterling Bank) for many, many years. It has always had a small town bank feel with very friendly customer service and, in my opinion, great banking products available to their customers! Keep up the good work!
I had been a customer for many years of Sterling Savings bank when they were bought out by Umpqua. I was really nervous that all kinds of changes and new fees would be arriving soon after the change. I was pleasantly surprised when I found out that there would be no dramatic changes, and not crazy fee. They even kept the entire staff of my branch, who I have dealt with many times, and was happy not to have to learn a bunch of new faces. Or, it could have even been worse, they could have closed my branch. All and all its almost like my original bank never went away.…show more
I moved to Portland and had to get a new bank account and heard great things about Umpqua. I have had this account for one month now and it is honestly the best bank I have yet to be a part of. The only issue I have come across is that it took me quite awhile to get my debit card since they are such a small bank that they cant make them for you at the store. So in turn, I was without a debit card for ten days which proved to be quite difficult. Once I got the card however, it was smooth sailing.…show more
I would give this bank higher marks, but due to some things..... First off, I got this checking account which I guess was growth to begin with. After 6 months of being on the growth checking plan, the bank started charging me 5 dollars per month for not having over 500 in the balance. I was upset, so I went in and had them change it to this free eMerge account. The strange thing was, when opening the account, I strictly said I wanted free and no minimum balance for the account. Nothing was done, and I ended up paying a few months of this 5 dollar credit. Also, they charge you 2.50 for using an ATM, plus the fee the ATM charges, unless using an ATM at the bank. I would say it does the job of keeping money in an account, but other than that, I would most likely suggest shopping around.…show more
I have been a customer with Umpqua bank for about 5 years. I got a joint account with my mother so I could help her with paying bills and shopping. The tellers always have a smile on their face and never give me a hard time when I can't remember my account number. I don't use it often enough to have it memorized. They really took their time when my aging mother was having a hard time with some paper work. They are very patient. I love the bank because it has that small town feel to it. They always seem to recognize my face and especially my daughter. They just love her. I like that they have online banking too. Makes it very easy for my mom to check her balance. I just opened a new location for my business, and decided to go with Umpqua to handle the day to day financial stuff of the store. From the moment I stepped in I knew this was the place to go. I was greeted by multiple people, and setting up the account was super easy. There was no problems adding in my credit card machine for merchant processing, nor did they blink when I connected all of my online services to my account! There's only a week before we open, and my time is super short. I'm just glad that Umpqua was there to handle my banking needs, so I can concentrate on getting the doors open!
