I've always had good experiences with Vermont Federal Credit Union. The tellers are all very helpful and seem to go out of their way to help. I'v never had any large issues in my dealings with them so I can't really give any negative feedback. Their online platform works great and they have enough different products to take care of all my needs. They've been able to satisfy all of the needs I required from a bank or credit union. My only issue with them is that they only have locations in Vermont so when I moved for a while I needed to find a different bank and thats when my problems started.…show more
I usually use my online only checking account, but when I moved to a new location I needed a local branch I could visit for certain banking needs. I didn't want to go the big banking route with their high hidden fees and extra costs and what not. So I checked out Vermont Federal Credit Union. I haven't had any problems with them what so ever. The employees and other staff have always been very friendly and treated me like a real person instead of just another account. No hidden fees, and they are straight forward with their policies so there's nothing to surprise you later. Overall a great credit union.…show more
I've had a checking account with VTFCU for over 20 years. Overall, I am happy with my credit union. In-person and phone service is always friendly and first-rate. As another reviewer mentioned, there are not a lot of branches but the credit union experience is worth that small inconvenience.
A few years ago I would have given my credit union 5 stars, but I'm only giving it 4 for the following reasons. Fees have gone up drastically in the past year or two while rates have become less competitive. Foreign currency exchange is ridiculously expensive, forcing me to use another bank for that service.…show more
I'm a big fan of banking with VFCU. They don't have loads of locations, but they are pretty central to me, the tellers are always friendly, and everything about this bank is uncomplicated. I applied for a checking account and the process was really simple, not at all invasive feeling. I'm always greeted kindly, rarely have to wait long - even when it's busy, and the branches I've been to (Milton and Burlington) have always been clean and well staffed. I don't have a lot of experience with various types of accounts, but I have a joint checking with my husband, and I do a lot of online banking. It's not a perfect online banking site, but it works well enough for me. I'd recommend them because I really like banking with a smaller bank that is local to me.…show more
I've been using Vermont Federal Credit Union for about 8 months now. I signed up when I started doing some saving and I liked the rates they were offering. Having a credit union has let me keep my money in a place that is not as easily accessible as my primary bank, and that has let me save better and more frequently. I also like their option for personal loans should I need one, but I haven't yet. Their customer service has been top notch both over the phone and in person. The waits have been short, allowing me to get in and get out quickly. It is an excellent credit union that I would recommend to anyone.…show more
