Zions Bank Checking Accounts

I have a checking account with Zions bank and for a local bank I am quite pleased. It has always been nice to have the online mobile banking system that I can keep easy track of my purchases and deposits. Zion bank has very nice customer service that has always helped me with my questions and would go out of their way to help my problems. The no fee for my student account is also a very nice feature.

Zions bank has been okay. The biggest problem that I have had with zions bank is that they charge you a fee every month if you don't have a certain amount in your checking account. They used to charge 35 bucks for overdraft if you didn't have the money and they would take the fee out, anyway. That has changed, however. It would be nice to not be penalized for being broke.

The people working for Zions Bank are very professional. They have always been accommodating to my needs and never ceased to amaze me with their customer service. Every time I've had to call or ask about anything they have always been very knowledgeable about their services and products. They are typically open about as average as any other bank or credit union, but they do have tellers in the windows on Saturdays, which is really convenient if you work 9 to 5, 5 days a week. My only issues were with my checking account limits as far as how many checks I could write a month, etc, which I really shouldn't talk about here. The customer service team did clear an overdraft fee for me that happened twice, which was very helpful.

Zions Bank Is fairly good. I’ve had a checking and savings account there for 6 years. They are always nice and helpful. They will often reverse charges for over drafting or other fees just because you go in and ask them to. I had my debit card numbers stolen last month. The thief spent nearly $400 in one day and the Zions fraud department was great. They got my money back to me although it took three or four days to go through. I only have two complaints. First of all, the Draper, UT doesn’t have the ATMs which allow you to deposit cash or checks like some other banks do. I don’t know if other Zions locations have them, though, because I’ve never really looked into it. I also dislike that there aren’t any Zions Banks anywhere but Utah. It’s super inconvenient when traveling because although you can take money out, you can’t put any in. Overall, they are great and the employees are kind and knowledgeable.

My wife has been a customer of Zions Bank for several years now and she has no complaints. However she holds no praise for the institution either. Zions Bank has no real competitive banking policies and the employees lack basic knowledge about what services are offered by their employer. The one big upside to Zions Bank, especially if you live on the West Coast, is that there are numerous branch and ATM locations scattered throughout the region. I’m also pretty sure that if you use another ATM (i.e, one from another bank) Zions Bank will reimburse you the withdrawal fee. Overall I would consider Zions Bank a very average financial institution.

My husband and I have been with Zions Bank for over 7 years now. At first we had just our personal accounts with the bank, but we soon also opened our business accounts. The staff has always been helpful, accommodating, and knowledgeable. We have not been charged many unnecessary fees. The operation of the bank seems to be more personable than that of larger banking institutions. I have been very happy with the service I have received thus far. If you live in the State of Utah, Zions Bank is a great option. Zions has several branches throughout the State that make our lives convenient.

I have had Gold Checking and Savings accounts with Zions Bank since 2000. I use Zions because I live in Utah and they have lots of convenient branches and excellent customer service. I have used Wells Fargo and First Security when I have lived in Utah and Zions’ branches are much friendlier.

I got a small loan with Zions when I was a college student and they treated me well and the initiation fee was not too high. However, for anything large - like a mortgage or car loan - I always go somewhere else because I can always find a better rate.

The interest rates they give on their checking/savings accounts are also very small. I have “Gold” accounts and only get half a percentage point. I keep my long term savings with other banks. However, for day-to-day banking they are a nice bank to use.

They are also nice about problem resolution. I once had a deposit bounce and they reversed the bounced deposit charges when I went in to complain – I did not have to fight too hard.

Zions is a nice bank to use as a general checking account bank, especially if you live in Utah.

Zions bank is an average bank with average interest rates and average customer service. There is really nothing special about Zions bank except for the fact that there are many, many locations across the state of Utah. One good thing about banking with Zions is there really is no such thing as a hidden fee, surcharge, or surprise ding on your statement at the end of the month. The interest rates on their checking accounts are decent, but there seems to be many catches such as minimum balances, minimum withdrawals, and other such features that are nevertheless common to most banks. Their customer service is okay, and in my experience most people involved were polite, but did not seem too knowledgeable about the products Zions offered. If you're looking for a good, stable bank with ok policies, then go with Zions.

I have had several accounts with Zions over the years and I do have to say that the customer support is by far one of the best. They even go the extra mile to help customers that are experiencing hardships. One time they helped me with overdraft fees when most banks would just say "Oh Well" I do really like this bank and wished only they would be a national bank to make access easier when I am on the road.

The only downside I can come up with is the price of the fees. I have noticed that when I use an ATM that is out of network the fee is quite large. I would highly recommend any one who is looking for a bank in the Utah area to consider them.
