I recently got a credit card through compass because it offered a 0% interest rate for 12 months and had a large purchase to make. When I went to use the card for the first time on this high, it would not go through. It kept saying chip error etc. Remembering that the promotion also offered a 0% transfer fee, I decided to use my Chase credit card to complete the transaction (which had zero problems letting me complete the transaction). I then called Compass to ask if there was a problem with my card because for some reason it would not going through. They informed me that even though I had a $15,000 credit limit, I was not able to use more than $5000 a day. When I explained to them this made zero sense, and prevented me from using my card for the reason I acquired it for, their answer was simply, "this was done to protect you". The next day I went to transfer my purchase onto this card, and was told i would be charged a 4% fee for transferring the balance. I got the complete run around when speaking to customer service about this, again with excuses how this was not their fault. So I decided to go work with my local Compass bank manager, where I have been an account holder with high balances for 16 years. After again explaining my situation, they "escalated" it to a district level where their review remained the same, this was not their fault. Unbelievable how poorly and short sighted they treat their current customer base. I will be closing down all of my accounts with them due to this and going to Chase.… show more
I have been receiving credit card approval invitations for the last year or so. When I finally applied, it declined me. I called the 1-877-737-7727 number and reference # it gave me and even though the lady on the other side sounded nice, she sounded very unhelpful. It almost just seems she was reading off a script and didn't want to assist me, as all she kept on saying was "I don't know I'd be able to assist you" "wait for the letter", when she finally pulled it my information, she said, it was due to credit history. So why are they sending "Pre-approved" invitations, making a person apply and get hit with credit check, if they're going to deny you!!! False advertisement!! I told this lady to stop sending me their mail and her response was it can take up to 90 days!! Horrible company!!… show more
I never write reviews but i feel the need to here. Got the credit card in December with a $2,800.00 limit. Made some small purchases and then went in and downloaded the app to set up payments. Tried 3 different times to figure it out and couldn't. Got distracted with moving and then realized my payment was a day late. I called customer service to make the payment and get help setting up payment thru the app. I finally got someone to help me set it up and my account was verified by them making 2 small deposits to and then removing from my bank account. Made Marches payment online with no issues. Went in on March 29th to make April's payment. Everything went fine and got a confirmation number, then checked my account april 9th and the payment i had made on the 29th was reversed and i was charged a fee. Called to find out why and they said my bank returned it (there was no reason for that) the girl verified the account number for my bank and there was a number missing even though my end on the app showed the proper number. She said they would need to investigate further and call me back. Now 2 days later they are calling to collect my missed payment that i tried to make. I explain all this again to the agent today and still have no answer. Made the returned payment on the phone with the agent but they still cannot tell me why the account number was different. While i was on the phone with them my account magically moved from a source account to a destination account. They also told me there was no record of the call 2 days ago. I have never had so many problems trying to pay money. Of course the reversal charge was not waived either. I am closing this card and paying off the balance. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time with this company because they will lie and cheat you out of your money.… show more
These people are either 1. total thieves, or 2. complete idiots. Long story short, they sent me a pre-qualification letter, which I get all the time. I called them to see what my starting credit limit was. In truth, there was no starting credit limit and I had not been pre-approved for a card. Instead, they wanted me to send them money to open up a secured credit card. Now, why in the world I would do this, with a 720 credit rating, over $40K in credit already, and a 26% credit utilization ratio, I do not know. Neither do they. When I asked what they were doing, they just stammered and had no information. These people should be put out of business. These fraudulent bait and switch pre-qualification letters amount to nothing more than harassment. I'm waiting for a supervisor to call me back and I may file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, depending upon what s/he says. I am not hopeful.… show more
I concur with everyone else and what they are saying below-I have never in my life dealt with such poor customer service and short sightedness in my life. I am currently researching banks to transfer all of my accounts too because of the experience I have had since opening a credit card with them.
Worst customer service. First agent hung up on me presumably because I was angry that he couldn’t seem to understand my problem. The second person was better but the problem was not solved and her manner was dismissive and she was ultimately ineffective. I am cancelling this card as soon as possible.
Worst credit card company I have dealt with. If I wasn’t already locked into a promotional transfer balance, I would close the account immediately. Customer service is absolutely horrible, rude and they disconnected me last time I called. They upgraded their reward program, which caused the site to be down several days, telephone menu was messed up and I had to call multiple times to talk to someone about the account, and I have had to call several times to fix missing points from a promotion they offered. I have spent way too much time dealing with them, it’s not worth it.… show more
- 5 Stars. Cancelled my account because of 1 late payment 4 days late. I am currently paying off the $500 balance. APP is the worst I've seen. Customer Service is beyond poor! Nobody speaks proper English! Stay clear of BBVA compass. You've been warned!
I would give this financial institution zero stars if that were possible. I was issued a new credit card through BBVA. I used it once for a $20 purchase and my information was stolen and used to create a PayPal account out of California (I live in Colorado). I actually think the information was probably stolen from BBVA itself because my only purchase was from an optics store that I've used for years without issue. Anyway, the person bought a lot of shoes and skateboard equipment through PayPal. I noticed a few days later and reported my card stolen. For some reason though BBVA will not let you report fraudulent activity at the same time as freezing/canceling your card. You have to wait until you receive your new card, trapping you into continue banking with them. It has been over four months and I am still waiting for BBVA to refund my card for the unauthorized transactions so that I can close my account. Every representative I have talked to has been vague, unhelpful, and seemingly uneducated in their job. Please do not trust these people with your credit or your money. There are so many better banking options out there. You don't need the aggravation! I promise you.… show more
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Ask a question about BBVA Compass Credit Cards
Certain credit bureaus track corporate credit history and provide business credit scores. A business credit card such as the BBVA Compass Business Secured Card would therefore help build your company's credit standing. However, it's important to note that financial institutions consider a small business owner's personal credit standing to be far more important than that of his or her company and typically report business credit card account information to a cardholder's personal credit reports as well as to those of his or her business. Banks simply consider a small business owner's personal and company finances to be intertwined, especially since business owners are held personally liable for business card debt. Nevertheless, a business credit card will likely help you improve both your personal and business credit standing.
That’s dependent on many factors in your credit profile.
Sorry, but there's no way to download an application for the BBVA Business Rewards card. Best you can do is go to the nearest branch and ask for a physical copy. You can locate the nearest branch here: https://secure.bbvacompass.com/locations/ .
Yes, there is a BBVA secured business credit card, called the BBVA Compass Secured Visa Business Card. It requires a deposit of at least $500 and does not charge an annual fee the first year your account is open ($40 after). You also get 1-3 rewards points per $1 spent.
No, I tweeted them because I had the same question and unfortunately they replied that they do not currently report to Dun & Bradstreet.
