HSBC sold the majority of its U.S. credit card business to Capital One (one of our advertising partners) in May 2012. The sale included popular brands like Orchard Bank and Household Bank as well as a collection of co-branded offers – including the Best Buy Credit Card and the GM Credit Card. HSBC also sold one-third of its remaining credit card business to First Niagara Bank. Nevertheless, the company continues to offer a number of different cards, available on both the Visa and Mastercard networks. I obtained a HSBC credit card about eight years ago. At the time, I was newly divorced and my credit was quite blemished. HSBC accepted me with about a 18% rate. I really only wanted the card to help me fix my credit which it is helping me to do. About two years ago they approved me for a different HSBC card with a lower rate due to my credit improving and my timely payments with them.…read more
I have had a HSBC credit card with Best Buy for over 5 years. Over the years, the rate has stayed the same 17% APR, but with every purchase, especially larger ones I qualify for no interest for at least 6 months, sometimes up to 12 depending on how large the purchase is. My experience has been very positive so far. Every time I need to purchase something large, I use it because if I can pay it off soon, there will be no interest accumulated.…read more
The HSBC Platinum Card is very useful for my line of work. I am glad I have it. It makes transactions so much easier and more convenient and since I pay off all my credit debts, I never get into problems and I'm an excellent customer of the HSBC. Thankfully I have them to rely on.
I have the HSBC Platinum Credit Card. I really don’t think it’s anything that special so I don’t use it that often. I wish they had better reward promos like more cash back or something to that effect.
I had the HSBC Platinum Credit Card about 5 years ago. I remember that at the time, I had 2 5k credit cards and this one. It was the one I used the least. It's not a rewards card and at that time, there was not an introductory intro rate or anything. I ended up closing it out. It looks like they have become more competitive with the rate they are offering now for 15 months. Normally cards only offer a year. I would give it another try.…read more
I signed up for the HSBC Platinum card (along with a checking account) when I first moved to Buffalo several years ago. I had just average credit, so I was not too picky when it came to a credit card; I just hoped for the best. The "No annual fee" is nice, though the interest rate is relatively high. I have no complaints with the card's terms and conditions or customer service, though I rarely use the card anymore. My primary card is the Capital One QuickSilver, as it offers the rewards that the HSBC Platinum does not. Overall, a decent card that will increase your credit line regularly through on-time payments.…read more
I would have to agree with the other review here. My HSBC Platinum Credit Card has served me extremely well over the years. I just recently switched to a different card. But to anyone who needs a new card or an upgrade this would be the way to go. Easy and flexible is my motto.
I used the HSBC Platinum Credit Card for a few years. I applied for it when I started college to help me when I was short on cash. I have switched to a different card that offers rewards now. But to anyone looking for a card with no annual fee that is simple and straight forward. This would be the card for you.
