Rewards credit cards rely on three types of rewards currencies: cash back, miles and points. None is inherently better than the others, though we recommend cash back credit cards in light of their simplicity and protection against devaluation. Users can typically redeem points for travel, cash, merchandise, gift cards and more. According toWalletHub research, most points cards offer a base earning rate of 1 point per $1 spent in addition to 2-3 points in certain spending categories, depending on the card.
