Rewards credit cards rely on three types of rewards currencies: cash back, miles and points. None is inherently better than the others, though we recommend cash back credit cards in light of their simplicity and protection against devaluation. Points credit cards are typically travel-related and may even be affiliated with a particular hotel chain or retail organization. Users can typically redeem points for travel, cash, merchandise, gift cards and more.
According to WalletHub research, most points cards offer a base earning rate of 1 point per $1 spent in addition to 2-3 points in certain spending categories, depending on the card. Below you can find the latest points credit cards on the market (some offers are from WalletHub partners).

I believe that hotel points credit card can provide significant savings. I currently am using the american express starwood preferred guest credit card, a little about the card - its about 2.3 cents per point, its nice because you can earn points while staying at hotels, also you can earn flight points. The nice thing about this card is in the start you can earn 25,000 bonus Starpoints after you use your new Card to make $3,000 in purchases within the first 3 months. This has saved me alot of money with this new sign up feature. Just wanted to share my 2 cents on this card ! Which is nice for savings with airline and hotels .
