Teachers' Federal Credit Union has great service, many varied options for credit cards, debit cards, all types loans and savings programs.

This credit card is used mainly for food and restaurant purchases. This card comes in handy and I am using it for small purchases only.

The Teachers Federal Credit Union credit card is a clunky disaster. They keep the interests low by failing to meet standard business practices. First example, I had my credit card stolen. I realized it within thirty minutes, and I called. Upon calling, I learned that a purchase had been made by someone else. They were willing to shut my credit card off, but in order to submit any indication of a fraudulent purchase I was instructed to print a form off their online page, complete it, and mail it to their headquarters. Welcome back to 1985; I'm surprised I didn't need to send a telegram. Second, whenever my purchasing behavior is abnormal, they freeze my card. They call and let me know they have fraud concerns. However, before hearing from me they shut the card off. This becomes a problem on cross country road trips when my purchasing spikes for gas. So, I kept the card but stopped using it. Third, I recently planned an overseas trip. I called ahead to them to note the account for international travel. Whereas any existing credit card would accept the call as the note, Teachers Federal CU required a photograph of my drivers license, and a sheet of information, signed and dated. The sheet included destinations, dates, credit card numbers, and several other bits of information. This, then, needed to be sent to them. So, I complained that this made no sense, as some people don't have drivers licenses. They put me on hold long enough that with the same phone I was able to originate a call to Chase bank, and put the same note on an entirely different card in just 90 seconds. Listen, I understand that credit unions are customer owned and aren't driven to make money for stock holders. Yet, that doesn't explain why the credit division is so cumbersome. There's no reason for these folks to be this incompetent.

I got one of their Visa Gift Cards from a relative and it was a pain to activate, the site is not user friendly, and can only be used at certain locations. Do NOT purchase this card for someone. There is a $4 fee which is throwing money out the window. And the person getting the card will be frustrated.

I recently signed up with the Teacher’s Federal Credit Union and I love it so far. The application process was seamless and the bank attendant that helped me through the process actually seemed like they cared. One of the things that I appreciate most about the Teacher’s Federal Credit Union is the fact that you don’t need a minimum for a checking’s or saving’s account. The only difficulty with this bank is the availability when leaving Long Island. I’ve had this account for a month so far and I plan on sticking with it for at least a few years.

This card is a new one for me but is already showing some fantastic benefits. Other than the unrivaled assurances of protection from unauthorized use and purchase protection, this card has low rates, low maximum late fee, huge grace period and so much more. One benefit that I wasn’t even expecting was this card came with something called “Passport Unlimited” membership. Every now and then I’ll be shopping or eating out and the teller will see it and without any effort on my part I’ll get a discount off the entire bill. Sometimes it’s as high as 20%. Apparently certain stores and restaurants are members of the program so when we come together I get a discount. Works for me!

I've had a secure Visa credit card with these guys for at least three years. It has been a real life saver and has helped me to rebuild my credit. I've been able to rent a car while on vacation something you don't want to do with your debit card. Yes, the interest rate is a little high at 13% (the last I checked) but it's your $500 you secured your card with, it gives you an incentive to pay it off quickly when you're paying interest on your own money. In my opinion in these bad economic times the only credit card you should have should be a secure one.
