Horrible customer service - it's all outsourced overseas to incompetent and contradicting each other representatives. On top of it all, calls get disconnected all the time after waiting on hold for hours!

Many hidden charges even for good customers that consistently pay their bill in full and on time each month. Interest charged even when you pay your balance off every month. Excessive wait times on the phone. Unhelpful representatives in the chat feature. Terrible customer service, especially during the pandemic.
It took well over 2 months for the refund from a cancelled flight to be applied to my account and in the mean time I had 3 fees (two interest charges and one late fee) even though I had paid my balance in full each month. After waiting on the phone for 2 hours and being transferred around like crazy they finally fixed their mistake and refunded the interest and fees. I finally thought I was done with the mess and logged on a few weeks later only to notice that I had a "standard interest charge" applied to my account. When I asked about it they told me that if you ever have a month where you carry a balance you are then charged interest on all purchases from the date they are made, not from the end of the statement date like usual. **Basically, the clock starts ticking on your interest the second you make a purchase even if you intend to pay your balance in full at the end of the month.** They said that this type of charging does not go away until you have not carried a balance for over 60 days. Of course I never actually had carried a balance so this charge was arbitrary. It took another hour for me to get this charge refunded and I suspect I will have to deal with the same problem next month even though they swear they fixed it for good this time.
I am so disappointed I ever got this card. The mileage rewards are not worth the hassle.

Customer service is horrible and they don’t care about their customers, do not do business with Citibank. I wish I could give zero stars. I spend roughly 50-60k per year on the card. My card balance was zero (Not traveling due to COVID) until they hit me with the $99 dollar membership fee which I didn’t know hit the account. I happily paid the fee and then they hit me with a late fee and interest for paying their other fee 2 days late. I called India and they said they can’t reverse the late fee, I canceled the card but I wish I could get the 40 minutes of my life back that I spend on their “not-so” customer service line.. Never again Citibank, that’s not how you treat your best customers!

Terrible customer care! Had unauthorized transaction in my card and called their fraud and security center everyday for the past 10 days and they really dont care.?the charge was posted in my account today and I decided to close my account forever! DO NOT TRUST THEM! They don’t care about customers

Account opened in 10/2017 with initial credit limit of $12,500. Sign-up bonus was 60,000 miles after spending $3k in first 90 days. Used the miles to fly round trip to Europe for $150.00 in fees and taxes.

The opening offer did not have a low APR, but that was okay, because I planned on PIF each month. After about 60 days of use, they sent me a 0% purchase offer to activate for about 9 months. Low balance transfer offers come almost once per month. I never use them, but it’s nice to know they are there just in case.

Fast forward to now and the credit line is $22,500. Always pay in full before statement due date and cycle everything in your life through this card to earn miles. The more income you earn and more you spend, the higher the limit. They seem to be okay with a limit 5-10x your typical spend per month.

Register for AAdvantage Shopping and earn more miles on your everyday purchases from MANY merchants (Bose, Apple, and so many others). Register for AAdvantage Dining Rewards and earn even more miles at restaurants. I’m sitting on 126,000 miles now.

I am happy with the card and with the way they have treated me. If you spend responsibly, you will be rewarded with perks (such as the surprise 0% and constant low APR balance transfer checks). The only time I speak with customer service is if they think they detect fraud - they are very good now at understanding my purchase behavior and those encounters are few and far between. I’m a happy customer.

After applying for the card, I waited nearly a month to receive it. Never got it, called them up, said they would cancel the first card (that I never got) and issue me a new one. They said they couldn't expedite it, it had to be sent through regular US mail, and I would have to wait 7-10 business days. Well after 3 weeks of waiting again, I never got it. Called them up, said they could cancel the second card and issue me a third new one through regular mail. Couldn't expedite it or track it. I said forget it. Taking my business elsewhere where I can actually receive my credit card to use.

minimum payments randomly tripled, all my other payments had been on time. could not keep up so citi closed my account. finally payed in full with a balance transfer, then they still charged interest on a $0 balance. told it would be waived by 2 employees, never waived until i called a 3rd time. dont recommend

This card is garbage for travelers. The reason isn't due to American Airlines, but rather their partner, Citi. Citi is incredibly inconvenient if you are planning to travel and actually use the card internationally. Even if you notify Citi that you are travelling, even though they e-mail you acknowledging this, they will freeze your card. And they won\'t give it back to you. Why? Because the only way those dummies know how to verify a card is via sending you a letter like we live in the 1800s. Then you have to call them and tell them the code you received in the mail. Well, what good does that do if you are abroad? None. Not to mention the fact you need to call them for this. This phone call will be incredibly expensive if you are overseas. I paid $20 for one 20 minute call. These guys don't allow the possibility of emails. This is a trash card because of its inconvenience due to Citi bank. My card has now been frozen a second time. For what? Logging in to my account using the correct password. I am certain of it. If you're travelling, I highly recommend finding a card that does not use Citi. If you plan to rely on a Citi card abroad, you will be screwed.

DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THIS COMPANY!! They do not honor what they say. I was told by 3 people I would get a call back And did not. I was told I would get 60k miles and guess what...they did not give them. Switch to another travel card with another company. You will be SO much more happy!!!
