I haven't used American Express for very long- nor have I owned credit cards for a significant time. However, there are some positive things to owning a card from AmEx- I have personally found it the easiest card to manage, simply from not wanting to spend as much needless money on a "fancier" card, you could say. Might sound silly but human psychology is a wonderful thing. Merchants also look for American Express when you're buying things- you'll probably feel more valuble as a customer. The added addition of being able to use "points" for flights and such was wonderful. I was able to visit my family back west a little more!

There's two sides to getting this card. On the plus side, American Express is a great company, and having their army of customer support agents at your side is a pretty great feeling. The system is set up so ensure a great experience from the customer standpoint. However, the cons are more practical in nature. The annual fee is $125, which is a pretty high fee to deal with American Express. In addition, not all companies will take American Express, so having another card as a backup plan is a good idea. If you're in a financial position where this isn't as important to you, I would suggest applying for this card. Having it in your pocket when the need arises is certainly comforting.

I absolutely love my Gold Card. I think that the reward system is purely genius, and I have already redeemed most of my points towards Travel Rewards. The fact that I have to pay off my balance every month has kept me organized, and is a lot less stressful than paying a large bulk at a time. My budget since using this card has been clean and precise. AMEX is accepted most places around (California) here, so I've had no problems with being moved to another store just because of my card. Finally, being a huge music lover, I get to enjoy concerts with almost unheard of perks. This card was totally worth it, thanks AMEX!

I use this card for 3 reasons: gas, restaurants and travel. I use it to keep track of business travel expenses. I have often called the company to request information because I didn't want to wait for a full statement. They were very cool. I don't know if it is the status of the particular card or whether all AmEx cardholders get the same treatment - I'm hoping the latter - but they have EXCELLENT customer service. No lie, I get treated excellently. Even one time after I got laid off and was having trouble making payments, they were so kind and patient. They worked with me and when I got my new position, we resolved everything. I am 100% thrilled with this company and their service. The annual fee - I could do without, but I guess that's how the get the training they get.

I have had my Amex for a little over a year now, and I love it. When I first got the card I was worried about having to pay off the monthly balance every month because I didn't have to do this with my old credit card. After using it for so long though I can honestly say I LOVE that feature. It has helped keep myself on top of my finances even better than before. I also NEVER overspend now that I have this card because I KNOW I do have to pay it off. The only thing I don't like about this card would be that not all retailers do accept it like my old VISA. So, I try to remember those retailers when I'm out and about so that I can make sure to either brign cash or my debit! (:

I’ve always found that when I’m looking for a new card I go strait to Visa and I’ve been neglecting what American Express had to offer till now. I’m not sure why I always found myself stuck in that place but it was certainly worth broadening my horizons. My American Express Gold card gave me a sense of nobility, believe it or not. Merchants actually treat me different from when I use to pull out a standard Visa. Another nice perk is the special offers you get for being an American Express “Gold” card holder. I’ve gain some fairly lucrative access to concerts just by being a gold card holder. Like I said, “sense of nobility”.

I have been using my American Express Card since I was 19 years old to establish good credit. What I love about this card is the security, it was very easy to cut off my card when it was stolen a few months ago. The customer service is simple and great, and never takes too long- I also like the fact that I can constantly check my balance online and that I feel like I’m complete control of my finances. Since sometimes I feel like my bills can be rather ambiguous. However, I wish more retailers took American Express than they usually do, it can’t be my main credit card for that reason.

I have been a loyal American Express Cardholder for over 15 years. I have always paid my bill on time and have had no issues with chargebacks, etc. I have always been happy with their customer service as well. I can remember one time while traveling overseas that my card was stolen and I was overnighted a replacement card in Europe and all of the charges associated with the fraud were removed from my card with no difficulty. There is a fee associated with this card and any additional cards on the account but just for the ease of use of the website it makes it well worth it.

I have been with Amex since I was old enough to get credit. My favorite thing about a charge card is that I have to pay the monthly balance every month, meaning no racking up debt that I can't pay back. Only trouble I have with American Express is that the local businesses in my area don't like to take it, something to do with the fees, they wont offer any further information. I spoke to customer service on a few different occasions and seemed to be taken care of in a quick fashion. Maybe it's just me but I feel that the annual fee is a little steep. However I can't say that as a con because I don't have any other charge cards to compare it with.

I've had the American Express for 1 year now. I'm 22 years old and this is my second credit card I have owned. I have had zero problems with American Express and am very pleased with the card. The annual fee for the first year is waived and you get a lot of bonus rewards if you spend $2000 in the first three months. I only customer service contact I have had is after using the card for the first couple of times. They automatically locked my card, which was slightly annoying, and I had to call their customer service line. I spoke to someone from India, who spoke good English, who went over my credit transactions. After verifying it was me using the card, my card was unlocked and I was allowed to make further purchases. Besides that interaction, I have had no problem using my card anywhere.
