This American Express Card has no preset spending limit, giving you purchasing power that adjusts with your use of the card. No preset spending limit does not mean unlimited spending. Your purchases are approved based on a variety of factors including spending patterns, your payment history, your credit history, and financial resources known to us.

The Amex Green card does not have an over limit fee. Amex might allow you to go over the limit when making a purchase, although it is not guaranteed. If you're approved to go over the limit, you might be required to make a pre-payment before the purchase or before the balance due date. The exact amount of the pre-payment will be disclosed to you prior to completing the transaction.
Because the card has a “No Preset Spending Limit” feature, it is difficult to pinpoint the exact spending limit that you have. The spending power may fluctuate from month to month, based on your spending patterns, payment history and so on. If you plan on making a large purchase with your Amex Green card, you can use the “Check Spending Power” feature to see if the charge will be approved. You can access that feature from your online account.
The easiest way you can apply for the Amex Green card is either online or over the phone at (800) 528-4800. Alternatively, you can respond to a mail offer.

My American Express credit card has worked out very well for me. There have been instances where I have needed to contact American Express about issues with a bill and also for charges that I did not incur. There customer service was excellent and professional, totally hassle free.
I try not use credit cards very much, but I must say when a sudden expense appears it is very comforting to know I have credit to cover. The extra time to think and rearrange the budget is invaluable.
I had gotten into substantial debt with credit cards in the past, but I learned my lesson. The American Express is world wide and well established so, I also have been able to use it trouble free in foreign countries. I would recommend this card for peoples who are in control of their finances.

I have been an American Express member for 7 years, and I use my American Express Green Card all the time. I have found that most merchants accept it, and it is very convenient not to have a pre-set spending limit to worry about. I like earning points, and especially appreciate that I can link them to my Amazon account and pay for items using my American Express points. American Express’ website is very easy to use, and I have never had a problem processing payments or finding information online. In the few rare occasions that I’ve had to call their customer support it has always been a pleasant, fast, and polite experience. I’m very pleased with this card.

They sent me an invite through the mail a few years back, I did not expect to get approved with a credit score of about 680 but to my surprise I was (unfortunately I had an item on my credit record at that time that I couldn't get rid of. Thankfully, it's since been successfully disputed.). So far I have been really satisfied with this card. No limit and no late fees. Excellent customer service. They are the true definition of "active monitoring". Last year they caught the theft of my card number really fast, before I had even saw my statement. Apparently, it was being used to make a bunch of internet purchases and the card company was able to quickly determine they were suspicious (compared to the quantity and nature of my usual spending activity). I had no clue what was going on, so what a relief to be contacted about the situation and discover my credit card number had been stolen, but then be immediately told that it's already been taken care of. I was so grateful. I love this card.

We initially signed up for an American Express to help lay a good foundation for our Credit usage. We already had good credit scores, but we wanted to have a more history for when we got older. The only thing we used it for was once a month we bought a week’s worth of groceries with it, so we could easily pay it off each month. Once our first year was up, we decided to pay the fee to keep it only to continue to build credit. We had no problems with the card, but after that second year, we decided against keeping it. They offer good programs, but unless you travel most of them aren’t that great. We couldn’t justify the cost each year to keep the card, when it’s only purpose was to build credit. However, if we decide later to travel, we will likely pick it back up.

I first got my American Express card when I moved into my own place. There were a lot of things that I needed for my house and it was nice to have the opportunity to purchase what I needed without having to spend the money up front. I quickly learned that American Express is a charge card, not a credit card. I know I probably sound like an idiot for not knowing that but someone I managed to rack up close to $2000 after buying all that I needed for the house plus furniture. But it actually worked out okay. I could not pay it all up front, but I got on a payment plan. American Express withdrew $200 from my bank account on the last day of each month, and after 10 months - I had the card paid off and still got to keep all of the things that I had purchased from my new place. I did cancel the card but I would definitely open one again in the future when I am more prepared and have more money to pay it off every month.

A lot of people don’t include charge cards in their rewards credit card search, which is odd because charge cards are technically credit cards. Obviously, charge cards are generally for people with excellent credit and they require that you pay your balance in full every month, so they aren’t right for everybody, but they often have better rewards than traditional credit cards. From name alone, you’d therefore have to be encouraged by the American Express Green Card. I mean, it could be good for the environment or give you citizenship or something, but that’s doubtful since a card offering those things would definitely have a higher annual fee than $0 in the first year and $95 thereafter. Unfortunately, you’re bound to be disappointed by the Amex Green Card. It only gives you one point per dollar spent, 2 points for every dollar in travel purchases via American Express travel, and 10 points when you shop at www.membershiprewards.com/earn. The latter two things don’t really count either because credit card company run online shopping malls typically charge higher prices than you can find elsewhere, so these rewards offered by the American Express Green Charge Card aren’t really rewards at all.
So what cards will give you more green than the Amex Green Card? When it comes to charge cards, the Amex Gold and Platinum Cards offer much better rewards, but also come with steeper annual fees, so you would have to determine how much practical benefit you’d get from these rewards and how much it’d be worth to you. When it comes to credit cards, it really depends on your biggest expenses, but cards like the Capital One Cash Credit Card, which offers 1.5% cash back across all purchases, and the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card, which offers a $500 initial rewards bonus, 2 points per dollar on travel and dining, and 1 point on everything else, would both be better options than the American Express Green Card.
