Insecure platform and horrible fraud investigation procedures. The incompetent investigators allowed someone to get away with $1540 in atm withdrawls made several hundred miles from my home. I havent a clue how they did this. I still have the card and have never given anyone my pin!! They say these were authorized, despite my having the card, making purchases in my town and working 10 hr shits + 1hr commute each way each on these

The absolute worst ever. Outrageous fees and zero services. The fees smack of usury. I canceled my other AMEX cc cards after I got robbed using this one. Do not waste your time, once the money is on the card, it is VERY hard to get off without paying fees. We lost 20% (so far)

I had my card since 2017 activated it but never used it. I kept it because I considered activating a sub account for my teenage daughter. Something I could put money on for her to spend. Doesn't even deserve one star. They are crooks and will lock your card. IF you ever get someone on the phone, they tell you they can't see why your card is locked and transfer you to a supervisor, but you are always disconnected. This has happened to three of my family members. I will be contacting my state's Attorney General.

I used to use this card from Jackson Hewitt but as they decided to screw everyone including myself with the 2020 Stimulas deposit I WILL NEVER USE THEM OR THE CARD AGAIN!!!! I used to love Amex Serve, for years, but it's turned really awful of late. Among the other issues I've had, I recently had a fraudulent charge on my account. It will take weeks, all in all, to get it resolved, and who knows if they'll even issue me a refund after all that. I've spent hours on the phone trying to sort this out. I was unable to upload my declaration of fraud and
had to spend hours again on that. My new card won't arrive for 7-10 days (although if it really arrives when they say it will, I will be shocked.) They take up to 45 days - 45 days!!! - to analyze my fraud claim. Meanwhile, I'm just plain old out the money, and I will probably never see it again. This comes after a situation where they lost my direct deposit for 3 days, so now I won't use that service. American Express has proven to me what ive always suspected from them. That is their double standard approach towards their own customer base. On one hand they have the Amex platinum and Amex gold Card customers and on the opposing end they service the lower echelon clientele with a prepaid product interestingly called Serve. This is a prepaid debit card/checking account mostly used by non credit worthy customers who have yet to establish a good
enough credit rating or have somehow soiled their credit rating with late payment history and/or complete defaults on their loans. Whatever the case, regardless of intent or circumstance the results are usually quite negative, and the consequence is the inability to obtain credit cards and loans, as well as insurance policies and in some cases jobs; positions may not be offered or withheld from otherwise qualified deserving candidates. Sadly these same people may have been able in many instances to correct their credit woes if they could establish gainful employment. Its a catch 22 and the more misfortunes in ones life the greater the barriers to rebuilding ones life will become.
Amex platinum card holders, typically have much more money and disposable income then a Serve card holder may have. Yet the Serve card has hidden fees for almost any occasion. Try to check your account balance using an atm machine not on the money pass network lately? Well if you do then a fee will be assesed for that privilege. Did you attempt to withdraw an amount greater than your $750 daily limit allows? Try it with serve and you'll be penalized for the attempt. Regardless of network a charge will be assessed for merely attempting. It appears on your account as an overlimit attempt fee of .75 cents. Ever try to contact customer service which they claim is 24 hours. There are no options to reach a live operator at serve unless you are calling to advise them of a lost or stolen card. This is prosperous. There is noone else to speak to regarding anything other then reports of lost or stolen cards. I suggest you speak to those guys regarding anything and everything because theres just no other choice. Also, lastly i would like to point out the fact that some merchants refuse the serve card because it has no chip function. Considering that Amex cards are accepted in fewer places than the traditional Visa or Mastercards this only adds insult to injury. American Express clearly expresses a bias toward the higher more capable of absorbing miscellaneous fees class of people and a double standard of service and support in their daily course of business.… show more

Serve card website is broken, and when you call to get help the give the ran a round and just keep sending email to create a uid and password. I already done 5 times. I just want my card activated. I same the same issue with two card, this is ridiculous.

I pay a 1.00 monthly fee (which is why I am reluctant to close my account because if I want to open it again, the fee will have gone up I think) I've had this card for a long time and get my paychecks on it. out-of-network atm fee totals 5.50 with their fee and the atm's fee and several places I regularly go don't take american express. I love the reserve account feature which I can move money back and forth as much as I want unlike with my bank account where I can only do it 6 times a month. I really like the app and I get balance alerts every day and can text BAL to get my balance at any time. However if you want a comparable card with no fees, switch to american express bluebird. It is essentially the same except no monthly fee and the reserve account is called a "setaside" account. The only reason I'm switching from bluebird (to Chime) is because again, many places I go don't take amex like goodwill and costco. Look up chime, it's Visa, no fees, free savings, app etc. But this serve card has served me well up until now. Plus you can't get cash back at the register with serve or bluebird either.… show more

I was sent a direct deposit on November 19, 2019 . American Express Serve still have yet to send thr money back to the sender it is know December 29, 2019 sad that this company choices to keep the money and not follow proper protocol.

There is no score lower than what could be found under a rock in the farthest depths of hell to rate the experience I had today with Amex Serve!! I've barely use the card in many months except to load money on it as an extra savings place for special occasions. Today, I went to buy groceries for our Thanksgiving dinner, and checked the card balance before I started out. My account had been closed!!!
I received a message when I logged into my account with a customer service number. I was absolutely livid!!! I called the number and some woman answered the line whose English sucked plus 10!! She explained to me that I hadn't met their company's security requirements!! What damn security requirements??? She placed me on hold for damn near 30 minutes to talk with the tech department. I've had that card for a couple of years, and I've never experienced such a thing. Furthermore, how dare they close my account without any notification?!?! Where the hell is my money??!! I work too damn hard to save money and have it taken from me like this. I haven't done a damn thing but place money on the card!! I haven't used it to purchase a freaking thing in months. We use it to save money for special occasions. That pathetic heifer of a customer service rep verified my home mailing address and email, and told me that a check for the amount of money I had on the card had been sent to me on 11/23/19. I actually asked the good Lord to please save my life because I was so angry, I though I was going to have a coronary!! My money better be in my mailbox with a quickness!! Stay away. The monthly fee/ service charge is ridiculous. Be prepared to pay it as soon as you purchase the card. If you purchase the card for a bill make sure to add an additional $6.95 to your card for the same day service charge fee or be prepared for your card to be declined and your bill unpaid. If I could give it zero starts I would. I’ve purchased a lot of gift cards
over the past few years, this is the only one that I regret buying and to think I was considering getting my paycheck loaded to this card, not after reading you can’t withdrawal your own money from the account.… show more

It takes 7 days for a merchant refund to be processed, this isn’t normal! I use my debit or credit card and refunds are processed immediately. Don’t use this card if there is a possibility you may return your purchase for a refund. I wish the US government would regulate this process and make them issue refunds promptly.

I have had this card for about 6 years now and in the beginning it was great! Of course there are stores/companies who wouldn't accept Amex, but that wasn't much of an issue. Customer service was helpful and they did all they could to help. I don't know what has happened in the past couple of years, but this is not a good card to have anymore. refund, the mechant will release the funds (and it will show, in green, the funds are back in the account on the app) but Amex will hold them for upwards of 7 days! When you call to get an explanation, they lie and will tell you 2/3 different dates depending on which rep answers the phone. Just today I had a rep tell me that maybe I called and "rushed" amazon to send my refund and that's why it came faster & when I told him "no, I never even had to call amazon" he just repeated the same lie, blaming the banks for holding the funds. Then insisted that he didn't have a manager or dept head that I could talk to. I will be cancelling this card AS SOON as they refund my money. I used this card at a gas pump. Big mistake! It put $100 on hold on my account. The actual cost of the gas, $33 went through but the $100 hasn't and its been over 8 days. I tried calling customer service to get an actual person but got nothing. Maybe it was a mistake getting this card.

Anyone who uses papal knows that it doesn't take PayPal 7DAYS to return money into an account. My direct deposits are never consistent! I was told to call my employer. They said the notify the same time every two weeks and still have never received a deposit two days early! Like most other people I have been a victim of fraud and American Express Serve is doing nothing about it. My question is why do the charges need to post before they are disputed? Once i realized my card had been cloned and used fraudulently on Feb 7 I called right away and all the charges were still pending. They told me they could not begin the dispute process until they posted! Why is there
no option to void pending transactions? Especially from a company like Amex. So the next day Feb 8th i checked my account again and most of the charges had posted with the exception of 2 (merchant never collected the money for 2 fraud transactions so i guess it released on its own) I have all my confirmation emails stating the dispute has been filed but i dont have time to wait 21-45 days for these dumb asses to investigate. Stay far away from this card people! I got this card out of desperation because I was in the chex systems and couldn't get my own bank account due to my PNC account being compromised years before. The only thing i really liked was that i get paid two days earlier but that shit doesn't even matter anymore. Hardly anyone takes Amex and overall it's a hassle. I couldn't even withdraw my own money in Dominican Republic back in September because it's not a real bank and you can't use it internationally. Some BS! They hold your refunds for 7days.
They charge 2.50 for each atm transaction.
There’s no chip on the card so bank atm don’t accept it. And the so called free atm locations are, If accurate, Inconveniently located.
I’ve been with AMEX for over 6 years and nothing has gotten better.
The only plus, is getting your direct deposit early.
Not worth the charge backs by my credit card

I honestly think that the people who give this card a good rating are somehow affiliated with the company or just haven't been burned yet. I noticed some people said that in most cases it was user error or something the person did wrong. To those people, I just ask you to believe me and think of this scenario. I went to the ATM, the ATM was not out of money or malfunctioning because the
second transaction went through. However, the first transaction for 200$ did not dispense money. I am told to wait 45 days to get this money back. I just want to warn people that even with Wal-Mart money cards if the ATM doesn't dispense money its ten days. I thought ten days was a lot but what if it had been 400$. Does American express really think everyday people who for whatever reason have to put their money on prepaid cards can wait 45 days for hundreds of dollars to be returned? Its sad. Don't do business with them. When you get a refund you have to wait up to 15 days. Let's say for example you do a Walmart return for 20 bucks it will go back to your account in 3 days and the minute it gets returned serve puts a hold on it for additional 7 days. So what ever money you get back from who ever serve puts it on review for 7 days. And

This company is TERRIBLE. They put holds on basically everything in order to collect additional interest off your money. Returned merchandise They have a "7 day merchandise review" hold before they give you your money. Companies that release holds (like hotel's); 8 day hold. Also, used this card in Vegas. The resort puts a $50 per day hold on the card for incidents, which gets returned. Apparently Amex Serve also increases all hotel and resort
charges by 25%, to cover incidentals. You will not receive any of this back for 8 days. The second I receive my refunds after their mysterious 7 day hold, I'm withdrawing all my funds and closing the account. Already transferred my direct deposit to my bank.
