I though I'd found a decent card; however, I found out today that they hijack your money for 7 DAYS so they can earn interest on it, I guess.
My story:
I had 4 orders from evine live that I cancelled.
When I placed the orders, my Bluebird funds (almost $300) were put "ON HOLD" on 02/08/11;
Evine contacted Bluebird on 02/09/16 the orders were cancelled & to release the funds to me;
On 02/11/16, my funds were still "ON HOLD";
I contacted Bluebird & was told their policy is to keep the funds "ON HOLD" for 7 days then on the 8th day to either send to merchant or release to member,
I told CS Supervisor my funds were for non-existent orders, so did NOT fall under their policy, she said they still will keep my funds ON HOLD for the 7 days DESPITE merchant telling them to release them to me!?!? :(
Need I say I'm no longer going to use this card once my funds are released?!?!

Screw green dot. Pay $5 for the card and have no fees at any Walmart. Reload is free, no paying stupid amounts at the end of the month for not using your card. NO FEES. Except a non Walmart ATM for withdrawls. Have had it for about a year and a half and had no problems. The people complaining did it to themselves. Either buying something on a shady website or blaming amex for taking money when your son or someone else close to you is in fault. I have always received a refund for a mistake purchase within a reasonable amount of time. If you wait a week to report it then you shouldn't own any type of card. Know what you have and know what you spend. A++ for Bluebird.

I see a lot of people complainging about fees and gas holds. May I just say, you are going to get this with EVERY debit card. Unlike other prepaid debit cards however, you don't pay monthly fees. Another thing, if you don't know by now not to use a debit card at the pump you need to cut up every card you own and just stick with cash. You ALWAYS pay inside with a debit card/prepaid card. As far as your tax refund, that is not Amex fault the government didn't push yours through fast enough. As soon as the funds are posted, they recieve them. I get my pay checks a full day earlier thanks to this card because as soon as payroll posts it, the funds are put into my account. This is an amazing card as far as prepaid cards are concerned.

bluebird is the worst card you can get they will lie about fees and direct deposts they claim you will get your taxes faster but you will not

Barely any fees! Way better then any other debit card company. Ex. Green Dot. I Love My card. It works for online use. Never had any problems.

I wanted to; do something different and purchase a Bluebird for now... I have seen not, so good outlook's from customer's but; I'll stay Low using my Bluebird (Only) travel purpose's... P.S. AE was an all time Favorite for TRAVEL when; I was growing up in the 80's early 90's...

I have had my Bluebird American Express card for almost a year now and had no issues until last Wednesday 1/20/2016 when I had unauthorized transactions on my card, I had called and filed fraudulent on the charges, they finally got back to me today on 1/26/2016 by email saying that they investigated it and they see that the transactions were authorized and they cant get the money back. NOT OK!! no one knows my pin but me, and i never made those transactions. it was a total of 168 dollars that i lost. Now i after receiving that email I had received a balance email saying that my balance in my account is 0.00 dollars which is really odd considering i had almost 1000 on my card the night before. I called the customer support number and the 1st agent was nice and then he hung up on me. I called in a second time and the agent was very nice, she stated that 2 check withdrawals equaling out to my total was removed from my account, not sure how that was possible when they had disabled my card and I couldn't use it. The second agent had transferred me to another specialist agent and that agent had told me that they had sent me 2 checks with my money on it. I don't understand why they just couldn't send me a new card. After experiencing the worst customer service today I will no longer be using bluebird american express for anything. I originally got it to use my Walmart savings catcher money but now i think i will do something else. WORST WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!

**NOTE** BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR CARD. THE MOMENT YOU SUBMIT FRAUDULENT CLAIMS ON YOUR CARD, AMEX BLUEBIRD WILL DISABLE YOUR CARD AND WONT SEND YOU A NEW ONE THEY WILL ONLY SEND YOUR MONEY BY CHECKS. SO I HOPE YOU DON'T WANT TO BE THEIR CUSTOMER AFTER THAT.

I got it because they had a limited promotion where they would DOUBLE your Walmart SavingsCatcher money. But, I have continued to use it. There are no fees except ATM charges. But, fees are waived with a compatible ATM. It's simple and easy to use the card, from adding funds to making purchases - online or in-store. It's an American Express and not all businesses will accept AE. But, that's not an issue for me, I give it 5 stars in the world of Prepaid!

A friend had recommended this prepaid card to me. I was very happy with it. There were no monthly fees which is a big plus to me. I had to call customer service twice, just to find out some information, and the reps. are very knowledgeable and friendly. I also like that it is simple to check out your account information online. I think it is one of the best prepaid cards out there.
