The travel options are completely terrible. With nearly 100,000 miles you're still paying out a significant amount of cash for terrible flight options. It's cheaper to shop your travel needs through travel websites. I'm completely disappointed in this card since I got for travel purposes.

The whole point of this card is you don’t have to pick from a selection of flights provided by the credit card company. You book whatever flight you want wherever you want. Then when the purchase shows up on your bill, you pay it off with miles….

Capital One Venture has the absolute worst customer service ever! I've had 2 different issues with fraudulent disputes and they don't ever help the customer out. I had a shady airline website make charges that I never authorized and tried to make me pay cancellation fees to remove the charges and Venture told me to file a Dispute. Which I did and the manager at Venture reassured me not to cancel the charges even though I only had 24 hours to cancel or they would charge me the full amount. The manager said I would win the case and not to cancel in order not to get the cancellation fees added as well from the shady merchant. I did what she asked and then 2 months later they sent me a letter saying my case was lost because I never canceled the charges that they supposedly said they've taken care of and said the case is lost and the money has been paid to the merchant. I told them the phone calls are recorded and I have the manager's name and employee ID and they said they needed that in writing not over the phone and it's my responsibility since it was my card. Stay away from this card, american express handles all your disputes for you with no problems and they make sure the customer is priority over the merchant. Any shady fraudulent activity occurs, american express has your back. Venture is only interested in taking your money and treating you like your the problem. I'm closing my account with them as soon as the dispute is closed and am telling every person I know not to get this card.

I don’t know about the credit card itself, because I didn’t receive it yet, I applied on October 17th and today we are November 8th, my concern it’s about the costumer service, it was very poor and very bad. First of all to speak with a representative, you need to wait on holding for at least 30 minutes, I called 3 times, and each time it was that long. Second they only information that they provide you is: you gonna receive it soon !!!! On my last call I was told that they gonna cancel the card and send me a new one in 6 to 10 other business days, so I asked about the APR because basically the time l am gonna receive the card, I am gonna have only 11 month APR instead 12 month, they said there is nothing that we can do about it. I am really disappointed about that, and I pretty sure that I am gonna receive my first bill before even receiving the credit card, do you think that is fair?

Got this credit card about 5 months ago. I appreciated that I got my bonus rewards right when I hit the promotional spending requirement, without having to jump through hoops. Also appreciate their fraud text alerts regarding potential unauthorized used of my card. To block the transaction, I just had to text back saying 'no' and it blocked my card. I get a piece of mind knowing that if someone tries to steal my credit card, I'll be notified.

One of the worst customer care ever despite of annual fees. Cancelled card after two years. No balance on card with use of card over $3000 a month, they were not able to solve simple problems. Most of the time disputes were solved months later. Customer reps are unfortunately very low intelligence and not interested in helping customers. Do yourself a favor and skip this card.

Stay away from Capitol One. Ripped me off $59. No one to talk to. And they just don't care. Paid $59 for a card I didn't have. When I thought they were being shifty I said let me record this phone call. Of course they said no. They don't want the public to know how they rip people off. Stay away - Too many other cards to deal with these people.

After six months of being patient trying to work through a dispute with Expedia I ended up closing the account. This is not a company that will fight for its customers. I paid to have a flight rescheduled that was then cancelled by the airline (fun times trying to outrun Hurricane Maria...) Neither the airline nor Expedia would work with me on a refund. Capital One drug this out for SIX MONTHS and I patiently worked with them (shame on me). After six months they told me that it was too long to pursue this any further and washed their hands of it. I cancelled the card with $130 in points left on the card which they would not refund me. Hopefully they use it for personality training for the supervisor who handled my case because she has NONE.
Peace out Capital One, I won't be back. We transacted over $60K annually through that card and were never late on payments. I went to Citibank, got the same 2% rewards with no annual fee. And... and... wait for it... they have free TRAVEL INSURANCE in case crap like this happens to you! Pick another card and another company. This one isn't for you.

They loudly claim that your 'rewards' never expire. So imagine my surprise when I find that I'm no longer able to apply my travel rewards after 90 days! Customer service reps had a difficult, tongue-tied time trying to explain to me that the travel expenses which enable me to claim my rewards - really are NOT my rewards. Capital One defines 'rewards' on this credit card as total expenses charged (which in fact give you nothing unless you have travel points to deduct from them). The poor phone reps trying to justify this scam to me were obviously squirming. Then they informed me that really, I can apply my travel points for up to 180 days of the travel purchase - but I have to phone them to do that, as they disappear from the screen (so how would anyone know that without keeping an Excel spreadsheet?) And I was told that if I could apply only a portion of my travel costs, the remainder would still be available to use. But that remainder also permanently disappears from the screen. When I asked to speak to a manager to complain about their false advertising, I was told "when I was approved for the card I was sent paperwork specifying that my travel purchases could not be redeemed after 180 days - somewhere in the fine print". Be prepared to receive a couple of dollars in the class action suit...

UGH! This is the first credit card I have had in 20 years! Redeemed my rewards and paid the balance as instructed. I was charged interest because the “rewards reduced my balance 338.00 but I still had to pay the total due 1537.04”! (Not 1199.04 as I was instructed to do) Right hand doesn’t know what left hand is doing! Lots of double talk! More trouble than it’s worth! Wouldn’t wave a 12.00 interest charge! Buhbye Capitol One!

I have used this card for a few years. They have allowed a fraudulent charge that has cost me $1100 & customer service didn’t do anything to resolve the issue. Capital one provided me with 0% protection against a fraudulent / scam charge. Definitely not recommending it to anyone
