People - you should be glad Citi is trying to prevent fraud. A little inconvenience is better than having your money pilfered. It is a good card, maybe the best on cash back. Customer Service varies with people administering all cards.

I agree with your point, but in my case Citi's dipute resolution geniuses ruled in favor of seller, demanding my payment for item not received. Do business only with ethical banks, not Citi!

I went to go make an airline ticket purchase and was declined immediately due to them flagging it as frad. After clearing it up via a confirmation text i went to make the purchase again and the ticket price rose. In calling Citi to see if there was anything they can do (considering they do something similar for Price Rewind) I talked to a bunch of people who were uninterested in helping me, and instead more interested in sending me off to someone else who (shocker) couldnt help me either, and the cycle continues. Dont ever plan on using this card for anything over $1 now because who knows, it could get declined and Im stuck paying the price for it. How convenient. Their service sucks and its disappointing. Fraud protection can be done right. My Capital One card has flagged me before and rather than declining, they allow the charge to pend while the clear it up with me so I dont get stuck with a useless card, nor do i get stuck with a fraudulent charge.

When shopping for airline tickets always use a private browser! You’ll notice that the prices won’t change because that can’t track which IP address is visiting the site multiple times!

They might open an account for you, then not let you actually use it. I was ineligible for instant approval when a ~750 FICO, then after a few days I got my approval notice. I received my cards in the mail, then when I tried to activate them the web page said there was an internal error and that I should try back later. After sometime I called and found that they claim the fraud department noticed a discrepancy with my account and that I needed to send a form in. Nearing the 3rd statement (the account is opened and unusable this whole time) they left a voicemail asking me to call them back. I was informed that they sent the wrong form (nearly 2 months after getting it back) and I would be getting something different.
Also, no one on any of their teams speaks English as a first language and most can barely speak it at all. If you are one of the people who want to be able to understand people taking to you about your financials, this is not the company for you.
TLDR: you will get a credit inquiry and an account you cannot use.
Should be 0 stars.

You should had looked online for the 'backdoor' phone numbers to appeal you case once you received the latter, or better yet, as soon as the computer generated 'we need 7-10 business days' to review/process application. I've found this to have been of great help & gained two credit cards in this manner. Also, make sure to get your free annual credit reports every year & call to dispute every incorrect piece of information listed. If the credit agency cannot verify the data (example closed business & debt wasn't purchased), they have to remove even if it's accurate (example, an unpaid bill). However, there's more common mistakes on these reports like phone numbers never owned, addresses never lived at, misspelling of name, these type of things are flags to lenders. Once any inaccurate data has been removed, may take a month or two, should see a rise in credit scores. Finally, this offering seems to be for those with FICO scores of 780 to 780 & higher. Keep paying your bills on time every month & you'll obtain this card, or maybe one better.

Although getting denied is frustrating, this card does let you know that you need a 750+. I have a 765, and I’m still hesitant to apply because if the strict requirements. Good luck.

Card was awesome and the rewards were unmatched for my purchases. I am a business owner and used this card for several thousands of dollars a month. THEN..... MY CARD WAS HACKED! It has been 14 months since the unauthorized activity was spotted on my account. I have not even received a call from their fraud department. There have been many excuses but the main frustration is that there is no way to get a hold of the fraud department. You can fax them papers and information, but there is no number or email in order to talk to anyone. Worse yet, they did not report the fraud case correctly on my credit report. Therefore, I have had to call all 3 credit bureaus in order to correct the problem because you can't talk to anyone at CITI Bank Fraud Department. I will never get a credit card or anything from this company.

I chose this card because I wanted Cash Back. I do not fly much (I'd like to but...) so I can't really use a Miles card. I pay my card in full each month so I don't worry about the Interest Rate. So Cash Back works best for me. I would like to earn more than 2% back - years back I had a card that used to pay 5% back but this is the best I can find for right now. I have had great experience with Citibank for decades. Their customer service is always reliable. Security is excellent - I use Citibank's Virtual Numbers for all my Online purchases. I also like not having my Credit Card from my Personal Bank so there is no connection between my bank accounts & my credit cards for security.

Citi Double Cash is one of the best cash rewards cards on the market today. The reward structure is a little unique in that you get 1% cash back at the time of purchase and 1% when you pay the balance for an effective 2% cash back. There is no annual fee but there is a quite high (3%) foreign transaction fee, so I wouldn't recommend using this card when you're traveling internationally.

AVOID Citibank Credit Cards! My friend and I were taken on an education scam. We charged part of the cost to Citibank and part to USAA, the majority, $30k, to Citibank. I have great credit and a 18 month 0% interest - so put the majority on that card. When we found out it was a scam, about a week after the charge, I contacted Citibank, and my friend contacted USAA. My friend wrote one letter to USAA - and they rejected the charge. I have written 6 letters over the course of 7 months, including the letter from USAA rejecting the charge, as Citibank went back and forth with the vendor. Now - Citibank has refused to protect me - their customer!!! They sided with the vendor with an "oh well" and demand payment with in 15 days. Since USAA did side with the customer - I have proof that this was fully their choice. They chose to pay the scam artist instead of protect me. I have never once paid late, carried a balance, or done anything other than be a model customer. Well Citibank - I am shouting your lack of customer service from every rooftop I can find! No amount of promos can offset this!
