How do I add an authorized user to my Citi Double Cash account?
To add a Citi Double Cash authorized user, log in to your online account and click the “Credit Card Services” link (under the “Services” tab), followed by “Authorized Users.” After that, enter the authorized user's name, address and birthdate. You can also choose whether or not to give the authorized user online account access. Finally, if the information you submitted is accurate, click “Add.” Citi may instantly approve your request, but it could take longer if Citi has to verify the authorized user's identity.
Alternatively, you can add an authorized user to your Citi Double Cash account by phone. Just call Citicard customer service at 1 (855) 473-4583 and follow the automated voice prompts.
Citi does not have a minimum age for authorized users, nor are there any restrictions regarding the nature of the authorized user's relationship with the primary accountholder. The authorized user does not have to be a close family member, for example. Plus, Citi Double Cash cardholders can add up to 10 authorized users for free.
Authorized users should receive their own Citi Double Cash card within 10 business days of being added to the account. Once added, an authorized user will have access to your account's available credit limit. They will be able to make purchases, earn rewards, and report lost or stolen cards. They can also view account activity, transactions and statements, if you grant them access when you add them to the account. However, authorized users may not add or remove other authorized users, request a higher credit limit, or change payment information.
Before adding an authorized user to your Citi Double Cash account, it's important to understand that you (as the primary accountholder) are responsible for all of the authorized user's charges. You should also let the authorized user know that Citi will report account activity to the major credit bureaus in his or her name on a monthly basis. This means any missed payments or other negative activity will affect the authorized user's credit reports as well as your own.
Either the primary cardholder or the authorized user may call customer service to remove the user from the account at any time.
