Unfortunately, Citi Platinum Select travel insurance benefits were cut in September 2019, along with a slew of benefit cuts to other Citi cards. This card no longer has rental car insurance, trip cancellation and delay insurance, travel accident insurance, lost baggage and baggage delay protection, roadside dispatch, or travel & emergency assistance. It still has extended warranty coverage and damage/theft purchase protection, though.
If you're in the market for a good travel credit card that does offer some of these benefits, consider the Capital One Venture card. It offers secondary rental car insurance, roadside dispatch, travel accident insurance, travel and emergency assistance, lost baggage reimbursement, and more. Plus, it gives 2 - 5 miles per $1 spent, and an initial bonus of 75,000 miles after spending $4,000 in 3 months. The annual fee is $95.

BY FAR THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST CREDIT CARDS THAT I CARRY IN MY WALLET. THE PROMO WITH 0% APR FOR THE FIRST 18 MONTHS IS A GREAT HELP IN PAYING DOWN THE CREDIT CARD. WOULD RECOMMEND TO ANYONE

Out of all my cards, this one is the one I worry about the least. It came with 0% APR for the first year, which was great, and now the APR sits at a cool 12% and I've never had to deal with any huge fees either. Recently, I needed to rent a car for a vacation, and found out that through this card, not only am I offered a rental car insurance plan that's actually better than what the rental car office was offering, but they also give you a discount if you rent with Hurtz. It's not even a paltry discount--when I used this card combined with another coupon that Hurtz was offering, my car rental price dropped by almost HALF. I like cards with perks, and not many of them are offered to younger people. I'm sad that it seems like it's no longer being offered to new applicants!

So, I really like my Citibank Platinum Select card. I've had it for about 4 years. They always have really good deals, with cash advance checks; that's how I just bought my last car! I got the card because I transferred the balance from by Bank of America Credit card, and they had this great 0% APR for like a year and a half. There's no annual fee, which is awesome, and that was another selling point for this card for me. I also get cash back, which I always directly apply to my balance, which I’m sure annoys them. I wish I could get another color card, mine is this ugly green.

This Citibank Platinum Select was one of the first credit cards I owned as a college student. I was intrigued by this card at first because it gave me a balance limit that was 5-6x higher then my other card. There was also a very low interest rate, 12 months 0% APR. What got me however was the 5% extra cash rewards program from Citibank. The program itself is much better in theory than in actual execution. While getting 5% may seem very great, the program limits you to only buying stuff from their website. The website however doesn't actually let you use all of your extra cash but instead offers discounts using your extra cash. Besides that, I have had no complaints about the card. The balance limit is high enough where I never have to worry about going over. I would recommend this card to fellow college students looking for a good credit builder card with an incentive.

Overall, I would say I have had a great experience with the Citi Platinum Select Master Card. I have had the card for almost ten years now, and I have never really had any problems. The interest rate is quite high if you are late on a payment, but they are willing to work with you to lower it back down. They are also pretty flexible about working with you on payment plans if you can't afford the minimum payment. Their customer service department is very friendly and helpful. I do wish they would offer rewards like some of my other credit companies though. The balance transfer option is nice though, and I have taken advantage of it. I would definitely recommend this credit card to anyone looking for one.

Hi Michelle, there definitely are a lot of other cards out there that offer very solid rewards programs. You might give them a look and see where you can get approved.

It’s quite obvious who the Citi Platinum Select MasterCard is for. It doesn’t have an annual fee or rewards but does offer a 0% introductory APR for awhile, which makes it pretty much ideal for someone with excellent credit who is either planning a big purchase or wishing to get a lower interest rate for existing credit card debt. Whether or not it’s the best card for this type of person remains to be seen, so her are the pros and cons of picking the Citi Platinum Select Credit Card as I see them.
Pros
- 0% purchase APR for 18 months: That’s the longest 0% intro period on the market, so it gives you as long as is currently possible to pay off purchase before interest kicks in or even leave your credit card payments in the bank if you find an account with an interest rate better than the best rewards. - 0% balance transfer APR for 18 months: As was the case with purchases, the Platinum Select Citicard’s balance transfer APR is the longest on the market. There is however a downside to this card’s balance transfer terms, as you’ll see in the cons. - No annual fee: It’d be kind of counterproductive to try to avoid interest costs when paying an annual fee.
Cons
- 3% balance transfer fee: If you transfer a $5,000 balance for example, this will cost you $150. - Excellent credit requirement: If you don’t have excellent credit, this could certainly be construed as a con, especially considering the tantalizing terms offered by the Citi Platinum Card.
All in all, you can’t do better than the Citi Platinum Select MasterCard or its cousins the Citi Simplicity and the Citi Diamond Preferred (which offer the same terms) if you need as long as possible to pay off an upcoming purchase. If you want to transfer a balance, I’d go with the No Balance Transfer Fee Slate Card from Chase as long as it’s available because it offers 0% for 15 months and does not charge the same expensive transfer fee.
Id love to hear others' thoughts on this matter as well!

While the Citi Platinum Select Credit Card does not offer rewards, it more than makes up for that with its introductory interest rates. The Platinum Card is one of three Citicards that offers 0% on purchases as well as balance transfers for 21 months (along with the Citi Simplicity and Diamond Preferred Cards). Since 21 months is the longest 0% term available, the obvious question is does the Citi Platinum Select MasterCard differentiate itself at all from its cousins, so to speak, or does it make no difference which offer you choose? Well, the Platinum Select Citicard is exactly the same as the Diamond Preferred Card, both have 11.99% - 21.99% (V) APRs and no annual fee. The Simplicity Card only differs in that it has a 12.99% - 21.99% (V) APR.
Ok, but who are these cards right for? Both the Citi Platinum Card or the Diamond Preferred would be extremely helpful for people who need to lower the cost of debt, either an existing balance or an upcoming big-ticket purchase. There is another interesting application for these cards as well, however. If your bank account, gives you a lucrative interest rate, you could simply make minimum payments over the first 21 months with your card, leaving the rest of your would be payments to grow in the bank for longer. Whether this makes sense obviously depends on your interest rate and the rewards you could get from other cards. Keep in mind that a card like the Discover More Card offers 0% for 15 months and gives you rewards, which means that you could earn both interest and rewards revenue if you use it for the approach laid out above.
