Unauthorized payments, charged fees for their mistakes affecting my balance/utilization rate/credit score. I have been with Discover for 2 years, made every payment on time, paid more than the minimum monthly payment or paid balance in full almost every month. Very disappointing after 2 years of being a customer.

For a college student with zero or bad credit, it is hard to get your credit card application accepted, so the student card from Discover is like a sign of trust in a sea of suspicious eyes. However, the interest rates are very high and the late-payment fees are very strict, and hence it would be wiser for me to take my debt to Bank of America, where they start you off with 0% interest so that your minimum payments actually eat away your debt. It is a good card to get your credit score started, but it becomes somewhat of a nightmare once circumstances throw you under the bus.

This was my first credit card and it is the best. This should be the first credit card for EVERYONE! I mean it!
1. If you are a student with good grades be sure to submit a transcript as your proof and I'm pretty sure they'll give you a higher limit!
2. Discover is very forgiving. They will remove your first late payment but be sure to review the time you have to make the payment (it's usually before x:xx EST)
3. They have great rewards alright. There's other cards 1% on each purchase blah blah blah but when the gas 5% rolls around I use this card exclusively for gas and I save a lot of money doing so!
4. Disputes are great with Discover. If you bought something you never received you can upload proof right on the website instead of having to fax something in and you can submit the claim online!

The Discover IT card is absolutely amazing! As a commuting college student, the 5% cashback rotating categories are fantastic for saving some money. This past quarter has been 5% cashback on gas, which has been a huge help. The $20 cashback bonus is not so bad either, and I love that it's relatively easy to get this credit card. I had almost no credit when I applied for this card, and was approved. The interest is kind of high, but paying it off monthly should ensure that you're making money off the rotating spending categories instead of costing yourself money lost to interest. This is a must-have card for college students.

As a new student, I had been looking for a card that would give me great. benefits for being such, and I found it in the Discover It card for students. With a 5% for rewards, and not to mention a bonus $20 ($20 is $20, after all), it's great for those who need to build their credit, all while attending. college. The interest is a little high, but by limiting yourself, it should be. completely ok.

I got this one a bit before I went to France to study abroad. I figured that just in case having a credit card as back up would be a good idea, and the fact that there was no foreign transaction fee was awesome and what tipped the balance for me to get this card. Previously I had used another credit card, very seldom, and mainly my debit card for all purchases. This card did come in handy in some tight spots while on a trip through Italy, although I wish I had taken better note of the higher rate for the cash advances, leading to a higher bill than expected! Another bonus was the $20 you get for signing up! I can't say that as a poor college student, that wasn't welcome!

the reason I got this card was because I really needed a reward feature for something I could possibly be using alot. and it really did end up rewarding me. with the 5% back on rewards, I was able to save the most I could. it ended saving me alot on fuel. fuel was a big factor for me because how much I had to drive to school and work and to my home. it really came through in the clutch. helped alot on groceries. you don't get rewards on fast food so it really helped me prioritize my eating by not getting greedy and instead buying food for my home. sack lunches, drinks made at home, healthier foods. same with some department stores. I cant remember off the top of my head but I know it was large stores like target, kohls, old navy. stuff like that.i would definitely recommend this card to any student. its going to save you the most money you can and help establish credit at the same time.

Before college, I never had much experience with credit, so when I got an offer for the Discover Student card I jumped to take the offer. Having my own credit card sounded exciting, and as a college student with little money coming in, having backup funds for food and fun was great. The Discover student card came with a really high interest rate, however at the time, I didn't care much, as I didn't know what a fare rate should have been. I was mostly excited about the credit card. Eventually I learned not to charge up to high of a balance because the interest would take my funds. The cash back offered by the Discover Student card was one of the major positives about this credit card, as most no credit or student cards do not offer cash back on purchases.

I needed some type of credit card to start building my credit record in college and after a lot of shopping with my mom we came across the Discover Student Credit Card - $20 Cashback Bonus. I have to acknowledge I know and appreciate a little more than the average college student about my future finances and that I need work now to build my credit. The rewards and the initial $20 really enticed me to give my new credit card a work out, but keeping an eye on always paying off my bill each month. I have only had the card for about 6 months, but have not had any problems at all with it or Discover.
