0 stars but made me choose 1 star and that’s being generous.. Paid balance in full and cancelled account. Received another bill. I don’t care how bad your credit is. Do NOT get this card. 36% interest rate!! Plus a monthly fee PLUS a yearly fee. NOT worth keeping and the monthly payments are stupid high. Customer service is atrocious too. Do not recommend.

This card and company is all about taking your money. I got this card to help build up my credit. I didnt realized this card had a monthly fee. Also a high yearly fee of $79. I asked them to close the account like a month or two after. Since then im akway getting some extra fees or a late fee. Speaking of late fees there isnt a grace period and i definitely dont like.
I would be 1 day late and they tack on a late fee immediately. This is real ridiculous. They are nothing more than loan sharks.… show more

I got this card about 1.5 months ago. Paid the $95 fee to activate my card. Spent the money, next pay day paid $200 on the card. Went to walmart the following day to buy groceries and my card kept being declined after calling and spending 30 mins on the phone with them, they had them call my bank because they had to make sure it was me that made the payment amd making sure
I'm an authorized user on the bank acct (duh, cause no one else is going to pay my bill) they finally reactivated my card and I got to buy my groceries. Here I am again, I made a $50 payment. ( minium is $30, and I paid it before it was due, as I always do with my bills) my card has been suspened because now they need to verify my SS# and address. All the info I put in when I got approved to get the card and the address of which where I recieve my statments from the company?!. Now they want me to fax in more info. This is ridiculous. I'm not putting anymore payments on this card, I'm done. If i could give 0 stars I would. And will consider my $50 payment a loss. Perfect timing right at Christmas time too. All I wanted to do was order some food to be delivered. Thanks a lot A-Holes… show more

Please dont get this card! They will easily Prove you for this credit card when your credit is poor but once you credit has improved, they will not drop any of the monthly and annual fees. They will kill you with the monthly fees and they will not drop them under no circumstances, so you are stuck having to keep the card because it is your oldest standing account and you don't want your credit
to drop if you close the account, so you feel stuck. Get a secured credit card with $300 deposit instead, from a bank with no annual or monthly fees. Try Bank of America or Wellsfargo secured credit card.… show more

This card is fine if your credit is atrocious and you're trying to hold it back up. If you want to actually be able to USE the card, it's not so great. There are fees on top of fees and the interest is huge (obviously, as it's a bad credit lender). Payments take almost a MONTH to post as available credit, while they sit on your money that they received. I'll keep the card open
to help build credit, but I won't be using it anymore. This card should not be your only card as it's virtually useless.… show more

I feel sorry for anybody that needs to use 1st premier bank to rebuild credit. Your credit has to be really low to need them. I use to have them when my credit was in the 400's. The fees are ridiculously high. If you wanted a credit line increase you had to pay for it. I can remember them taking two weeks to credit my payments. Yeah when you wreck your credit you have to
start somewhere. I would start somewhere else. Why would you want to get this card to build a credit history? You would be forever stuck with the high fees and if you try to close it, it will make you look bad because it would destroy the length of your credit history. A secured card would be a better bet. Most of the time the fees aren't as high as this and as your credit improves, you may be able to get a better card at lower rates. 1st premier's name also screams to the world you have bad credit, since they don't offer cards people with good credit in their right mind would apply for.… show more

This card has very high interest and fees. They will offer a second card instead of just increasing your limit. They say it's to help your credit but what it really does is cost you more in annual fees and interest. They do not offer a grace period even for long term card holders and if you're less than 24 hours late, they will charge you a late fee and report it as a late
payment. I was quite upset about that. My payment was due on the 16th and I paid it at 6am on the 17th. If you're looking to build with a card you'll only need for 6 months then it's ok. I wouldn't recommend having it longer than that.… show more

RUN! This is the WORST company to try and build your credit with. I've been working extremely hard to build my credit, I made every payment on time and always more than what I should have. There were two instances where my payment didn't go through automatically because my account was literally two dollars short, however, I ALWAYS corrected the issue promptly. They got their money BEFORE the due date every time. Regardless, my account
was closed and it lowered my credit score dramatically and all the work I've been doing is down the drain. So not only were they unhelpful, their interest rates were out of this world so you will never make a dent on the bill unless you keep it at zero. I honestly think it's a scam to keep you in debt and then they find a reason to close the account to keep your deposit money. Knowing what I know now, go through your bank. The deposit will be higher, but it will help you in the long run. Good riddance.… show more

If I could I would give this card negative five stars. I have been a customer for several years. After the hurricane last year, I was placed on a temporary pymt plan to stop the interest, etc. I made all pymts and over for nine straight months. One day while paying online as I normally do, I paid the minimum pymt as listed on my account summary. I received a letter in the mail kicking
me out of the repayment plan because I was ( get this now) TWO WHOLE DOLLARS SHORT in my “promised minimum pymt. Even tho in the previous nine months I paid OVER. Yep, they refused to reenroll me for $2. Now $2 isn’t gonna break me, but the fact they would treat a long standing customer that way is outrageous. It blows my mind how folks are on here complain to high heaven about fees, fees, fees. Each and every fee is disclosed to you when you sign up! You act like it's a surprise or something. Then there is the complaint about how the card ruined your credit. This card/bank, did not ruin your credit. YOU DID. Just because you have a credit limit of $700 does not mean you spend $699 of it!
Jesus, you don't build credit by just paying bills on time. You build credit by also using your available credit wisely, meaning, YOU DONT utilize more than 30% of your credit limit. So if you have a $900 limit, dont let your balance go over $270. It's that simple. Never max out your credit cards, that is what kills you. Jesus lord the stupidity in some of these comments and reviews. I have never had an issue with this card, used it when I rebuilt my credit. Only reason for the 4 stars is because the lacks of increases they offer. Other than that, pay your bill on time and keep your utilization under 30% AT ALL TIMES.… show more

Average fees are roughly $200 whether you use the card or not. Interest is outrageous. They also charge cash advance fees of $8 for purchases that other credit cards have never considered cash advances. Worst of all, even with them making hundreds of dollars off of your card per year, even when its sitting in a drawer not being used, they still dont care about their customers. I'm obviously working on rebuilding my credit. But this card is pretty awlful. But I paid my fees ($95 to activate and $75 in fees). I have been using the card conservatively now for 2 months. I downloaded the app to my phone and set up payment to be made through my checking account. No where -- and I mean no where -- on the app does it say it could take up to 20
days for checking account paymments to clear. So, although I paid my balance in full and the money has cleared my bank I still have to wait for it to be reflected on the card balance. This would have been nice to know before I set up an auto payment for my phone bill. When I called customer service regarding this issue I was told if I paid wirh a debit card by phone the payment would post immediately. (The debit card that is attached to the checking account). Again, no where on the app is this useful bit of information available. Customer service is not overly friendly by the way.
Although not of this will cause undue problems it seems to me they could syate things a little more clearly. I keep waiting for the other shoe to fall and to get burned by all this. If I could close the account without further hurting my score I would in a heartbeat.… show more

I think that people with poor credit always have a negative insight on policies, hence the negative reviews on most of these cards for bad credit holders. If you read the terms going in, which we all do, no one can lie and say they didn't, you know what to expect. Just because you defaulted on a payment or can't pay your balances in full, or withdrew money you now owe interest on, does not
mean the company is bad lol. I mean, come on, they are extending credit to people who have a zero chance with the major companies. Be realistic, stop complaining, stop maxing out the cards to the point of not being able to maintain them, and you'll be fine. Fees are fees!! Low or high, you signed up for them. Pay the high fees for as long as it takes to be offered the better cards out there, then cancel this one. It's that simple. And anyone to cancel or not deal with a card like this, because of these poor reviews, does not have a mind of their own. Each person's circumstances are different and each person utilizes credit in a different way. My initial credit limit was $300 which is now $400 after paying the fees! I took one star away because of the poor quality of the website, which tells me that they're not as up to date as they should be.… show more

Update, having this card now for over 2 years I have gotten my desired credit card. I appreciate Premier giving me a chance and to them I am a valued customer. I did however cancel my oldest card with them. WARNING: when you are closing their card, be ready for a scare tactic to keep your card open. The rep spent 15 min trying tell me how closing the card was gonna hurt not help.
I
was patient with her and kept telling her no. She finally closed it, but I am curious how long it gonna take to actually appear closed and will they charge one more monthly fee? Ill just have to keep an eye on it I guess. The card is paid off in full too.
I do have another card with them and I regret getting it. The more you spend, the higher the minimum payment is. Like I did max it out once, I knew it was gonna hurt, but give me a break, I was paying student tuition. I max the card out, thinking I will just have to pay the minimum for a little while. SUPRISE! On a $1000 card I spent $976 on tuition, a $30 min payment jumped to $70. How was I gonna pay this? Luckily my sister gave me the money to pay it off, and I have only spent $200 in last few months and I keep it paid. Once I get some age on the card I am closing that nasty beast down.
My advice read the fine print! Pay your bill on time!
I never had any problems with them and were always friendly with me, even in their scare tactic of closing my card.
Old post:
Okay as said in the first review this card is not good
for Emergency at first. For me I had to pay 95.00 start up fee off the bat, and then 99.00 annual fee was charged to the card. However I have no problems with them, other than one time when I paid with two debt cards they suspended the credit card. I had to get my bank to show that both cards belonged to me.
Pros of the card - you can pay with a debit card, no extra fee and funds are available next day. This was my first credit card and thanks to them I have built a better score.
Cons - high APR, start up fees.
My advice is make SURE you read their terms, and/or talk to a live agent. I knew what I got into and made SURE to pay on time and more than the minimum payment.
When I opened the card, my score shot up 40pts and I been able to build on that.
If considering the card, just pay attention to their terms and way the pros and cons.… show more
