I believe this bank is a part of a scam operation. They allow fraudulent charges on the card. Then, when you jump through their hoops to dispute the charge using their archaic dispute process, they will "investigate" the charges (or so they claim), close your account, open a new account, and then determine that you have to pay the fraudulent charges on top of that. I got this card and some others in order to build credit to buy a house for my family, my mom, and my disabled brother. We need a lot of house, and I have to pull it off myself. I needed more credit. I seldom used this card and only enough to keep it active. I paid it off frequently as well. I was surprised to see a $217 charge that I didn't make. I discovered that it was a fraudulent charge on a website I never visited. I disputed the charge with First Premier Bank. Their process requires you to complete a form on a printed statement, scan it, and upload it on their website. I knew then that this was going to be a problem. Who uses such an archaic dispute method? I was shocked to learn they responded to the dispute by closing my account and opening a new account. If you're in the process of buying a home, that is a devastating blow to your credit. We had a pre-approval letter in hand, and having a new account opened after it was issued disqualified that letter. Our mortgage broker discovered it as we were preparing an offer on the house we picked out. It was so disappointing. It is such a hard time to find and buy a house. I called First Premier Bank, and to add insult to injury, they said that they determined that I was liable for the $217 fraudulent charge even after they closed my account and opened a new account that I never authorized. I certainly couldn't keep a card that allows fraudulent charges and then makes me liable for those charges. So, I was forced to close the account - the brand new account I didn't authorize to be opened in the first place. Now I have two closed accounts on my credit report in addition to paying them $217 on what shows up as a recently opened account (that I never authorized). Laughingly, they offered me a $45 credit to keep the account open. I wonder if that was so they could go spend another $217 of my money? I am so regretful that I ever did business with such an evil company. Because of them, we have had a setback of months to fix this issue. Months that my Mom and disabled brother will have to wait to get the live-in help they need. There's a hot corner in Hades waiting for the folks behind First Premier Bank.

This is a credit card geared towards those with bad credit, when you're credit isn't good you're going to have to pay to increase your score. I have had this card for probably 4 years, I started with a $300 line of credit and now it's over $1,000. The interest is high and you pay fees, but my credit isn't good so I get it, they tell you upfront exactly how much you will pay so I don't understand how anyone would be surprised or mad about it. If your credit isn't good and you don't want to pay higher interest or fees, you shouldn't use credit cards at all, stick to cash. The first premier website and app is good, and I've never has any issues with customer service, I would recommend this card for anyone with a credit rating below a 620, it will help you out a lot!

I have good credit, always pay my bills. A year after I got my first mortgage a First Premier card appeared on my credit. I have plenty of other cards, but never a Premier card. I have made several complaints to them but they refuse to remove it. Premier card is more of a scam than a credit card

This is the worst credit card company to start with. When you are working on improving your credit score it’s tempting to give this company a try. However, 11 years later, I wish I never got into bed with First Premier Bank. They make up policies left and right and are terrible to their customers. The customer is always wrong here and they endeavor to inconvenience the customer at every turn. I strongly recommend new potential clientele to steer clear of this horrible company.

I wouldn’t apply for their credit card, so just got the card and still didn’t activate it even yet, as they already put the amount due of 87$ you guys will have to pay 87$ once you get their credit card, so be aware of that

Would never recommend this card to anyone. I have 2 capital one cards not co-signed & not secured with a 10x limit, and a co signed card with 15x limit of what they gave me. I still have issues for a card that was given to me two years ago, and after the FCRA, shut the account down. Would never recommend using this bank, and they should be treated like out laws. My lawyer even laughed at them.

First off; I’m not sure why so many people are acting surprised about the fees? EVERYTHING is laid out to you while applying for the card, fees included. So you cannot fault this company for something you choose to agree with.
Yes, the fees are horrible but when you have bad credit, there’s a good chance you have past issues with delinquency, faulting on loans, and just overall bad financial decisions. They’re willing to give people a second chance to rebuild, but this is their way of getting something in return. If you have good credit or even no credit - which is a lot different from having poor credit, then there’s no reason for you to even apply for this card.
I’m currently sitting at 683 with an Apple Card ($500), Credit One Bank ($500), Kohls ($300), and a Self Visa Secured ($125). First Premiere offered me a $700 limit, with a $79 annual fee. The fee sucks but I’m taking what I can get to improve my credit even further and utilization is incredibly important.
I’d advise anyone (who has actually read through the terms) that keeps the card to just use it very minimally for small purchases, until it builds your credit and you can get approved for another, better card.

The only thing I don’t like about this card other than the interest rate is too high, is that the app is always so far behind on payments and spending. No reason to even use it other than making payments.

Sure they offer up to $1000 starting credit line. But also require a $175 deposit fee before you can even use the card. And their CS is only available until 9p MST not toll-free 24/7. Their automated system drolls on to infinity before connecting to a live agent to help. I had suspected fraud charges which I reported, and they canceled the card to issue me a new one. Which never arrived, but only sent me a new bill... with the fraud charges still present.
