I have had my Gold Delta SkyMiles card for four years now, and have had great experiences with American Express during this time. The Delta benefits are great, and I have definitely enjoyed being able to fly without paying for additional baggage. They honored this even while I was flying with my cello! My most recent American Express customer service interaction was when I had missed a payment due to the flu—I both forgot to make the payment, and was unable to meet the minimum payment after all my missed days at work. The customer service representative canceled the late fee and allowed me to make the payment in two installations, all while being very polite and noting my typically excellent and on-time payment record. I’d definitely recommend this card to anyone looking for flight mileage benefits.

I have had my Gold Delta SkyMiles card for 5 years. During this time I was very pleased with the card until recently. I relocated across the country for a job, and due to this relocation was forced to try and do a short sale on my house. Other than this, my credit has always been exemplary; my payments were always made on time. I used my SkyMiles card to cover my moving expenses and promptly paid down the bill. However, because of the pending short sale on my home, my credit limit was cut by approximately 75%, I contacted customer service and they told me that they were unable to provide me with any further information. Since this time, every time that I pay down the balance on the card, my credit limit is cut to approximately $100 over my current balance. I have continued to contact customer service to try and get my limit raised, as I was using this card primarily for business travel, but they are unable to connect me with anyone that can assist me. I am continually told that I will receive as email or a letter with instructions on how to dispute the credit limit reduction, but it has been 3 months, and no email or letter has arrived.
Up until this point, it was worth it to me to have this card, and have available credit in case of emergencies. I was able to justify the high annual fee because of this. At this point, I am considering cancelling the card and paying off the remaining balance. The interest rate is high and the annual fee is high, but because I can no longer use the card to make the purchases I require for business travel, I frequently need to use my other airline rewards card that continues to provide me with the credit limit that I require.

I have been very pleased with the Gold Delta SkyMiles card. I am a frequent flyer and the upgrade in service one gets as a result of simply being a skymiles member has be my favorite thing about the card. As for working directly with American Express, customer service has always been extremely willing to help with any questions I might have. As a college student, this is my first credit card. The staff has been very helpful and patient in teaching me how to read statements, understand billing periods, and payment deadlines. I never have to wait on the phone on hold for extended periods of time. The staff is very timely and considerate of the customers. The iPhone app for AmEx and the online services have proved extremely useful as well. I have been thoroughly please with my service. While I do feel that the skymiles program caters more to businesses than everyday citizens, simply because of how hard it is to increase skymiles, it has no doubt come in handy when I have taken numerous continental trips. I would recommend to anyone planning on getting this credit card to apply shortly after taking a Delta flight. The benefit of this is that one can put the miles earned on this flight toward the skymiles account on the credit card. I would recommend (and have recommended!) this card to numerous people, especially if you are a frequent flyer.

I've had the Gold Delta SkyMiles card from American Express for over three years now. I initially got it so that I could earn SkyMiles on my airline and daily purchases. The card has actually turned out to be SO much more! If you travel even a little bit, this card is for you! I earn double SkyMiles on all Delta purchases, get 20% off in-flight food and beverages, get a $99 companion flight each year (which offsets the annual fee), and I get priority boarding on all Delta flights. When a flight is full and overhead space is bound to fill up, this is an amazing benefit! I was even upgraded to first class on a recent flight from Paris to JFK. Can't say for sure that it was due to having this card, but I assume that it was. I have only had to contact customer service a few times, but each time I had a good and helpful experience. I definitely recommend this card to anyone looking for a great airline miles reward card.

I have had this credit card for the past 10 years or so. It is my primary credit card. I have had quite a good experience with it to date. As with all American Express cards, there are some places that won't take it, but I'd say that 90-95% of the places that I've tried to use it have accepted it.
I have never carried a balance on it, so I can't comment on fees or interest rates. However, the customer service is excellent. On two occasions, the American Express fraud prevention team has called me with questions about a recent purchase on the card, and in both cases, it was found that my card had somehow been compromised. In both cases, American Express overnighted me a new card, including once when I was out of town. Of course, they also removed the spurious charges. In another case, I accidentally missed paying my bill by one day. I called American Express, and they removed the late fee and interest charges without any issue.
Finally, I like using this particular card because of the airline miles I accrue. My wife and I recently flew first class to France on KLM and Air France through miles we earned on this card. It was a dream. I'm definitely sticking with American Express, and at least for the time being, I'm also sticking with this card.

This is one of the good ideas I had that turned bad over the two years I had the card. I traveled within the United States a couple times a month on business, and flew Delta when I could. This card initially gave me some benefits as they advertise, and I was satisfied with it. The interest rate is very high in this time of 1% bank interest, but I didn't carry a balance and that was not a concern at the time. The waived fee for the first year and actual accumulation of miles from ordinary purchases would have had me rate the card 4.5 STARS at that time, with the only issue being some merchants not accepting American Express cards.
The second year was a different experience. Paying the annual fee was justified by the mileage benefits and some customer service aspects having the card gave me when flying Delta. I had 2 cancellations in Atlanta due to weather, requiring overnight stay, and this card did make the experience less stressful each time. But in part due to those charges and delay in getting reimbursed by my company, I started having a balance on the card.
The interest rate had never affected me, but now I realized how high it really was. I started running a balance due to some cutbacks at work, but always paid at least three times the minimum due. One morning on a business trip I tried to used the card to pay for gasoline and it was declined. Calling the company, they said the card had been suspended due to my credit rating, completely unrelated to my payment experience with American Express. I had no warning of this at all.
So while the card did have the advertised benefits, I would not recommend this, or any card from American Express. 0 STARS based on the issuing company.

My brother is the one that turned us on to this credit card, mostly because we travel frequently and fly Delta about 80% of the time. The mileage earned for flights - plus the free baggage - is great. I think we've saved HUNDREDS, literally, in baggage fees just this year alone. Even just this Thanksgiving weekend we were thankful for the Priority boarding. It is those little "perks" that make this card truly worthwhile. We started using this card as our "everyday" credit card, just so we could build up our miles, but have also found that like other American Express cards, the customer service is great, too. Getting the card took a bit longer than we anticipated, but once approved, we had it very quickly, and have been satisfied for the 2 years or so we have had it. We have never had any issues and our miles add up very quickly. The annual fee we thought may be a bit high, but realized it really is not, given what we earn and get back in miles and perks. We do find ourselves even flying Delta more for our business, and when we book the flights using the card, we earn double the points we normally do. This card is definitely worth the annual fee.

This card has really come in handy for myself and my family. I signed up for this card just to see if I would even be approved and was shocked to see that they approved me. I wasn't too happy about the annual fee. but I have grown to accept it because of the miles that I have gotten out of the card. The only downside is that AMEX is not always accepted everywhere. What I have learned to do is if I want to purchase an item using the card, I call or go on the website before I count on using the card. I also find that AMEX has fantastic customer service and they are really nice to you when you call them and ask for something. I had a problem a few months back that other credit card companies didn't really help me with, but AMEX did. I really like this card and the perks associated with it.

When Northwest Airlines folded and Delta (who absorbed Northwest) was courteous enough to roll my miles and rewards into their SkyMiles program (for a small fee), I went ahead and applied for this card. I never had a credit card linked with my WorldPerks Northwest miles, and I knew this was arguably the best way to rack up points, so I took this as an opportunity to start over and start to accumulate points and miles with this card. The initial mileage bonus is generous and what immediately attracted me to this card. I admittedly do not use it enough nor do I fly enough to have any free trips, but I was able to rent a car totally free of charge due mostly to charges I've placed on this card. It's a good card for someone who travels a lot, but I don't know if I would recommend it for someone past the first year. There is no annual fee for this period, and if you cancel within the first year, you can still keep your mileage bonus. Just my two cents.

This credit card has been wonderful for me and my family. We spend money on the items we need in our daily lives, and get SkyMiles as an added bonus. Just recently, I was able to go on a trip to Orlando, Florida with my family because we had saved enough SkyMiles to book four tickets. Flying for free really helps save money on our travels, and being able to earn those miles just from trips to the grocery store is just an added bonus. Overall I am very pleased with the benefits of this credit card, and the representatives at American Express have always treated me very well.
