If there was a star LESS THAN one, I would have chosen that one! This card comes HIGHLY UNRECOMMENDED by me. I have had issues with this card since DAY 1, which was a red flag that I ignored as I gradually approached MANY other red, black, burnt, fowl flags.
Today, was the nasty icing on the cake. I finally listened to wisdom to close my account after a PLETHORA of horrible experiences using this card: 1) 2 payment reversals even AFTER verifying Green Dot had my accurate banking information and B of A stating that they did NOT deny anything on their end, 2) not being able to easily speak to a representative (I eventually discovered that I had to "make a payment" over the phone just to reach customer service [to complain], 3) having to verify my banking account/myself the first time I paid my balance using my banking information and having to wait up to 2 weeks for GD to post it to my account, 4) being told to send supposedly verifying documentation via email to PROVE who I was when making a payment only for GD for respond back to say that that method was inaccurate (LOL!), 5) being charged $25 for one of the (only God knows what happened) reversals that GD COULD NOT remove as a courtesy for (only God knows why it wouldn't go through), 6) GD charging me the annual fee SO CONVENIENTLY right before their credit reporting AFTER I HAD a $0 balance! LOL!
I tell you folks, this WAS NOT a matter of whether I was using my credit card responsibly. I have about 10 other (secured and unsecured) credit cards WITH NO ISSUES!
To add, Discover: professional, high-quality customer service. AMEX: professional, high-quality customer service. Capital One: professional, high-quality customer service. But Green Dot? Let's just say... if you have nothing nice to say, then don't say anything at all. I get it. Green Dot performed no credit check. What can I say? Well, what I CAN say is: I have other no credit check secured cards and I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED with them what I repeatedly experienced with Green Dot. I. DO. NOT. RECOMMEND. THIS. CARD to anybody! Sign up at your own risk. I just read that they're no longer taking new applicants? THAT'S A GOOD THING!

It's good for rebuilding credit, paying for hotels but don't try to rent a car with it. Also able to pay on balance with a debit card. Customer service is hard to reach.

Well it's not very user friendly, and even when you do know how to use its not informative at all. I've been trying to close my account but it's almost impossible. It's like they are trying to get me down to where they keep my big security deposit. I do not recommend this card. I've had it for 7 months and regret it.

Unfortunately I had this card forgot I had it cause I got sick it charged off and ruined my credit I’ve been trying to get a hold of them for over 3 years to pay $97 and all the numbers are wrong and once the card close u can’t speak to a live rep if u email them they send a general email back HELP I NEED THIS FIXED AND OFF MY CREDIT I HAD A PERFECT PAYMENT HISTORY WITH THEM

Yes, they have several bogus phone numbers, even at least three different websites. It's almost as if they're a scam. Like me, you will have to do some soul searching for a number. I had closed my account and like you, couldn't get to a rep, but thank God, I was able to finally find a phone number find one of their many websites (LOL): https://platinum.greendot.com/core/Home/LogOut, https://www.greendotcredit.com/Contact.aspx, or https://www.greendotcredit.com/MakePayment/ApplyStepOne.aspx. I had a hard time getting the card to work, it would decline every time I tried to use it in person. So I decided to use it for bill pay. I called customer service was told that they didn’t show there was an attempt to use the card even though I had tried to use it at different places. I even asked if it was because the card doesn’t have a chip, and asked if They will ever add a chip to their cards. I was told at the moment there was no plan to do that. The only time the card actually worked was at Disneyland when I tried to buy a pin. Hahaha

This card is great..i can deposit at any wal mart for $3.74 i see no issues with paying that fee my credit score was 489 ..now its 625 in two months..and yiu can put more money down for your credit increase ..its a secure card i have no issues with it

Can't give this company less than 1 star rating, but I would if I could. I received an email to send in proof that I was the account holder for my checking account that I was using for payments and once received, it may take up to 10 days after proof is received to validate my information. I sent in the proof less than 8hrs after I received that email. 6 days later after the initial email was sent, they restricted my account for not responding to the email. I called their customer service, they confirmed that they did receive it and it can take up to 10 days to review and once done, the account will be reinstated. Please note, I had made 2 payments prior (that went through) before all this happened. They could not explain to me why they restricted my account 6 days after I received that email when it takes up to 10 days to validate my info and they would not unfreeze my account, even though I had funds still available to use which I needed. This is a secured credit card, those funds are mine to use and they would not unlock my account. I then called in a couple of weeks later to cancel the card, only to get a statement over a week later stating I had a minimum amount due. When I called, they stated it was never cancelled. Customer Service is the worst and they need to get their processes/policies reviewed. Will never use them again to get a secured card.

The is actually a good card. ITS IS A SECURED CARD TO FIX YPUR CREDIT. I don't spend over 30% so I won't complain lata. I pay my bill at Rite-Aide and it's posted 3-5 days later. (So pay your bill in advance) so you don't get charged for fees ON A SECURED CARD. Greendot boost my credit 40pts at week-1 and now I'm waiting on my CreditOne card. 3 weeks my credit zoom more pts.
