I own a house, own a car , have 750-800 for a credit score and have never missed a payment in my life. Upon applying for a gear card, I was denied a line of credit of $700 and it dropped my credit score by nearly 150 points. I didn't want to pay cash for the guitar I wanted because it was nearly Christmas and I like playing it safe. These guys have screwed my credit for no known reason ( they couldn't give me any answers as to why). And it will take me at least six months to build my credit back up again. I'll leave the colorful language for another time and just say I will never shop with guitar center again. It's a pity I had already spent a few thousand with them, because they don't deserve my business.

So I don't have this card yet but I've read the typical contract agreement and while rates are higher than normal cards, they have a Black Friday special on the gear card every year that you can take advantage of that eliminates all interest for the purchase of paid for in a very reasonable amount of time. My question is... Will I be approved with a 630 TU credit score, a civil judgement and 2 collections, AAOA 1year 4months, utilization 22%, credit rating "fair". Or would it be a waste of time and an unnecessary inquiry?? There don't seem to be any comparable a online for approval vs decline.

Applicants generally need Fair credit in order to qualify for the Guitar Center credit card, however, having such a credit score doesn't necessarily mean that you will get approved. Credit scores are an imperfect indicator for approval, as issuers typically modify publicly-available scoring models with their own proprietary screening criteria. They also take into account numerous factors that aren't necessarily incorporated into your score, such as your income and outstanding debt. Nevertheless, if you want to see where you stand, and thus estimate your odds of approval for this card, you can check your credit score for free on WalletHub: https://wallethub.com/join/ . Your account will give you access to daily updates to your credit score and full credit report as well as 24/7 credit monitoring. Hope this helps!

The Guitar Center credit card terms are pretty standard compared to other retailers. The introductory deferred interest rates are a nice perk but obviously only apply to new applicants. You must pay attention to the products purchased also. Only Yamaha products get the 18 month perk. All other brands only get 6 months deferred interest. I have held cards for other stores such as H. H. Gregg, Kohls, etc. and the interest rates are within a similar range. The $0 annual fee is also standard. Without additional perks such as a reward program I would only rate this card a 2 out of 5.

The Guitar Center card is a pretty good deal, depending on what you're looking to purchase. There are no rewards, so if you're making a big purchase you plan on paying off quickly, you might want to think about putting it on a more traditional credit card and getting the rewards, even if it has an annual fee. However, with their 0% interest for the first 18 months, if you need some time to pay it off, this might be a good choice since it has no annual fee and really is basically like financing your next instrument. Not a bad card, but it would likely make more sense to get a card with a wider range of use and a rewards system, unless you buy a ton of music equipment from guitar center on a regular basis.

The Guitar Center Credit Card has some good and bad features. With the Radio Shack Credit Card, like this one, there are no rewards, but this has a great deferred interest at 0% for 18 months. This goods a great amount of time to pay off a large purchase, without having to pay a lump sum all at once. The interest rate is very high so I would just say to make sure you pay it off within that time or you will build up a high amount of interest to pay off. The no annual fee is also great and comes in handy since you will paying off that credit for over a year with no interest.

Looking to upgrade equipment or get something flashy to look good on stage? The Guitar Center Credit Card may be your ticket to the big time. With an intro rate at zero per cent for eighteen months this card makes it easy to make pricey purchases without high rate worries for the first eighteen months. It would be great if this card had some type of rewards program to give incentive to use the card more.

I really like having this card because it's my favorite place to shop. Most of the time I need just small things like cables, picks, or strings and it's convenient to have this card on me to get what I need. I usually pay it all off when the bill comes so I'm not charged a high interest rate. I confess I have used it to purchase high dollar items and don't mind the high interest rate as I pay it off fairly quickly and have the benefit of getting what I want sooner.

This looks like a pretty decent card. The introductory APR of 0-18 months is great if you are looking to make a purchase and planning to pay it back soon. I used a similar offer with Sweetwater Sound, but they only allowed 6 months at 0 APR. The APR after that is pretty comparable with other credit cards and lower than I remember from 1st Financial Bank.

Its great to have 0% for the first 18 months to help finance expensive music equipment. Beyond that, this card does not have much to offer. I probably wouldn't recommend this card to anybody unless your are buying an expensive guitar, amp, etc. But if you are in the market for those items, the 0% rate can save you a ton of money if you need to finance. After the promotional rate, the high APR and lack of rewards renders this card useless. For that reason, I think it would be smarter to open a regular credit card like the Discover It card which offers a 0% introductory rate and decent rewards thereafter.

This card is pretty average. I had it for a while and the APR is not that great. If you do buy alot of music equipment then is card will definitely be beneficial to you. The card has no points or reward system of any kind in order to give you an incentive to use the card. Also, do not ever pay late with this card, the late fees are completely outrageous. You can get a much better APR with a regular credit card. I do not recommend you waste your time and money with this card.
