My inbox has been bombarded with notices of pre-approval for this and other rewards cards. The Covid pandemic has deeply impacted the travel industry, the hotel industry, food and beverage industry. The repercussions of the intermittent lockdowns, border closings, vaccination passports, and related economic stress has prompted these rewards card companies to really push their product. Sickness and death have slowed the public's spending in these industries. Slam dunk approval on all these low limit travel cards. I believe I'll pass.

I would give them 0 star if I can! I would not recommend using this card! Hilton Honor AMEX is one of the worst cards that I have ever used. I always have issues whenever I travel that the card is always declined even though my credit balance is more than enough the pay for my purchases. I reached out to the customer service and they said there was no transactions ever sent over and they didn’t lock my card for travel notice or anything and claimed that the merchants’ terminals issues. How can this be a terminals issue when I sent to 5 different stores and decline at all of the purchases? After the call, it works again! Also, I was declined for my Bonus Offer. No one can provide me exact reason through chat and phone call! They just said I agree to that I accept there will be no bonus offer. I asked for proof of that when I agreed, but they told me they don’t keep all of that for my security reason! Sure! Sounds like cheating to me!

American Express by far provides the best customer service of any credit card. They are also the best travel card in existence. For example, they were able to replace my card - the next morning - when traveling overseas.

This is a very solid card to get your life on track, it introduces you to the AMEX family, and with a few on time payments, it is a stepping stone card to get you a regular AMEX. AMEX has a very generous limit when you are just starting out. If you need a traveling card, it is better than it's competitor, the Chase Marriott Bonvoy Bold. If you can get this card, consider yourself a "Boss." It is a full fledged, AMEX card for those looking to rebuild their credit, nothing to feel ashamed over when you peel open your wallet, and drop it down at a restaurant in front of your friends! After all, anyone can whip out a Mastercard or Visa, Bosses whip out AMEX!

Got an offer to apply in the mail. I applied online, was instantly approved, but was given a $1,000 credit limit. I applied b/c there's 0% APR for the first 12 months of purchases, a decent sign-up bonus, and b/c we have to do some work on our house, which means making purchases that exceed $1,000 each. The normal benefits are not good enough on their own (e.g., 7x points for dining, but points are worth far less than one cents each, meaning my card that gives me 3% cash back on dining is superior).
My credit score is always at minimum in the high 700s, often exceeding 800. I make well over $100k. I generally get automatically approved for credit lines of at least $10,000. I tried requesting an increase here and Amex turned me down, saying I'd have to wait 90 days. I said I was canceling the card then, but they didn't care; they weren't interested in my business. I canceled the card, and it's their loss.

Amex is such a poor company now. No follow-thru and I go through #$#$ every time I have an issue -- the reps are nice enough, but nobody at their customer service level is empowered to do anything. Everything is handled through 'cases' and they never follow up. The aggravation is not worth it. There are several banks that do a better job and will pay credits the month of INSTEAD of the month late that amex does. I also never received my sign up bonus despite several calls.

I travel a bit and prefer to stay in Hilton wherever I go. I got this card due to the signup bonus at the time. It was actually better than that shown on your website. If you are like me and like those two things, then this is not a bad card to get. The silver status, and then gold, gets you perks when staying at Hilton hotels. I haven't needed to use their customer service; I imagine it would be just ok. As well, I pay off my bill monthly so the APR does not bother me.

The Hilton HHonors card seems to have some good selling points, and some that are not so great. The initial bonus of 40,000 bonus points is a great feature when you consider how many nights you may be able to book for free with just those points alone. The regular point values seem to be reasonable as well, which means that this card would probably pay for itself on hotel rooms alone. However, I find that for a card such as this, the interest rate appears to be rather high. Also, be charged both a cash advance rate and a cash advance fee is a little over the top. I would be afraid of ever needing that service with those kinds of fees attached. Overall, if you are someone who travels a lot and uses their credit card quite frequently, this would be a good one for you based on rewards alone.

I travel a lot, almost 11 months a year. I am currently in the US and I have a burner phone (because of my extensive traveling) and they will not verify my account to it, to clear a hold on it. Their customer service seems to be the worst that I have had among any of the cards I held and I am a gold member in Hilton and soon will be platinum, but I think I will probably cancel this card, due to there crappy service.
